Pixel Buds due to it's minimalistic design and good overall performance (as heard in other reviews). But, I'd rather buy Nothing Ear 1 due to it's great value.
I have the Buds2 Pro and Apple Airpods Pro 2 and I AM totally on the Airpods Pro 2 side. Now I know. The Buds2 Pro has that Bass sound but Apple has a wider sound, feels like a year ahead... And I hate to stay It but its true.

Galaxy Buds 2 are underrated imo. They’re not best-in-class in any single category but they are a solid B+ all-round and with the prices on sale hovering around 80$ they feel like a no brainer for anyone who doesn’t need audiophile sound quality or top of the line ANC. And they’re really comfortable too!
They're good but they always fall out of my ears when doing any workout that causes me to sweat. I don't even have to be doing much movement either. With the slightest bit of sweat you'll have to constantly readjust or they'll slide out. Even doing something as minimal as using a stationary exercise bike causes them to slide out if I start sweating, due to the shape and finish of the buds... They are pretty solid for everything else though.
I have had nothing but problems with the buds 2, terrible buds. Samsungs recent desire to create these closed ecosystems has pushed me into just going with Apple. They do it better.
I've really enjoyed my Galaxy Buds 2 Pro! They're the first earbuds I've had that don't make me feel like I'm missing out by not reaching for my Bowers and Wilkins PX7 Carbon edition!
The black galaxy buds pro 2 sound incredible. I am big on aesthetics and the galaxy buds pro 2 from all the ear buds I have seen have the cleanest low profile design. I really don't like the look of big knobs sticking out the side of my ear since I like using them outdoors and I want to be discrete.
This was an extremely helpful video. My main concern was the call quality and having an example for each earbud was exactly what I was needing. Thank you!
Just got the liberty 3 pros a couple weeks ago, and I think they’re great! But I’m kinda sketched out by the replaceable wing tips and think they can be a point of failure down the line that will be annoying to replace, and they are more frequently glitchy than the jabras I’ve had for years, so after watching your video I’m tempted to try the sennheisers!
They're also uncomfortable af I was super optimistic when I purchased them, and I was blown away by the sound quality when I got them. Goddamn are they painful though, especially in my left ear. I'm probably going to be returning mine.
I was just about to order the Liberty 3 Pros for $84 for my first ones ever, down from $149. Now I'm wondering....Maybe I'll get the JBL Live Pro 2 for $74 down from $149.
@@1Mannco I also felt that the Liberty 3 Pros were too large, too uncomfortable, and not secure enough. They sounded good, but it's NOT so good that the size, discomfort, and lack of practicality is worth it. JBL though? Eh, I think there are better picks.
The wing tips are ok for me, they come in multiple sizes in the box. What failed for me was the charging pins on the case. No matter how much I clean them they all of a sudden started to be a pain to connect and charge. One pin even got stuck down.
the sound is perfect, the quality of build is horrible unfortunately. Give them sometime, the left earbud will have a high pitch sound and/or it will got a lower volume performance.
I agree. Samsung really shocked me with the Buds 2 Pro sound quality. Its really some of the best I've ever heard. The ANC is also getting closer to Sony territory.
Sadly because of the lack of a full EQ they don't sound as I would like, that is my only complaint, but other than that they are my daily driver for EVERYTHING now.
@@LE_NOMAD90 I've forgone my WH-1000XM3's for the 2 Pros on my last couple of flights. The 3's are better at NC, of course, but in for my money the 2 Pro are good enough and play back music drastically better. I personally find Sony's over-ears to be hot, itchy and uncomfortable, though
@@kylerclarke2689 I was a massive fan of the XM3s and even after trying the XM4s. The Buds 2 Pro are much better. Idk why they changed the EQ between the XM3 and XM4s. The Buds 2 Pro feel almost like nothing on flights. Good job Samsung.
@@kylerclarke2689 Would you say the Pro 2's are bad at NC? Or good, but just not the very best? I drive a truck over 500 miles per day. It's noisy in there.
Apple is too coercive. I had the 14 pro, untra watch and airpod pro 2. i returned the 14 pro due to its excessive over heating during conference video calls. Now the ultra watch won't even connect to my airpods and my music i paid for that was on the watch has stopped.
