Collecting the wood for winter is hard work. We've done that for years to burn in our wood stove. You have to cut it down, cut it up and let it season, splitting the wood .... stacking it and then during the winter bringing it to burn to keep your home warm. They also gather the wood for cooking.. We only cook on the wood stove when our electricity goes out due wintere storms or tornadoes.
