To answer the opening question. He needs to go back in time and kidnap goerge reeves and Christopher reeve and have them play alternate world superman.
Cast looks good indeed. Nathan Fillion is gonna eat up his role with glee and I'm looking forward to it. I've no issue with the Superman suit, but it's the grim pose of him get his boots on with the imploding planet background that hearkens back to the bleak Snyderverse in my head. This is Superman, we're talking about. Let his face be tilted *upwards* in an expression of hope and courage, rather than cast downward. I'd be more on board if an image of Superman against the sunlight or floating above a hill were sent to the public instead. Frankly, DC and Marvel have destroyed so much of their heroes in the last several years that I'm hoping at least *one* of them can start clawing their way back into the light.
There are things I both do and don't like about the new costume. I'll start with the "bad" as I like to end on a positive. What I don't like: The high neck collar and the lines. That's it for the negatives, since, if there is a sequel, things like an open neck collar and ditching the lines are realistic changes a character could make in the story. I might not like those design elements, but I can still enjoy the movie. Now, onto what I do like about the suit: It lacks the fake muscles. That padding and definition layer on the Snyder suit was comical. It stood out, was obvious, and unconvincing. I despise fake muscle suits. David Corenswet got huge for this role, and there is no need for fake muscle so it isn't there. Even though in the photo David's not in a position to really show off muscle, it's still easy to tell how sturdy his arms looks. My bet is this will look a whole lot better when it's a clean costume and he's actually standing in a heroic pose. Gunn was showing us Superman at what looks like a low moment for a reason. I liked Peacemaker and the GotG films, and so I'll still give this one a chance even, despite my different aesthetic taste on a neck collar.
I would say James Gunn would need to make a good movie. The Suicide Squad was alright overall and I enjoyed Peacemaker but that’s it. I hated the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, he has a tendency to put dumb humor in and I flat out just don’t like the guy. The issues I have with the Superman image that was released, portrays to me an uncaring Superman. Like “uhh here we go again” he’s putting the suit on like he doesn’t care. The city is being destroyed and he could put it on in a fraction of a second. Idk my thoughts, I just don’t think he’ll take it seriously. But then again I’m one of those Snyderverse fans that loved the BVS extended cut, the Snyder cut, Man of Steel etc. Plus Henry Cavil was done dirty and I love that guy.
That's fair. I have said Man of Steel is a decent superhero film, but it's a terrible Superman film. The Snyderverse was doomed with the old regime of Ann Sarnoff, Toby Emmerich, and Walter Hamads. A new regime had to be put in charge. Like them or not, GotG franchise by all accounts was a success. Gunn knows everything is riding on this film when it comes to the future of DC Studios.
You need to open your eyes and because that suit is awful ; Sad Sack Superman , check :Dull muted colors check ; ugly logo on his chest ,check : baggy ass suit that fits like a jacket instead of being from fitting , check ; Lazily puts on his clothes as Metropolis burns instead of moving at the speed of light , check .
I always think DCEU must take a rest 5-7 years before starting a new movie universe. Watching and observing what the fans and the market want. In the meantime, they can make a few stand-alone mid-budget movies without any obligations to unite them in one universe. Movies like Swamp Thing, Constantine, Captain Atom, Vixen, or heck even a low-budget Solomon Grundy R-rated slasher movie can work.
It's 50-50 right now; those two photos don't tell us much; the Green Lantern one looks like a mock-up, not a final design. When we get a trailer, we can really start talking about it. Great vid!
Maybe, not put out a bad first image? That's actually not that hard. Even Zack Snyder managed to do that right. I don't think the Green Lantern pic is even legit. Of course, I think the Superman pic is full AI too.
Could it have been better...sure. A BTS candid of Corenswet putting on the costume with an AI background wouldn't have been my first choice either. Doesn't change the fact of people in our sphere already saying the film is going to suck. Let's get some more context in a trailer, a score, something before we bury it. Unlike other studios (coming from Disney mostly) that have worn out any benefit of doubt, Gunn (in my opinion) has earned that. Just my opinion.
