Sort of? The Doctor kinda messed with that. Rose was given the powers of a Time Lord god (and a Clone of the doctor) but is Human. River is Human but can travel thru time and regenerate. Ditto The Doctor's daughter, technically a Human/Galafrayen hybrid. Dona is basically Rose with her memory wiped. Clera... I think she might be MORE than a Time Lord and that diner was a TARDIS, not sure how she got ahold of that.
David Kelly It was the second one the doctor stole when he tried to take Clara with him, however after being memory wiped she changed the appearance to that of a diner. The doctor when he left went into his Blue box TARDIS
@@davidkelly4210 The Doctor's daughter didn't regenerate - she got resurrected Spock style by "the Source" terraforming device. I don't think she was a hybrid either. The machine cloned him with a lot of genetic reshuffling as I recall. (Clone a male and take away the Y chromosome you get a daughter). Clara's diner tardis is the new one with the First doctor era style interior that she and the doctor stole in that episode. The Doctor's tardis was still on earth when he was trapped and sent to gallifrey.
@@davidkelly4210 River was conceived on board the TARDIS while flying thru the Vortex of space time. Some Galifreyans became Time Lords due to there proximity to the Vortex, or as Ten would say....the Untimpered Schism of time itself.
All Gallifreyans are Timelords. Dr. Who is the misfit who took a liking to Earth and wanted to leave Gallifrey. He was considered a lesser Timelord for caring for the humans. Dr. Who is a thief who stole a tardis. He can't even pilot the tardis properly. In the early episodes the Doctor was imprisoned to Earth space. He could move back and forth in time. If he left Earth space after a time he was automatically sent back. This fact saved the Doctor in one episode. In another episode a Timelord visiting the Doctor told him how to stop an Earth shuttering bomb. In past story lines having Gallifreyans it was established that they are a binary species. They come as males and females. No season 11 BS.
In other words : They are a guild of beta players who used an early exploit to upload a mod to the server preserving their leet status? Sounds about right. Though I'd have expected other guilds to have attacked said fixed points to take control of the server.
Nah they went a step further and used more early gliches to stop that from being possible, until they went afk for a few years while another guild "Darleks" with knowledge of their glitches performed the same exploits to eventaly fight then for the top spot when they came back.
From the books and Audio Dramas. and comics, which unlike other fandoms, are cannon in Dr. Who. Omega and Rastilon were both scientists. Galifreians had developed a problem, they could no longer reproduce. Omega invented a machine (think a glass tube the body stands in) that would reconfigure the DNA of the recently deceased and produce a new body. Only this early process we today would recognize as regeneration, this early process required machines, could take place long after the person died, and did not retain the memory of the previous person. Rastilon came up with the Matrix, the computer core, which uses the minds of the dead as a sort of living computer. But Rastilon wanted more. Galifreians were long lived, typically 2,000 years but some lived to 12,000. Rastilon eventually came up with a virus that would allow Galifrians to regenerate, without machines, and keep their memories. The 1st version allowed for infinite regenerations. But the cost was it only convert 1/3 of the people. 2/3rds would die. Again his pal Omega stepped in and fixed the problem. He found a way to alter the virus, that would not kill 2/3rds those not converted would still live. But those who were compatible would have 12 regenerations. Thus the 1st Time lords were created. Rastilon had however already used the virus on himself. As such he is immortal. He ruled as a tyrant for 1.5 million years, was overthrown and kept in a tomb. There was some way to halt his next regeneration, but not stop it. Rastilon was brought back during the Time War, in hopes he could save them, yet again. the History of Rastilon and Omega is very similar to the doctor and Master. (Omega was destroyed creating the Eye of Harmony. like big Bang 2 except Big Bang 1 there was no red haired girl to cry him back into our universe. only the tyrant Rastilon. .
This is no longer considered canon, since it contradicts to much of the other Who lore and stories, the Comics are considered their own separate canon, along with some of the more far fetched books like the one with the birthing Looms. Mostly, Doctor Who Canon is a mess since so much of it contradicts itself.
@@ZatoichiBattousai The Virgin Novels series is considered pseudo-cannon yes and that's where the Loom stuff comes from, but the rest of it is from the original tv series. All the other Expanded Universe stuff (such as BBC annuals, BBC books, comics and audio novels) is considered firm cannon.
So Chibnall just took a massive dump on all this. This is a fantastic and comprehensive video summing up the true history of the Timelords. Nice work dude.
Tell that to Chibnall. He is going to rewrite that entire thing, leading to the problem that then suddenly there won't longer be an explanation for the pre-Hartnell Doctors whose faces were shown in The Brain of Morbius even though the first Doctor clearly was the first incarnation of his first regeneration cycle.
Mario Quade I own The Brain of Morbius on DVD. The special features with interviews on the dvd, They did think at the time those should be regenerations before Heartnell. But this was quickly fixed and like you say the show has now confirmed on multiple occasions that Heartnell is the first Doctor. So for me: Chibs better be careful with whatever retcon is coming with season 12. Because I will not be happy if he tries to shove anyone before Heartnell!! Heartnell is the Original!! Forever for me!

