People like me like temptations for the sheer convenience; you can mix your recipe in it, bake in it, serve in it and store any leftovers in the fridge. All in one bowl/pan. It is bulky, I do not sell it, only have a pattern for myself, that I use frequently.

If I went into a Goodwill that had that much hard goods, I would think I had died and gone to heaven. Here in Charlotte NC area, about 10% of that much stuff in any store you go in. The smaller thrift stores are so much better than GW here, but still no where near that much stuff!

Our Goodwill in small town Missouri, even in St Louis, are pretty meh. Smaller thrift and consignment shops are so much better.

Oh! I think you should go back and get that copper sauté pan for yourself!! They are MARVELOUS cooking vessels and that price is CHEAP! It would look BEAUTIFUL hanging in your lovely vintage kitchen!! I would so love to have a copper pot of any kind!! They are the BEST!!

The fish bowl with painted fishes is made in China because it's a traditional Chinese design and item. The Chinese started breeding goldfish around 1,000 years ago and have developed many grotesque and beautiful varieties. These ceramic pots were made so that wealthy families could enjoy the beauty of the fish, and have small water gardens with aquatic plants or miniature water lilies growing as well.

For the life of me I can’t figure out why they use that shelving!!! They make a plastic sheeting that fits those so merchandise doesn’t fall between the openings… Get a clue goodwill. It just causes undue stress on the consumer and damage to the items. Rant over, lol.

My daughter and I went too goodwill early yesterday. It was packed. I still managed to fill my cart. I talk to so many meat people. It took forever to check out... And I felt kind of bad for the people behind me. But I found potential $50 bills all over that store!!! There was a guy in the stuffy aisle and he had a Mrs. Beasley in his cart. The memories!!! I just sold all of my temptations baking pieces to a neighbor for 50 bucks.

The lidded trinket box at 2.38 could be Norwegian. I find that farmer scene alot here in Denmark but it normally has a mark saying Norway on the bottom🤷‍♀️

Having worked in a thift store...."stuff" trickles in and gets put out all day. Hard to say if the "early bird always gets the worm". I have seen professional pickers come in three times a day to see what new items were put out. Depends on the hourly donations.

I think your right, it does not really matter what time of day your going to shop at Goodwill. I think most of their staff who stock the shelves must come in around noon and stock after lunch. However, I do agree that yard sales are different in the "early bird gets the worm". You scared me this time with the items falling on the shelves. Thank goodness you just left them and walked away! The fish was your best find to me. 😃

I come from a long line of family owned businesses.... including both wholesale and retailers. Altho my background is in Psych...I began selling on ebay shortly after it started....I'm 50+😉.....I just want to say...I have LOTS of respect for you and other's that encourage and help their friends and employees.....learn to help themselves with a "side hustle".....or building a full time income....it's AWESOME to see people in that light!👍🥰😇🙏

You did get a few nice things, I liked the leather jacket. The only difference I noticed about you getting there early was you seemed to not have a lot of luck with not knocking things over or almost knocking them over. Hahahaha, great stuff though.

I find every time I have gone to my goodwill after 4 pm they seem to always be putting out new items! I’ve always found some good stuff even though it’s later in the day! I find the time of day doesn’t matter!!

I am glad you went back to look at the pink sponge ware glasses. They are from Henn Workshops that was a Direct Sales company. My sister sold it and I still have tons of it! The cookware keeps thing real hot and the cold!

I would say 75% of the items in our goodwill is target clearance stuff. Rows and rows of the same shirt or dress. I wish they would separate the target stuff from other donations

I wish our Goodwill in State College was as neat as the ones you go to. So many of the shelves are just extremely cluttered. You have to really dig through to see what's there. The pricing, too, is funky. I can't believe some of the prices they put on things that are broken. Then, you'll pick up a vintage piece in good condition and it's $1.99. Though, that doesn't happen often. As always, Jocelyn, thanks for sharing.

Our goodwill doesn't start stocking until around 11 or 12 in the afternoon until about 3 or 4pm. So if I go in the morning, it's the same stuff that would be there from the night before or the evening before. So I try to go around 12ish.

I use Google Lense on the silver /silverplate...it often will decifer the hallmarks for me right there. Those chinese fishbowls gofor upwards $100 here in MN.

I was at a Estate Sale on October 22, 2022. Couple of days ago and there was a big box that I thought was Brass. Started checking out a few pieces and they also said “ Sterling Silver” on nearly every piece. But, I was so confused because they were all Gold/Brass. I’m so Happy that you found the same thing. I hope that one of us can figure out this mystery! I’m Still Confused 🤔

You should pick up that Masterpiece figurine because home interior has gone out of business and Masterpiece is always been very high quality even if it has a little chip it don't matter I've got several of them here in my house and I wouldn't trade them for all the tea in China they're worth a lot of money

I would have grabbed the mallard duck book ends if in good shape. Ducks do well for me, if husband dosent keep them.. I am excited monday is 50% off at bargain world. First quick test to see if something is silver plated or sterling is to smell it, if you smell a bit of chemical then most probably is silver plated because of the plating process. Silver or sterling silver has a faint sweet smell. It has worked for me.😉

About testing metal: you rub the piece you want to test on a testing stone to deposit a streak of metal, then use the acids on the streak of metal on the stone to determine content of gold or silver or platinum - or if it's not any of those things. You don't drop acid directly on the object.

That giant "fish bowl" really is to hold fish. Koi fish actually, which is a hint as to who makes them. They're the oriental answer our goldfish bowls. They're made to view from above which is why the inside is decorated.
