And earl had the highest gear of all time . Even today it’s that high , ask Jason Shaw 2 years ago at Rolling Stones tourney , earl beat him to a race to 9 I think in less than 25 min , he still has a high gear , it just doesn’t come out as much lol
I love the sound of the pocket of the gold crowns with ball returns like when you hit it at pocket speed I like the sound of the ball twirling in the rubber pocket
Keith is really something, a crouch like stance but still upright , a higher looped bridge . Cue far from his body, a side stroke. A single stroke mostly. He seems to shove the cue ball. Fast , very fast , runs around the table and despite all that does not miss. Awesome.
Saw Keith give a "local snooker champion" 22 points playing short rack on a tough snooker table for $2000 per game..... shot the guy out of $10,000 in about 2 hours.... yup
keith did not make any where close to 10 million dollars lol, natural player who chose smoking crack over the game period. Being the best takes practice and putting down the char boy. @@DeeMoback
Keith McCready has the most awkward-looking stance and shooting stroke I have ever seen by a professional. It is amazing that, despite it, he was once a world-class player.
Minnesota Fats was an unusual shooter also, A tall almost straight up stance, And aiming or looking at the shot was almost non existent... just bam bam bam...!
I agree very awkward but I guess it works for him. Also he is a Little too cocky for me. I was actually pulling for Earl on this one. They both have a funny kind of attitude about them.
@@tgh223 I'm sure you're right... But I was impressed how good he was for the style and stance he shot... I've tried it, and it does give a different perspective of the shot, that can be beneficial.
I’m sure a lot was cut out with these two playing. They both got mouths on them. I would’ve loved to seen it. Btw I like McCreedy but Earl is a straight up duck!
I think Earl likes Keith which is why he didn’t bust his chops. Both started around the same time (sort of). Keith’s resume doesn’t come close to Earls who in my opinion is the undisputed King of 9-ball but I sense mutual respect. I actually watched Keith go hill hill against Earl a few times, yes Keith can play. Thank you for the video.
I think they became friends after playing each other a few times. Keith said he beat Earl the first time he played him in a tournament. Nobody knew who Keith was. He only drove around the country playing pool for money.
McCready has a unique style. Bit of a sidewinder stroke. Was that Alex Pagulayan playing on the other table? Nice watching a couple of great players play in regular pool hall conditions versus sanitized TV matches.
Think it was Alex. Yes, I enjoy more regular conditions. Would really enjoy seeing them on a bar table with a bar cue at a bar...the way 99% of the world plays.
Just about every video people see nowadays with Keith in it is well after his best days...... Earl on the other hand continued for years as a force to be reckoned with....... Earl, Efren, Buddy Hall had amazing long-lasting skills.....truly amazing.... I do remember Keith when he was young and he indeed was awesome that is true......find a video when he had long hair and you would see him play pool...... time flies
@James Tyler back in the day..... BuddyHall had a rough time gambling with keeter ..... they played quite a few times as I remember..... lots of action back in those days.... and I knew Buddy back when he was skinny...... and BuddyHall was one of the greatest of all time..... FACT
Keith is an was a world beater I met him as a young kid out in California at hard times in Costa Mesa he was the killer I watched him match up against all opponents ! Was my pleasure to have met him
At about 20 minutes I noticed Santos on the table to the right on the screen. A lot of strong competition. I notice this was Joss Tour, but I am curious about the name of the pool parlor.
Gotta believe there was a side wager here. 2 former Real Deal gamblers before tour play.? Earl has said numerous times that he was a gambler not a hustler; didn't jive anyone, maybe gave a spot but straight up I'm running out, pay me, please.
McCready is great, the guy in Color of Money. They say just as in the movie he was the top moneymaker after the tournament play, hustling big bucks. I could see that talent in him: fast-moving and getting the big money... fast.
I saw Keith McCready give Mike Sigel the call eight.....Sigel quit.... a few years later I saw Strickland & Sigel play 10 ahead for$ 2000 in Tampa at Rockypoint resort...Earl was 9 games up missed a ball, Sigel ran the 7&8balls & had to shoot a long straight back 9ball that was froze...drilled it in ....Earl never won another gameSigel got back to even & Earl quit...
We still play loser racks where I play. Old bar box table too. Just 1 table in there. And the amount of people we have show up for tournaments to play the old school way, is insane. Sometimes go on for days. I’ve seen more impressive playing on that little table than I do at most tournaments. We also do completely random doubles tournaments, talk about an absolute blast, that one’s just more for fun though. And it is lol. You never know who you’ll get stuck with, or who will get stuck with you 🤣😂
@Cody2nd Sounds like fun! Those old professional tournaments weren't the highly sanitized versions we get today. Loser racks. Some players having a smoke and a beer. No silly shirts.
Most players lose talent not from age but from bad playing habits.. Keith on regular days plays for money with tavern people people he can beat by playing his worst game problem is he brings that to the tournaments..his good games are genius.. Strickland protects his talent but is impatient n bad tempered.. Keith took out Reyes at his best head to head then drinking and bad playing practice took over sadly but he was a joy to watch
I love to play pool, I love to play a great opponent..... But when it comes to gambling I'd prefer to not get in a bar fight or have a gun in my face. And when it comes to being a 'professional' pool player I'm glad I chose a different profession. Too bad that professional pool players are not compensated like professional golfers. Otherwise I may have chose differently.
Could’ve been? This is after his prime….in his prime, not many people could beat him…..and that’s a 100% fact….there’s no footage of him in his prime days, but those who know, know.
There are players that’s never once had a camera on them that were HIGHLY regarded as the best in the world, even today…..even by the legendary tournament players…..and these are guys that never played a tournament mind you….
There is no footage of this man at his prime. Like a lot of legendary players out there…..do some research, go listen to all the old timers stories…..there are no namers out there who used to run around running 100 racks of 9 ball. Never been beaten, ever. And they’d play for very very large amounts of money back then. No tournament no league no nothing…..
@@scottisitoro3953 yeah once the coke or the Crystal dosage was right they could play all night at a very high level. Dezoxin made the pockets look like 5 gallon buckets
