Well gee thanks bro. I know what you're saying but as Japan you can't go interventionalism first. You HAVE TO go homesteading and agrarianism as those are the only 2 options. You ofc should later change to interventionalism and commercialized, but it's impossible to go straight for those at the starts.

@@LudietHistoria Because a lot of newer Japan players tend to think that faster=better for the Restoration JE, and that's just not the case. The main reason you do the Restoration in the first place is to get a better leader with a better IG. Because of the political laws that Japan starts with, (Monarchy+Autocracy) it is IMMENSELY difficult to form any sort of legitimate government if the leader's IG isn't in power. And because the leader is a landowner, and you want to industrialize and actively pass laws that they dislike, that's a problem. Triggering the Restoration too early replaces the landowner Shogun with Emperor Ninko, who is ALSO landowner, which means you don't actually change the political situation at all, and now you're right back where you started; with laws that make it impossible to form a government because of your leader IG. So, the optimal move is to wait until I think 1852 so that you get Komei instead, who is an armed forces leader. Which isn't fantastic, but its WAY better than a landowner leader. Honestly it's really dumb that it's designed this way, because it feels like the game actively punishes you for doing well and finishing the Journal Entry quickly. But with how the event is currently coded, it is actively better to sit and wait until you can get Komei to complete it. (edited for spelling)

I stayed isolationist up until the 80s. 200 mines of coal should be enough. There's also like 300 iron mines too. Oil is super limited tho.

Since 1.5 or 1.6 any western powers will knock on your door to open free trade around 1870s. In the current 1.7 however I got England to come by as early as 1940s. Possibly as the result of expanding iron mines and construction sector and liberalizing too early. As a note though, it seems you can reliably get market liberal instigator for landowner very early due to the Java eruption in the 40s. If you keep your rice price high enough, people will piss off and demand change and a new political instigator will appear and you can appoint him to lead the land owner. Though I can’t keep him alive long enough to get all the change I want, he’ll mysterious die after a year or two. You can also avoid being demand to open up by getting friendly with France and England at game start. They will get extremely friendly with you for some reasons, even Scandinavia.

@@ayuvir you could shoot for building agricultural buildings in your home provinces, make sure you have proper qualifications for the work of course. Portugal is a nation in 1836 that is most likely gonna have to have high taxes to survive the start. It is fun but you really have to grind in the start.

I have the same issue. I think it has been patched so you need to be 10 years when the right conditions. Near impossible I think, given the power of the landowners, and you need 10 years is 50+ legitimacy without them. If you let them in, it's an immediate fail, so Ludi's strategy got a lot harder