This year has been a great year for ear buds I have the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pros and they’ve made MAJOR improvements compared to the Pros original and the Buds 2. Besides the the Galaxy Buds 2019, the Buds 2 Pro were the only earbuds that would stay in securely and not slip out. The sound quality is improved times ten. If using Samsung devices, they have a ton of nifty useful features. My only gripe is the ANC. It’s slightly less than the pros, but they’re great! I’m just a little disappointed that they didnt make any other category. But again, it has been a great year where most of the companies have finally done better with fine tuning their products.
I got the comply foam tips just to improve anc for when I really need it riding a train/plane/etc, that's really made the buds2 pro the best all around for me. Just this year I've tried the buds2 pro, app2, jaybird Vista 2, Jabra elite 7, pixel buds A, beats fit pro, buds+...I sold everything except the jaybirds for when I need a really secure fit and buds2 pro for all other times ✌️
@@bmanfitz I love the fit of the new buds 2 pros but the eartip doesnt fill up my ear canal so theres so the seal is really bad compared to the buds pro
I love my Galaxy Buds.pro2 for everything except my right ear bud tends to fall out easily AND for some reason will randomly disconnect and reconnect to my device which is really annoying when im washing dogs and listening to a book or TV show and can't be messing with my phone. (I'm a dog groomer and work 12 hour days so I really test out my buds lol)
Hi Mike Just a couple ideas: - please make Transparency / Ambient a category as some are better at it than others - please include one or two runners up instead of just one winner in each category. thanks!
@@wattastinky69 of course not. That is what you gleamed from what I said? I can continue to do what I did 2 months ago which is buy 3 earbuds and use them all over a week and pick the best and sell the remaining 2
I got Sony XM4'S last year per the recommendation from this channel and others and I'm still super satisfied with them a year later. Sometimes I think of switching but I just have no good reason to at the moment lol. Really solid all around, even though they didn't make the cut for this video they're still amazing for anyone considering them!
Same here... went with Sony's XM4's. I'll use them till they die. Their noise blocking is amazing. I went with some replacement ear buds designed to fit them (don't remember the name but high quality). I have zero complaints of any kind against the buds.
@@monkeybarmonkeyman I use Spinfit silicon tips, they're much more comfortable for me than the foam (although I appreciate the passive noise cancelling and sound quality improvements that can come with those). The noise cancelling is still amazing, and sound quality is incredible! I'll also use em 'til they die!
My first set had a bad battery drain and Bluetooth stability issues at around 400 hours. They were warrantied for a new pair and I'm using those but when they bomb out (never had a pair of earbuds not fail at some point) I'll be going to Bose or just make the switch to over the ear
@@Seasniffer69 so there is a patch update that addresses that problem and is rumoured to improve the sound as well. You have to call Sony and tell them your issue
I got the Bose QC2 earbuds due to their incredibly good noise canceling. I live around a lot of noise, and being about to just create a bubble around myself whenever I want is what ultimately tipped the scales for me
@@TheeGreasyGamer There's no way they'd block all that noise, and definitely wouldn't block the noise on a call. ANC is not nearly as effective as people make it seem. Also not sufficient for hearing protection on the job.
@@WinterReflections nah anc works well even on the first get boses. all of the low frequencies were gone for me and all i could hear were the birds chirping and the occasional horn from a car. that plus low volume music settles it ngl. or just get memory foam tips
Very odd as others have mentioned that the Sony WF-1000 XMR get no recommendation at all. In fact barely a mention. Difficult to see them just (or totally?) missing an award in all of these categories, or at least a mention as a very close runner-up.
The 1000XM4 is more than a year old now so its not fair to compare them to the new releases. Furthermore, the price has been considerably reduced putting them at a different category than the others mentioned albeit the 1000xm4 not being the best now.
@@sasorishino The Sony still cost more than the Momentum 3 despite being worse and older, which is probably the reason why it is not recommended anymore cause for the price the sound and anc quality can't keep up with the competition, sure it is cheaper than the Airpods, Galaxy Buds or Bose but not by that much
What a minefield I found myself getting into when choosing my first ear buds. Thank you for your insights into choosing the right ones for my needs. I think I'll go with the Senheisers. The all round performance and multi-device is appealing.
