📜 object history:
The stronghold currently located on the edge of the Grabówka forest, between the villages of Lubomia and Syrynia, was probably the center of tribal power of the Slavic Golensizi tribe. The 'Bavarian Geographer' dating back to 845 informs that this tribe had 5 strongholds. The stronghold in Lubomia was built in the second half of the 7th century, initially as an open settlement, but already in the 8th century it was fortified with a system of embankments. The layout was relatively extensive: the maidan had a diameter of over 100 meters and was surrounded by two rings of earth embankments, additionally reinforced with wooden elements. The stronghold was also protected by two dry moats - one outside the site, the other between the two rings of embankments. On the eastern side of the stronghold, there was a ward surrounded by an earth embankment and a moat. Entrance to the stronghold was possible through two gates (on the eastern and western sides). The stronghold was burned and destroyed during one of the expeditions of the Great Moravian prince Svatopluk, conducted in the years 874-885. The reconstruction of the complex was abandoned. Archaeological research carried out in the 1930s and 1960s established that there were large wooden structures in the stronghold, probably of a cult nature (temples). Very clear remains of the earth fortifications have survived to this day.
