Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, inaugurated the capital's first Early Childhood Education Center (ECE). This initiative reveals his efforts to prioritize early childhood development and its role in shaping a child's future.
Dr. Siddiqui emphasized the profound impact of such facilities on early childhood development, highlighting the rapid expansion plans across the nation. "The first years of a child's life are paramount," he remarked, echoing recent scientific findings that illustrate how crucial these formative years are in neural development and learning.
Mr. Mohyddin A Wani, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, lauded the initiative and described its roots in a successful pilot project spanning urban schools. He emphasized the importance of integrated facilities, including essential amenities like attached bathrooms for children, in ensuring a conducive environment for young learners.
The project director outlined plans to extend ECE to fifty rural and fifty urban schools, with comprehensive staff training facilitated by the collaboration with American Lycetuff DNK School System. This training initiative aims to equip educators with the specialized skills necessary to support early childhood education effectively.
Baela Jamil, CEO at Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi, hailed the initiative as a "Great Leap Forward," advocating for sustained financial commitments and establishing a dedicated ECE cadre. She emphasized aligning these efforts with the Tashkent Declaration of 2022, illustrating a cohesive approach toward advancing early childhood education nationwide.
According to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has set a precedent for nurturing young children's cognitive, emotional, and social development with the inauguration of Islamabad's inaugural ECE center. This foundational step lays the groundwork for future educational initiatives and underscores the government's dedication to ensuring every child in Pakistan has access to quality early childhood education.
