Thank you Ryan for all your informative content over the years. I’ve been following your channel for the past few years while I have been caring for my elderly mother’s lawn and extensive flower garden in northern New Jersey. Sadly she passed away earlier this year at 92. She lived her entire life in the same small modest house and that house has been in our family for 100 years. The lawn was always a mess when my dad was alive he cursed it all the time. All I ever wanted was a healthy looking lawn. No stripes just reasonably weed free and full. With the help of your channel I have finally got it looking very good and the neighbors all compliment me on how nice it looks. Unfortunately going forward I cannot afford to keep the house and we are going to have to sell. I will probably end up in an apartment or condo. So it looks like my days of working in the yard will be ending very soon. I will miss it and I know that nobody else will take the time and care for the lawn and all of her beautiful flowers like I have. When I used to visit her there would always be some plant or flower to be planted even though I always struggled to find a place for it. This message is not about crabgrass though I have had my battles with it. It’s just a honest and sincere thank you for all that I have learned from you about lawn care and been able to apply. I’ll surely continue to follow your channel but I will miss being able to get my hands dirty. Thanks!

Ryan, I know a lot of other Canadians follow you, and hopefully I speak for them. There are no commercially available chemical pre-emergents available in Canada. All I’ve really found in stores is corn gluten meal, which is something to try but it sure ain’t no Prodiamine. Some guys import it from the states, illegally. Yes, we have an herbicide black market! Also, no post-em grassy weed control. No tenacity, no quinclorac. For post-em we get 2-4,D and Dicamba for leafy stuff, and glyphosate for everything else. Any insight like this is so useful on what to if you can’t use such products. It’s about all we’ve got to go on a lot of the time. So thanks, and I humbly request more such content!

Not much you can do. I haven't sprayed a single plot at my new place so it all starts with great grass seed and growing it in as thick as possible to start

I feel your pain, we have dandelions really bad and other than spot spraying with off the shelf weed killer we have nothing up here. I sprayed constantly last year and left burn spots in some areas, literally sprayed and killed some and had new ones grow right through the old ones a couple weeks later. My grass is super thick and healthy but can’t choke out weeds and no other good option other than hiring a company with a chemical license.

@@ryanknorrlawncare I guess what I meant to express is that the plant identification and preventative maintenance stuff is really helpful. So thanks for this. And to be honest, I wouldn’t mind seeing you do some corn gluten meal testing for us Canadians or the organic folk. I can’t get it to work but it’s an interesting idea.

@@esond the reason I personally don't use the corn gluten is you need so much of it to coat the ground that you're also getting a huge app of nitrogen at a time in the spring when I don't what to push that kind of growth. So maybe some testing later at my new place but I really haven't seen much crabgrass pressure there in order to properly test it.

I was going to spot spray some clover and a few oxalis looking weeds. Just checked the weather. HEAT WAVE COMING! Forget that, looks like will be waiting til fall.

I know you took alot of crap from a Snake disguised as a Princess on your leveling tool but hopefully I have taken care of that. Check out seed world usa. I'm just north of Brampton and was able to get my order through the border a few weeks ago. Shipping is a little pricey as it comes from Florida but I say it is well worth it to get the stuff that actually works.

Tenacity+Quinclorac. One time kill of susceptible grassy weeds. Quinclorac reduces the whitening effect on desirable grasses.

Depends where you're at. I'm in GA and quinclorac will turn my Bermuda yellow for a time before it greens back up.

@@MrDionstarrr Tenacity + Quinclorac is great for treating cool season grasses. Not so much for Bermuda. Quinclorac is also not a good idea on hybrid Bermuda. It is tolerated to an extent, but lots of yellowing and stunting that takes at least 3 weeks to recover from.

@@rey3472 yeah I've noticed 😂 except I have torpedo grass creeping all in my Bermuda that I've been fighting. So I've been using quinclorac to take care of it. But not without beating up my Bermuda sadly. But knowing it'll come back keeps me not too worried.

@@MrDionstarrr Quinclorac would not be my first choice on Bermuda. Especially not the semi dwarf hybrids like Tifgrand or Tahoma 31.

Clover is easily controlled with 2,4-D. Mix it with the surfactant (MSO) and spray away.

In our area they stock Q4plus and it works quite well on grassy weeds including fox tails and crab grass! Love it.

My drive just came today from dymyown. Spraying this weekend , but because I have hybrid Bermuda, I’m going to spot spray . I’m hoping it doesn’t stress it too much

Book appears to be out of stock now with no restock date schedule. It appears that the PDF download is still available, but it's created in a way that it's not printable. That will make it difficult to compare the crabgrass in your lawn to the photos in the book. You'd have to bring your laptop or phone out to your yard to view the PDF and compare to the crabgrass - or dig up some of the crabgrass and bring it into the house.

Loved the tip to first spray with water over a 1,000 SF to make sure you are spraying at the right rate. Good stuff about the PPE, I would have worn a mask too.

I am in Dallas, TX. It's 100 degrees, and have a ton of crab grass in my lawn. How do I deal with it? It's a Bermuda lawn, brand new construction 4 month old

Don’t know if it is just me but your videos the last few months show gray screen for a few seconds but the audio goes uninterrupted. I don’t have this problem with anyone else’s videos. Thanks for the label screen shot. I have been looking for something else to kill St. Augustine grass but leave my cool season grasses alone. I’ve made it to June 9th this year in DFW with my mixture of perennial rye, fine fescue, TTTF and KBG. We set a record for 90 + degree days in May at 22 and no rain. I have some hope I’ll have some still alive by September. I eliminate 99% of the burmuda grass and St. Augustine last fall so this could be the first year of cool season grass only.

I bought tenacitys generic brand Meso 4sc. I just bought a house that has a yard full of weeds and bare spots. I want to overseed and use my sprinkler system to get some grass going but should i wait and apply meso 4sc first to kill the weeds?

Do u use same backpack sprayer for any/all applications? Like using same sprayer for herbicides/fungicides and Roundup glyphosate as well as stimulants ie. Kelp etc? Or do u use multiple sprayers so as not to contaminate

I know this isn't a great solution, but using a thatch rake (or even a metal rake) will pull up Bermud's stalons, letting you pull a lot of it. It does still have rhizomes, but at least it's better, if you're looking for containment.
