Man, thanks for posting this - I caught this exact show at The Maple Leaf bar in New Orleans 28 - 29 years ago. One of the best shows I've ever seen in a small bar setting - All the same songs - WOW!
Back in these days the guys traveled in an old book mobile. This was a true traveling blues band.Hammond and Nauman Scott are to thank for hooking Roomful up with Earl.Spent many late nights till early mornings with Ronnie Earl and Bob Enos and Doug James with Porky begging us to let him get some sleep!
I would really love to have seen a video of Porky Cohen doing "Caravan". To this day it is the most amazing version I have ever heard and am lucky I got to see it live as many times as I did. Thanks for posting this set. It brings back a lot of great memories.
Thanks for sharing it, because it is about the music. My daughter wouldn't have been able to see her dad (Paul Tomasello on bass) on stage at Montreux if you hadn't. The video quality is fine, considering the age and the transfer. Good job! This is rare, and I'm glad to see it.
AND ALL OF US IN NEW ORLEANS GOT TO SEE HIM LIVE MANY MANY TIMES AND I USE TO DRINK COFFEE WITH HIM AT A COFFEE SHOP ON PRYTINA ST BY THE TURO HOSPITAL HOW LUCKY CAN I BE DENNY R MAN
Thanks for posting this! The video quality is much better than others of this era, and this was the Roomful era I liked best. Not that any other line-ups are/were ever bad, but I would love to see a vid of this quality when Al Copley was still with them. Thanks again.
this is sensational, vintage stuff! Would live to see the full show, where can we find it? Meanwhile, several original Roomful members performed a reunion show, including Duke Robillard, Al Copley and the original 3 piece horn section - check it out - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_IA8C9sPx-o.html