Hi Mike Just one idea, please make Battery a category. I think this is prob what is keeping many people from switching entirely to wireless. Especially for work calls. And using them on long flights. Or though the day. Etc. thanks!
Had Jabra, bought Sony WF-1000xm4 after I watched multiple tests. They were OK, although everybody I called said they struggled to hear me and it’s the third time something is wrong and I need to send them in for service. I’m done, my wifes AirPods from 2019 is better and never needed service. Really tried not to, but i’m switching over.
In my case the AirPods Pro 2 are the most comfortable music listening device ever. I can literally have them in my ears for the entire day and I won't experience any discomfort or fatigue (same goes for sleeping with them). LinkBuds S on the other hand would give me serious skin irritation due to the very stiff silicon tips that are not smooth enough (especially in comparison to AirPods or my favourite Final Audio tips). In the end I have returned both of them as the AirPods didn't work properly with my Pixel and LinkBuds S were the most uncomfortable earbuds that I have ever used (altough the sound quality and the ANC are really good for the price).
@@priveprive5315 big case?!?! Why you buy earbuds??!!! For sound for the love of jesus christ !!! Not for the case !!!!! Fuck the multipoint pairing and all other shit!!! You buy headphones and earbuds for sound quality FIRST !!!!! This is the only channel that said apple sound better than Sennheiser…. I have never read comments like that on sound product… this is ridiculous!!!
My LG v60 is great for audio, wireless (aptx adaptive & LDAC, sort of) and wired (ESS Sabre quad DAC). Apple uses AAC which at least is better than SBC. However, codecs are perhaps 10% of the difference with hardware making the biggest difference. I like the Sennheisers Momentum true wireless though side by side I liked the Sony wfxm4 and AirPods Pro 2. For call quality the Sony link buds s (for the price) and AirPod Pro 2 in noisy conditions.
Listening to this video on my Sony XM4 earbuds... That's my personal favorite. The Bose DOESN'T have wireless charging and DOESN'T have a HiFi codec for better sound quality (XM4 has LDAC Sony only does SBC and AAC)
The galaxy buds 2 pro are the best buds for sound if you have a Samsung phone. I tried the Bose qc1 and 2 and the sound from the buds pro 2 are unreal, best sound by far. I took back the bose back and went with the buds pro2 because of my galaxy s22 ultra.
The best part about linkbud s is you get Sony hybrid ep-ex11 eartips from the box. XM4 only get foam tips, XM3 get foam tips and rubber tips but the rubber one is from low end Sony rubber tips.
For me it's Bose, and always has been regardless of case size, battery life, earbud weight. Because what's important to me is the sound. It's their sound and how by default it's accustom to my preference of music taste by delivering very well on the top end of the frequencies to hear clear, delicate intricacies amongst percussion that too much bass could/would easily drown out. The bass can always be adjusted to support various genres and tuned well beyond if needed and that's always been the case with media player EQ or by the Bose app. But that's my preference of EQ and how I choose which brand of headphones to go with. You should always buy which product emphasizes and supports your style of music best. That's of course you buy headphones primarily to listen to music. There's no such thing as "best" when it comes to this stuff. "Wah wah wah Yeh but my case is .5cm shorter". These things are getting stupid small now, that larger case by .5Cm or extra 4hours of case charge isn't going to be an issue at any point, not with how accessible USB/power sockets are plus quick charge. I actually miss having the case size of the QC I as it told me battery levels which I would like to know. In fact overall i would prefer a slightly bigger case if it were to offer stronger protection to my £250 product and a slightly longer battery/added features. Most kids who own these products won't know the days of struggle spending £12 on a multi pack of AA batteries for about a Weeks worth of play on a personal CD player, let alone the quality of the headphones...don't even go there It's now features for the sake of having features.
Bose is just a cheaper worse Sennheiser. Give them a try. They are a better reference. Very similar sound signature (flat) but vastly improved imaging and sound stage.
I'm team bose too.... Got the bose sound sport first generation in ear Bluetooth earbuds (for working and general use) , bose quiet comfort 35ii Bluetooth headphones for sleeping, and bose quiet comfort in earbuds 1st generation (for general, working out, and airplane rides) Sony comes close but bose are easier to operate.
