Hope this helps, i have done a lot of experimenting while fishing, and while fishing and using a furled leader with added nylon tippet i have gone down to as little as 1ft of nylon on crystal clear water and still taken trout on the dry fly, for me i very rarely go above 4ft of tippet (3-4ft been my ideal lengh) unless fish flat glass calm clear water. I know this goes against most peoples thinking, but that is my findings.