Let me know of a good movie he's made and I'll start in with the movies. So far, even he despises his new Superman movie. He's disappeared, where he should've stayed at in the first place. Let Snyder finish his story and finish it to complete Superman's redemption arc after the Knightmare story. It will resume in time, the stocks show it for the whole company. It's just a heaping pile of trash.

🤣you’re confused where the hate of a muted color and depressed Superman after being told it’s going to be bright and hopeful? Or the suit not fitting? Or it’s a horrible mix bag of different suits which looks bad in the end
Muted colors: covered in soot, night setting. Not fitting: BTS of David Corenswet putting on costume against an AI background. Never once said that the image was great. Clearly stated that in my opinion when compared to the Snyderverse costume the elements are an improvement. Thank you for the comment.
@@THEJOKERSVOICE look at the parts not covered in soot. It’s muted. Not bright like reeve. Being bts doesn’t change the fact it’s baggy. Gunn legit thought this was fire and a great final piece. Hence why he put it with the AI background. Horrible first reveal Def not an improvement. Downgrade. That’s why 9/10 agree.

First, that Green Lantern image is a fan concept, we don't know what the suit looks like yet. Tbh though I'm fine with it. What I'm not fine with is how superman is looking. Yeah, I like James Gunn, but every detail out of this movies production makes me more and more worried, especially with how much of DC is riding on this film. From what we know about the plot, this movie is going to introduce SO MANY new characters, and superman will be joining an existing world of superheroes. And yeah, this suit is better than Cavill's comic wise, but it's still a very overdesigned thick rubbery suit, with a military-esque collar, and it's very clearly not made by his parents. And that logo.. I know its from the kingdom come comic, but design wise, it represents everything I don't want out of this character. An inhuman, abstract, alien. Not a kid from Kansas. With so much ground to cover with all these new characters, the suit being alien and mcu esque, I'm worried that the character of Clark is going to get lost yet again. It would mean so more if, as Lex is berating Clark for being an alien, he's wearing a ripped, homemade, fabric suit, with a clear S, for superman. A suit is a huge part of a movie's identity, (for example, the dark, edgy amazing spiderman suit vs the bright, techy homecoming suit) and god I hope Gunn proves me wrong, but if this suit represents the whole movie, it'll be everything I don't want it to be.
Sorry, I know it is a lot of complaining, with the "fans are always mad" thing, but like. I feel like this design just falls short, and has a ton of issues people have been complaining about for years. Especially BECAUSE James Gunn has made such amazing comic accurate suits, like in the Suicide Squad and peacemaker. Those designs were a breath of fresh air, and Gunn got a ton of praise for them! But this suit resembles the MCU's worst much more than Gunn's old amazing suits.
I can fully agree that this image was not the best to use. Is the suit perfect...of course not. I'm willing to give Gunn some benefit of the doubt. I think he's earned it. Just my $0.02
If there's a lot of hate, there's a reason for it. People are tired of these "modern" treatments. The suit looks sloppy. Are those his Superman pajamas?
And where has James Gunn given any indication of taking a "modern" approach to this film. He is on record saying that Superman is to embody Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Not exactly in line with modern Hollywood.
I think the suit looks fine, and I'm definitely team-trunks. Need something to break up the monotonous blue of the previous suit. As long as we get a happier brighter Superman than the deconstructed hero type that Zack Snyder was going for, we'll be fine.
The only way complaints will go away is if the company sells the DC property rights to a company with a more competent President and director. One that knows how to appease to both fan bases instead of just the casual. As well as himself, and that's why the DCU is on such a low level of debt now. He doesn't listen to what all the fans want to see. Only what he believes Superman should be like and what casuals always believe he stands for. When in reality, there are multiple versions of him and not everyone of them are point, spot on Christopher Reeves like.
Terrible photo that’s the first thing people see? He looks miserable … he’s supposed to be a beacon of hope. The background has an alien or something destroying the city and he’s just taking his time putting on his boots 🤣