@@Wylie288 bose sound way better the sennheiser. Sen doesn't even have good customization for sound. I did return the bose due to only being right side use, which is a huge deal breaker for me.
I use to be a bose guy because they were the first headphones of better sound I heard as a teenager. Stayed with them religiously since 2005. This year I finally decided to try sennheiser after my bose headphones shorted again. I am now a sennheiser man, and I hope you give them a real shot someday.
I just got the Sonys and I am blown away, how good these are excellent all around, I can be in a meeting next to a blasting TV and a barking dog and everyone thinks I am in a office
The only downside is earwax when it comes to earbud headphones. Your earwax tends to block the sound and at times would also stuff itself onto the buds themselves.
So, I had the Jabra Elite 75t (based on your recommendation), but I lost one of the headphones and I went to Best Buy. The geek squad worker told me about every single headphone you have on this list. I was going to walk out with the Sony Link Buds, but then he told me about the Sennheiser TW3. I heard about them (from you, Mike) and brought them on the spot. They were $220, but worth every penny. They are so loud, I'm watching this video on the lowest volume and it still comes out crystal clear. Thanks for the multiple recommendations for electronic. Keep up the great work 👏🏿
I bought the Galaxy Buds Pro's last year and really liked them. I used the smaller silicone as it fit best and was going well until one day when I was on a walk with my dogs and took them out and then the tip came off and fell into the grass. I sadly never found it but then I used the medium tip which was a bit too big for me but still used them until earlier this year when I bought the Nothing Ear (1). First pair was buggy and sent them back but my second and current pair have been pretty solid. The comfort on them is fantastic although the sound quality and ANC are not be the best but I now use them almost daily. Currently looking at the Buds 2 Pro but I might just wait for a sale or skip until the next best thing that comes out and interests me.
@@gtbigdog3507 Thank you! I looked at buying some new tips but I was not too sure which ones to get as some were pricey and the reviews were pretty mixed but once again, thank you.
I had galaxy buds pro before, and I now own Galaxy 2pro, and believe me, it's the best decision that I made this year. Just wait for the black Friday sales and grab one.
@@butwhychikomandy What would you say are the main differences with the Buds 2 Pro that make it worth getting them? I will definitely look at the Black Friday sales for when they come around!
Excellent video, I do love my B&O and momentum 3. I would give an honorable mention to the bowers & Wilkins PI7, with the case that can be used as a Bluetooth transmitter in an airplane are awesome. Thanks
Thanks for the great list lad. I'd have to completely agree with you on pretty much every selection. I've the Sennheiser TWS Momentum 3 and the Samsung Buds 2 Pro. Both are solid performers. Thanks again Mike for the great critique.
Thanks for the review but one test you could include is the latency between the phone and the ear bud. I have a pair with this annoying problem where the lips on the video are slightly out of sync with sound.
I buy for how long they last, how the midst, highs, and lows sound, is there a quick mute button. When my boss walks up I like to be able to mute with a glove on
I grabbed the galaxy buds 2 pro. I had the first version, and they did NOT fit, this one was far better. It was a tough choice between the Bose quiet comfort 2 and the buds 2 pro, but your video swayed me. Better fit for running with the buds 2 pro and I have the Samsung ecosystem...
Which one has the most bass without it sounding blown out? I used to have the Sony 1000mx3 and they were awesome at creating a nice bass driven sound stage. However they were big and that allowed for bigger drivers. I traded them in for airpod pros and immediately regretted it. I'm now using galaxy buds pro 1 that I got with my s22u pre order last year but want to jump to some premium sounding earbuds.
Senhiser momentum 3’s have been a nightmare, on my second pair after a warranty claim.. the right earbud keeps blowing up and ultimately doesn’t produce as much sound as the left one. It’s happened twice now about to warranty claim for my third pair, I do not recommend.
Great commentary here. However, I'm still trying to choose. I'm a truck driver. I am shopping because the Samsung Live buds keep falling out of my ears. I need something with sound quality that is fit for Vince Guaraldi tunes, will cancel out the low pitch rumble of the truck and road, has good microphone quality for talking while driving, and won't fall out of my ears when bending over. I'd spend as much as $200 or maybe as much as $240. What would be your recommendation?
