An action packed day of early season ice fishing! A ton of bass and pike caught by myself and a few famous RU-vidrs:

I almost fell asleep from watching this video. I'm not saying it was boring at all. It was VERY entertaining. The calm atmosphere of all of your videos is just what catches new viewers' attention, and I think it has really been a good break for me from the screaming voices of the Googan Squad! That 1st Pike has a good size stomach for early ice fishing season. He's been fattening up during late fall for the winter season. Actually all the Pike have good size stomachs. Great vid Matt.

We tried sight fishing through a big hole in the ice at this spot a week later and there were a ton of little 3-6” perch there. Those pike and bass are eating well!

I can't stop laughing!! I have a friend like this. You can put a 5 gal bucket of water in the middle of a parking lot, he could walk up drop a line in it and pull out a trophy bass.

@@giantgrowth4204 Fargo shares a border with MN land of 10,000 lakes.. Fargo has the Red River and Sheyene river which are freezing over now but not solid. Detroit lakes is popular and Lake of the Woods is walleye capitol of the world..hope it helps.

Take those size all day! I use a stick with braided line , handbalm style in the winter. That’s if I’m catching dinner. if I’m enjoying myself, I will bust out the rod. Great video

On the note of pike being tougher than they look - that's honestly an understatement. I've caught quite a few absolutely shredded pike, that still fought as hard as any other. Best (or worst) example, one time I caught a 21 inch pike on a crankbait over this summer. It was missing half of its entire upper jaw, was super skinny, and it had absolutely no teeth in its mouth. I've never seen a pike without teeth. I put that poor thing out of it's misery with a good head bonk with a rock and threw it back to give something (probably another pike) a meal, even though it was clearly suffering it still gave my rod a couple decent tugs. Also have caught them with missing gills and gnarly open wounds from other pike, they fight and swim off as if nothing happened to them. Next to catfish they're one of the hardiest fish to be caught I think

I have been ice fishing on Lake Winnepesaukee in New Hampshire many many times and I have never seen a bass come through the ice.

By the way, that lake is the sixth largest landlocked body of water in the United States. The Great Lakes all being connected to the ocean through the St. Lawrence seaway.

Excellent video, dude! The only thing that surprised me is that you were catching Largemouth Bass, as opposed to Smallmouth Bass. I found that to be kinda odd, but, whatever. At least you were catching fish!

I’ve tried to find smallies through the ice a few times on a reservoir I fish during the summer months, haven’t had much luck though other than an occasional one or two roaming through when I set up in deeper water on the channel. There’s a couple other lakes with them I might have to try fishing this winter.
