Ear PIMPLE POPPED & Keratosis Obturans Removed COMPLEX CASE -

This blocked keratosis obturans removal procedure is performed by UK pioneer and world leading endoscopic ear wax removal specialist Mr Neel Raithatha (Consultant Audiologist) aka 'The Wax Whisperer’ at his clinic in Oadby, Leicester, UK.
Keratosis obturans presents as hearing loss and usually acute, severe pain secondary to the accumulation of large plugs of desquamated keratin in the ear canal.
The procedure in this video utilities the iCLEARscope® and Zoellner suction probe and also Crocodile Forceps. The forceps where not used in the first instance as the dead keratin was very soft and would just tear into little pieces when extracting. There was also a huge ear pimple near the entrance of the ear canal caused by the dead keratin.
Removing keratosis obturans can be very challenging given the skin adhesions present. At times it was very difficult stabilising the iCLEARscope® as the keratosis was near the entrance of the ear canal (so I could not rest it inside the ear canal) and because I was having to vigorously pull and tug at it in order to extract.

This looked like it might have been quite painful! Video was quite shaky, but it was interesting overall to see the epic battle to remove the Blob! 😳 I wish there were a voiceover or explanation on the video like Audiology Associates does, as I’d love to know exactly what I was watching. Sometimes I would love to hear just how the patient feels after having this done. Is pain reduced and hearing clearer? How did it feel during the procedure? What was it that made them seek the medical help as to some of us watching we wonder how it got that bad in the first place. On a personal level this is so satisfying to watch x

You'd be surprised. I don't think that huge amount being taken with that vacuum going back and forth would feel anything but confortable. Can't understand why in cases where such huge amount of keratin, wax, etc has to be removed they can't apply a minimun of numb. IT would be a good idea to ask the patient what he felt during the procedure, once he left .
@aubreyackermann8432
@aubreyackermann8432 3 года назад
@@maricle100 where would they apply the numbing agent, there's no exposed skin. Also, they probably want the patient to be able to tell them if they're pulling on something sensitive since it's hard to impossible to see through the buildup.

I’ve had it three times in four weeks at first it felt good but then it was painful the next time. I went deaf after I had a flu reaction from vaccine. I had five trips to the doctor and no antibiotics would help. I eventually went to the emergency as the pain was so excruciating and they sent me to suction. It got bad because the infection was treated incorrectly by GP as it was hard to diagnose the issue. I have bacterial and fungal ear infection with perforated ear drum and have had regular visits for 11 weeks now. It’s still being treated. It offers painful but temporary relief from my ear pressure for around three days between visits.

The video s are great explanation how esr wax is removed and letting people know that this procedure is not for anyone to do at home. Looking at many videos I have learned different types of ear wax and the names of wax. Blessings to the wax whisper for acknowledging that not all people are certified to remove ear wax. Years of experience defines surgical professionals to be called Wax whisper not only is he a great speaker he lets people know how to protect themselves from non certified professionals. I know the patient has to feel such relief. I had a hair poking my ear drum and I wanted to take a crow bar to my ear! That pain and my chronic ear infections, I understand his pain.

He bursts the pimple by accident. Does anyone else notice that he and all of the other ear drs. avoid pimples like the plague? Seems like opening them and suctioning the pus would help the infection resolve more quickly.

Don Melton it's also creating another open sore and risking different kinds of infection.

poketvenus it is going to swell up and rupture at some point anyway. Why not do it in a controlled situation.

This had a lot of gnarly-ness, in it. Will this be able to heal, completely, or will this have scar tissue and issues due to it's state in this video? My ear hurts, just looking at it.😢

Pamela Ayon UGH!! That's AWFUL! I have, a skin condition, in which, kerotosis ( I think) reoccurs, as soon as I scrape it out, there it is, immediately. Mine, is not as wet or as painful, as this looks. However, my eardrum has been replaced, several times, in one ear. Between, the infection that, ate that eardrum (masetoid) and the micro-surgery that took place, in that ear canal, I have a ton of scar tissue there. In the other ear canal, I've had cysts removed, and had so many, replacement, tubes, the skin, does the same thing. They've sewn the tubes in, tried to place a tube, from the back of my ear drum to the back of my nose, for drainage. I am dealing with a lot of sympathy pain, when I watch this video.

It's not wax. Well it's some wax but it's mostly skin cells that have not been shed by the ear. Yes your hearing can be affected somewhat but usually people who suffer from keratosis obturans already have hearing damage due to other diseases of the ear like chronic ear infections, cholesteotomas, etc
