Today's adventure brings us to Chicago, Illinois to find the firehouse owned by Gary Hubson (Kyle Chandler). This filming location was for the exterior shots of McGinty's bar. Early Edition ran from 1996 to 2000 on CBS.

Early Edition was on TV the year I was born, so I can't telle this is a part of my childhood... But as a grown French girl now, I just can tell that I LOVE it! Gary Hobson is my top 1 of all superheroes :D I often binge watch the TV show, I'm soooo lucky it's available on a French streaming platform :3 (both in original and dubbed versions, what a lucky girl I am!)

You can't imagine how glad I am that it's a historical landmark. It would be so sad to see this lovely spot of my childhood TV memories torn down for some modern constructions. Thank you for reminding me of the show I used to like as a kid, and actually still do. Hope one day I'll be able to visit this place as well.

I was an extra in the show 3 times in the 4th year of the show , the last episode is the one you can see in the best. it was called luck of the Irish. I'm wearing a green sweatshirt acting like I'm talking to somebody , but you can't see who it is and I'm right behind Henry Gibson and Kyle Chandler , I don't know the name of the other actor . You can also see me looking at him during "the toast to the wedding", acting like I'm say to myself " man this guy has got some problems. It was a lot of fun and the easiest $50 bucks I ever made.

That is so cool. A friend of mine used to do extra work on the various Chicago shows and it's always neat to hear behind the scene stories.

I think the intended finale was dropped or switched with the "luck of the Irish" episode. Did you have any interesting or surprising experiences/anecdotes during filming?

Lucky!!😊🤸 How cool was that?!!! I'll look for you if I can ever find "Luck of the Irish" on You tube again. 😁 Anybody here belong to any EE message boards at the time? Does the name Sky Dancer ring a bell for anyone here? Any fan fic writing websites you belong too? I'm trying to hook up with some old friends from our EE watching fan group days. We. had. a. blast! 😀☺

Why does nobody buys this House and make a bar "McGintys" of it? Greetings from Germany I see the TV show at the moment again. Also as a child 1997. :-) But with german dubbed voices. In german the show is calling: "Allein Gegen Die Zukunft ". In English: "Alone against the Future"

Maybe HGTV could buy the property & turn it into the real McGinty's bar just like they turned the Brady house for the exteriors into the real Brady house inside.(???)

@@AdventureswithMike I've been trying to track down someone at HGTV to express this idea. So far, I've sent a message online & left a message on the phone, but I have no idea if whoever receives these has anything to do with this sort of decision. It seems to be a very complicated issue, involving people from the Food Network & Sherwin-Williams. I can't seem to find out who/what the parent company/corporation is or whatever. It makes it harder that I don't have cable, so can't even watch the HGTV channel. I kept up with the "Brady Bunch" story on-line (Yahoo/Google/RU-vid), so I'm not sure where to go/who to talk to at this point. Also at issue is whether they'd have the money &/or interest to do this & whether the cast would be interested in reuniting for the project. This was never exactly an ever-present hit in reruns through the years, although it has grown in popularity over time, probably because actual newspapers are getting increasingly scarce, though they're not gone yet. I wonder how many fans it will take to make such a thing seem warranted. There certainly were a lot of great guest stars & cameos, from Jane Krakowski to Ernest Borgnine; from George Takei to Marion Ross to even the Sun-Times critic himself, Roger Ebert. We'll see if I get any response from anyone.

Cool to be able to see places used in TV and movies, I'm sure there's tons there. I'd like to see some John Hughes locations. Have you ever seen anything actually being filmed around the area?
@AdventureswithMike

I have seen a car commercial being filmed, which they'll sometimes do on the weekends. My sister though came across the set decorating of The Dark Knight. They had changed stops on the L to Gotham. I would love to see the Blues Brothers locations and of course some John Hughes.