Great video Mike! Which earbuds would you recommend for indoor calls in a loud room (imagine you're taking a zoom call from a co-working space for example)? This kind of noise isn't exactly the same as traffic and wind. I'd be really interested in that kind of assessment!
@@Artemis-v8i Thanks for the response. ANC refers to filtering out outside noise coming into your ear. I'm referring to the microphone filtering out background noises, so people talking to you on a call hear only your voice. The mic test Mike did tested out road noise and not office noise.
Wouldn’t need any of these if my new phone just came with an audio jack! So mad I switched devices…thought I’d get rid of one problem and replace it with another.
airpods should not have won for mic quality. i’ve had a pair of AirPods and a pair of AirPod pros and use them free around a year each. the first thing to break on both of those pair was the microphone. I cannot wear either of my earbuds during calls anymore AirPods do not work long-term for calling. I spend on an average of three hours calling somebody every day, and I can tell you that AirPods have terrible mics quality and longevity.
I think the best for calls are the nothing ear 1, the best for sport are one of the Jabra, the best really cheapest are the earfun free pro 2, best sound got the Sennheiser, best anc got the bose and the best comfort got my good old galaxy buds plus 😁 I I've forgotten so many times that I am even wearing them... 🙂 And they are good by sports...
Which earphones have the best and safest fit in the ear regarding movement, eating, need for repositioning, isolating sound etc. ? I struggle often with in ears. Often they are too heavy, hurt in the ears or loose grip over time...
It's disappointing that JBL'S seem to be left out the party again and you have 3 from Sony. It's getting to the point where I can name all of the earbuds before I watch the video. Not just this channel but most others as well. 💯😐
I really like the Sony extrabass earbuds. I used them when they were wired and now I have the earbuds. The case hinge for them just broke and I wanna get a similar pair, but I wanna try something new. However every other pair I've listened to sounded tin-ny by comparison. What's a good option for base punchyness if you enjoy music with those deeper tones?
Pixel buds pro are a good all around earbud also. Not the best sound, anc or transparency, but prob the best touch controls of any bud out there and great customization, and lets not forget really good assistant integration. I find myself using these more than any other bud I have, including my more expensive ones.
I recently got my tech upgraded and got the Samsung Galaxy S23 along with Galaxy Buds 2 pro (Yes, I love Samsung...). So I can tell you a lot about these buds. The quality of the sound is simply fantastic. If you're into high quality sound and audio - then buds2 pro are a perfect fit. The ANC is not perfect but it works ok for the most part. I use these buds for my workout in the gym and my runs and they fit pretty well. I do have to adjust them sometimes but it is not a big deal compared to some other buds that fall out immediately. The only problem I found with them is when I talk a lot they seem to slowly make their way out of my ears thus I need to adjust them a lot more than usually. Still, I am very happy with these buds and personally I just really like their design. Definitely a solid choice
I had the Sennheiser 3 Momentoms and I work in a factory. The ANC went staticy (AKA Hissed) when an air gun was used to blow off parts. Even from 30 feet away.
Been hearing good reviews on the Jaybird Vista 2 and the Jabra 85t /Jabra Elite 7 pro. Were they anywhere in the running? Or any negatives you though eliminated then early?
hello, i really like your videos .. thank you .. just a question : between the jabra 75t and galaxy buds 2 pro , what would you choose for a samsung phone holder ?
0:18 "Bumping" Taylor Swift while getting that max deadlift?? 😂 Maybe _Corey_ Taylor! 💪 Seriously though, some good buds listed. I have the XM4's, but had I known that the Sennheiser Momentum 3 buds were coming out I would have gone with those instead. Unfortunately I was past the return window before the Senny 3's came out. I'm on my _sixth_ set of buds in about two months (Amazon isn't happy with me) trying to find the "Goldilocks" of earbuds for the gym. After going through the Soundcore Sport X10's, Jabra Elite 4 & 7 Actives, Soundcore Liberty 3 Pros (Almost wish I would have stuck with these), and the Oladance Open Ear Headphones (Definitely a contender for the most comfortable), I decided on the Sennheiser CX Plus SE's. I got them for $89 during the Amazon Fall Prime Event.