You missed the interactions the Galifarians had with the Osirans and other powerful races that fell to war or disaster during the Dark Times. Another thing you should have touched on besides the bow ships were the other horrible weapons Rasalon created to both protect Gallifrey, other throw the previous rulers, and conquer other races. Things like living metal and the Dematerialization Gun.
I find it interesting (=cool) that you included The Other as in "Rassilon, Omega and The Other" (who is as far as I know only referenced in "Remembrance of the Daleks" (and only in the novelisation by Ben Aaronovitch (who also wrote the episode)) and the New Adventures novel "Lungbarrow")), who is a very interesting character created by Andrew Cartmel with the "Cartmel Masterplan" in mind to add more mystery to Doctor Who. Sadly the show went into hiatus before the plan came into fruitation.
@@peterweeks2066 It's possible, Marc Platt was also encouraged by Andrew Cartmel to write ideas from his masterplan. (I never got the chance to read those two books.)
I love Gallifrey lore! Would you consider doing a video on the Weeping Angels? I think I remember they are supposed to be almost as old as this universe and it would be interesting to know where (and how) you would place them on the timeline.
They are ideal forms though right? So wouldn't that make them exactly as old as matter is? Or possibly older... I guess they are one species that has earned the right to be as arrogant as the Timelords. Even if the Daleks pull it off without a hitch.

You got the part about the Beast wrong. He was from an alternate, and older, universe. The Lords of Light sealed him in his base planet, and then cast it into a nearby universe. One that was an empty void. They set up the 'black hole trap' so that his followers from their universe wouldn't be able to free him. They expected to be trapped in that empty void forever. But then... Something happened. The pilot of Terminus dumped his fuel. Right into that void. ... BOOM! ... Hello new universe. Hello evolving life. Hello sapient life. Hello spacefaring sapient life. That the Beast can use to free himself.

Something like this needs to be explored in the form of a Dr.Who/Time Lord origin story in the form of the Pythian Empire and its fall to Rassilon's Rebellion.
Did you know that Dwapara Yuga is a legitimate name for a period in our planet's history? The Vedic scriptures and histories tell a super fascinating story of the planet's past. Seeing as how the Vedas have the correct distances between the planets, I don't see why they would make up a history for giggles. I'm reading the Bhagavad Purana, also some fascinating lore there. Too bad it's not on TV yet.
Which Eye of Harmony? The original one under the Time Lord Citadel or the one on board the TARDIS? Remember, Moffat re-canonized that in two of his stories. My own personal head canon establishes that all Type 40 TARDISes had their own Eye of Harmonies. And thus that was another reason to decommission them, so there wouldn't be any of them traveling out in space with their own independent power systems.
@@reversethepolarityoftheneu773 that's what a lot of fandom embraced after the TV Movie but Moffat was pretty literal with it being more than just a link to the original in "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS". Since Gallifrey technically didn't exist at the time, or was in a pocket universe, depending upon ones interpretation.

The rival series itself changed many of the laws of the universe and history itself, so other than specific fixed points in space and time there is no history, but the moment you are in.
Wow, this is perhaps the most epistemology heavy premise of a show ever. Guys are literally configuring reality itself like it's a puzzle all for the sake of solving it rather than gaining power, fame and whatsoever material pleasures an organism could muster.

I remember the talk on the vampires and bow-ships that defeated them in the original series. You didn't however mention the Eye of Harmony or the Matrix.
He didn't mention The Eternals that clashed with the Galifreyans before they became timelords. The Eternals were also there during the Dark Times and the War with the Racnoss.
Which I honestly just don't agree with this... It Retcon many things as it tried to answer shit..... Which was not done well and Personally I stand by it should have never been done.
Im was kinda under the impression that the time lords somehow created gravity in a way or at least connected time, space, and gravity together so they didn't overlap

Essentially they created causality, before the anchoring events could occur out of order or even at the same time, after the web was created things could only occur chronologically and there was cause and effect to events.
Doctor Who hasn't been must see TV since Capaldi era. It's been downhill ever since IMO. Rotten Tomatoes website audience score was so bad recently they had to scrap it.

I like the abandoned plot thread that Peter cushings Dr Who travelled to galafrey in the dark times. He gave them time travel technology and was the being know as the Other.
The show started as an educational program with a time travel gimmick, basically its The Magic Schoolbus if it spent 50 years chasing trends and becoming entirely self referential as opposed to looking outward.

I have always assumed but never had it confirmed for me till now that the Sisterhood of Karn were Gallifrayan. Does this make them the first females of that species to be seen in Dr Who? Did we only see male Timelords before the Brain of Morbius? I think so. This gets me wondering whether the show-runners of Dr Who briefly considered a sex-segregated society in which all the women were magic-users and all the men technologists. It's an interesting notion, but not really a sustainable one for long-term audience-friendly story-telling, and I'm happy we pretty quickly got the likes of Romana thrown into the mix. Edit: How could I forget Susan! I guess the difference there is we never knew _what_ the Doctor and his grand-daughter were at that time in the the development of the series.

I always viewed the Web of Time as something akin to the DC timeline with fixed points as things say the Wayne Family going to Crime Alley; 3 Waynes go in but all three can't come out
Somehow this story sounds similar to the creation story from Scientology (written up by the Pilot. Google: Super Scio). Earlier Magic Universe, Time Reset, beings manipulating laws of physics, planets moved "outside of the time and space", different nature laws because of the disagreements of creating beings, etc. It's all there, but WAY more in-depth. It's a good read if you skip the parts about how to run the procedures and other technical stuff.
I think that at one point this was a reality, but if we really think about how the time war went; it basically rewrote reality several times; making the genesis of the universe different every time it was rewritten.
In current continuity, yes. Unless time lords have them locked away in index of some kind. I know know for sure there are time lords in another universe where magic and technology are both used. With Doctor/Merlin.
Except for the tenth doctor's clone who is living happily ever after with rose Tyler (and her mum) in an alternate universe where rose was never born. Rose's father never died in this alternate universe but, Rose's mum from the alternate universe is dead so her dad is living with Rose's mum from Rose's original universe. Make sense? Lol
