EARLY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN GERMANY// Hello everyone, I'm (Kirsten) am currently in Germany to visit my parents. Sadly Joerg had to stay in the UK as he is very very busy with work and couldn't take time off. It's so strange for me to film without him being there but I try to capture a little bit for you.
Last week my parents and I went to the factory outlet of Villeroy & Boch in Wadgassen, Saarland. Villeroy & Boch is a very traditional brand selling high quality china, glassware and bathroom products. We couldn't help but do some early Christmas shopping as they currently have so many beautiful things. It feels early but we already felt the festive spirit! We will probably go back before I leave for the UK. Hope you like the video. Kirsten x

My mother and grandmother had that same argument whenever they went shopping together - usually they would each insist on paying for lunch! I don't remember who would win but they established a family tradition because my sister and I do the same when we go out together - LOL!

Kirsten, I have never, never known anyone who was not English speak the language so flawlessly. There is no trace of any accent. It’s remarkable. What a treat, a visit to Villeroy and Boch. I have been to the factory in Mettlach and really enjoyed it and am planning a visit to the outlet you showed us. Love their goods and have been collecting pieces for years. Thanks so much for this video, really enjoyed it. Your parents are lovely.

To me there is certainly a trace of a different accent and occasional odd pronunciation/ annunciation sometimes (nothing wrong with that) , being someone who lives in England and is English myself. But her accent is very good

I started loving Villeroy & Boch 16 years ago when I purchased a Christmas Trinket box collection…..and then a set for my Mum. Since then I have the most gorgeous pieces of Christmas Cookie jars, platters, cake stands & decorations which give me so much joy at Christmas. I don’t like packing them up in January in their beautiful red boxes but looking forward to getting them out this year in about another week here in Australia. Thank you so much for the lovely tour in Germany it was very much enjoyed. 🎄🎄

Just loved be exposed to the German language which I have not spoken since I was six.Living in Scotland and right after the war we were not allowed to speak in German and had to learn English very quickly .🤗

Oh, Kirsten, thank you so much for taking us along on your visit. My niece received some beautiful Villeroy & Bosch pieces 25 years ago for her wedding. But, I learned so much more from you today about this company and understand why it is so beloved. The towns you visited are so lovely and the history very interesting. What an absolutely beautiful assortment of Christmas things! This truly is an exceptional brand. When I was young, I would see many beautiful displays of china and dinnerware in department stores. Now the younger people seem to mostly be drawn to plain, bull, neutral colors so that’s all I generally see. This was a treat!

The holidays in Germany must feel so cozy and special! Even more when you're able to be with your parents. I bet buying Christmas items with your Mom and Dad is extra special -especially when it's filmed for preservation! Years from now you can look back at the video and see exactly when and where you were when it was picked up!

I know you cherish the moments with your family...so glad you could do this, considering the world "situation". My Mom passed away last February and hadn't seen most of her grandkids and great-grandkids in the last year of her life because of the "situation". Dear Kirsten, Thank you for another delightful video. This one was extra-special because your lovely parents were with you. They are so sweet, God bless them, and they are obviously very close with you, which is lovely to see. Also, I was so impressed with all the pretty Christmas tableware, thete were so many pretty things I would love to buy, the very small dishes for biscuits and sweets were beautiful. The flower arrangements, especially the Christmas wreath, were beautiful. We have a similar tradition in Ireland. November 1st is All Souls Day or All Saints Day, when it is traditional to visit the graves of deceased loved ones, to tidy up the grave and leave flowers there. So nice to see your parents it’s so beautiful to see a couple grow old together and their lovely daughter spending precious time with them. Kirsten the bakery with all those German cakes 🤩 I wish you would have had the chance to tell us about them. I’ve never been to Germany and am very curious about the culinary traditions there. The Xmas tableware and decorations at Villeroy & Boch were so beautiful!! I loved the napkins that you picked out. And the music you played while showcasing the store is so soothing!! Your filming was just FINE! We always love to see the two of you together doing things but in real life, we all understand that isn’t always possible. So glad you had some time with your lovely parents. I am approaching 70 myself, my children live away. It is very important to see them whenever possible. I have adored Villeroy and Boch since I first saw their tableware on a popular Italian cooking show here in Canada in the '80's. Beautiful pieces! Very special. How lovely that you got to spend time with your parents and do a bit of shopping. Treasure these times, Kirsten, as I know you do...I so miss shopping with my Mum. She would insist on buying whatever I picked much to my refusal! We would always stop somewhere for tea and a cake or a bowl of soup, and by the end of the day we would be exhausted but very pleased with our little finds! Shopping with my Dad was another story altogether! He would never pay for anything that wasn't on sale, and would get quite cross with Mum and I for loving and wanting to buy something that was perhaps a wee bit expensive....lol

My parents spent Christmas many years ago in England and absolutely loved the traditions. We have our own traditions but we have incorporated a few of those British traditions also. I adore old fashioned Christmases. Your parents seem so sweet. I hope you have a lovely visit and safe travels home.

I live an hours drive from Saarbrücken so I know what Kirsten is talking about. Villeroy and Boch - I have the Herbaria service gifted to me by my mom. Unfortunately it isnt manufactured anymore. But with Villeroy & Boch I always have a problem: their motives are way to pretty to cover them with food! Beautiful weather also here. I was surprised that you went to Germany on your own but then again it is a splendid occasion for some Christmas shopping for Jörg and friends in UK as well as spending quality time with your parents.

So lovely seeing you with your beautiful parents..They are so cute. The Christmas crockery was absolutely gorgeous. So much variety and definitely got me thinking about the festive season coming up. My sister bought me a stunning Villeroy and Boch cutlery set a few years back from the U.K. it was so heavy, I still can’t believe she brought it all the way to the US! Amazing quality.I did not know it was a German brand! And she would say it’s the best brand in the world! Thank you

I discovered Villeroy and Boch when I was looking for some cheery dinner plates (after my kids broke a couple of my favorites) - they have the loveliest designs and colors! It was fun to "shop" with you and your parents without dealing with parking or crowds (-: - though it seems you were able to bypass those as well, happily.

Hello to your lovely parents! You are so blessed to be able to visit with your parents and spend quality time with them. I wish mine were still alive, I miss being able to visit with them and hold their hands, give them hugs and kisses. I really enjoyed mooching around shops with my parents. My husband is not a shop moocher/shopper, but my parents were just like my sister and me… I loved looking at the lovely German Christmas items with you and your parents, so much fun. Loved looking at the flower arrangements for All Saints Day (Nov 1st.) with your sister. I would have like to have seen her too! I loved the Christmas decorations you purchased. This was lovely Kirsten. I’m missing my December visits to the German Christmas markets so this has helped to make up for it. I have some of the Villeroy & Boch tree decorations and dishes and there is something very special about them.