I have iphone13 pro. What is the most compatible ear budss can you suggest and recommend for me. I need the most compatible for my iphone13 pro and 14pro. Is it the Beats fit pro or the Airpods Pro2. Im more in listening to music, biking, walking. Did you ecperience interference on any of these 2 ear buds?
Love your videos. Always so elaborate and offer huge optionality. Great job! Really curious what you think about the B&W earbuds. Don't see that brand popping up a lot..or ever 😢 my PX7 headphones are amazing and would really appreciate an expert's review on that to be included in a comparison video like this.
Mr Mike as always great informative review💐 . BUT, you let us know every details while we don’t know what your standards are like are you into soundstage, sound imaging, clarity, bass head, dynamic sounds, neutral sound…etc. Please let us know so that we better understand how you rate things. THAK YOU SO MUCH 💐💐💐
Very surprised to see the B&O EX listed as best overall, because I found the ANC to be absolutely non-existent. Sound quality, fit, battery was good but also lacking the functionality of either the Bose or AirPods 2. I know many other actual buyers found the lack of ANC on the B&O EX to be a problem too. Disappointing that reviewers somehow seem to downplay this major flaw.
How come you didn't try the Soundcore Sport x10... Those seem to be the best for secure grip and workout... Anyways I got the Linkbuds donuts for my use case of being aware of my colleagues at work and my surroundings for my walk. When you fit them properly they are comfortable and stay very secure in your ears, i even use them for off road skating no problem
Water resistance is huge for me. My position is that it should be a category. I have dropped some in the pool while cleaning. Same goes for doing the dishes. My wife had airpods go into a duck pond. I am betting that if you have any problem keeping buds in, that you have dropped them in water at some point.
Hi there Thanks for great review I have question Some body Your answer can prevent me from rong choices and avoid from wasting my money Quality of sound and volume is more important for me In my country sony xm3 and Samsung buds 2 pro having same price. Absolutely sumsung is new But some people tell me the quality of sony is the best Whats your idea
Other than senhiezer brand which one will you go for the best sound quality @mike, because this brand earbuds gets damaged so easily. I had TWM2 and now its not working.
Just purchased the Apple TV (3rd generation). I hope you do a test of the spatial sound option with the new Apple TV. If you really think its good, I could get rid of a lot of AV equipment that I have had for a long time (Studio 60's) and make my den a lot more appealing. The ceiling speakers will have to stay cause I hate messing with dry wall. But, this will allow for a new LARGER TV. First world problems.
I am totally new to earbuds. I need them now that my new Galaxy S23Ultra phone doesn't have a headphone jack. My question though is what is best for me since I use them for my phone, IPad, and my HP laptop. Any suggestions?
Haven’t tried all of these, was a galaxy buds pro user since they came out, but I just can’t fault my Jabra Elite 85t! Excellent ANC, sound quality on point, and the buttons instead of touch controls are so much better for me. 👌
@@tensalade3515 massively. I found there were two massive flaws with the Sony's. 1. Microphone positioning. If you had 'hearthrough' enabled, you will almost constantly tap the microphones creating popping sounds when you adjust your earphones, or use the controls. 2. In-ear sensor. I sometimes take my earphones out and have them in my pocket. Due to the sensor placement, music would carry on playing while in my pocket. This is the same if I removed one earphone, which temporarily pauses the music, and held It in my hand. Almost every time I would trigger the sensor and have to remove both so I couldn't hear the music. Does that make sense? I'm really tired, can rephrase if it doesnt
@@lohvrti it really makes sense thanks a lot mate, i've bought them Yesterday so i wanted to be sure i've made the right choice and it's looking like i dit, i'm really hyped to try them
For me the best earbuds overall are the JBL Live Pro 2, the best for phone calls are the Earfun Air S and Soundcore Liberty Air 3 Pro, I even have a preference for the Earfun microphones which certainly suppress less ambient noise than the Soundcore, but they have a much more natural rendering of voices.
I have them, but they have massive audio delay with videos, the ANC barely works with loud sounds, and the ANC drains the battery really fast. Incredible sound quality though
