Played my first duos yesterday, sword n board (as one does) and my teammate was like "you're making that shield work look easy." and in my head I was like, thanks, I take classes for it.
I've seen a few of your videos and realized that shield fighter is more my style. It's been alot of fun in PvE and I've started winning some PVP as well. thanks for introducing me to shield fighting!
Wow, I managed to run into you just not too long ago! It really was cool to fight you, and it was really interesting being on the enemy end of you rather than just watching your pov. Love the vids and hopefully we can fight again
You are certainly the best shield fighter I've ever seen in this game, and definitely one of the best fighters in general. Extremely educational in your approach and you inspire me in your ability to keep your cool.

Hey blinn just an update, I'm doing really well right now after switching back to flanged mace and heater, buckler arming wasn't working for me but honestly I'm happy I switched back it's given me a lot of success, I've got 14k gold 4 stashes plus my shared and my character is level 83 now, thanks for helping me on this grind, its let me appreciate the balanced skill focus of fighter

I've never played shield fighter before, it's definitely not the meta, but your videos are so well done and you make it look so enjoyable that I've got to go give it a try.
Thanks for the inspiration. I've never run this playstyle. I've always treated the shield more as a way to get PDR or as a secondary but Ive tested this and have really been enjoying it! Thanks. Ps I caught a ranger with the "ranger trap" trick from one of your other videos. : )
@@YourBoyBlinn you keep shield high to block face while jump crouching and it makes legs much harder target than just blocking high and running at enemy

Also for the door thing in the first fight, your collision hitbox is based in the head and then mapped to the body, so your considered on the other side of the door if you peek your brain through right when it’s closing. Does give them a headshot if their quick with it and attentive and if your really unlucky you’ll get stuck directly in the middle of both sides of the door hit box (most collidable objects just “exist” at the very visible edge) so if you end up between by some chance it just floats you inside it till it opens and forces you out
Really great video learnt a lot from it. but im still struggling with block and attack at the right time. maybe i can play 1 or 2 games with you so you can take a look and coach me live ? also the commentary help a lot to understand your way of thinking. keep it up.
Another great video! I love your deep explantation as it’s vital to get those fine details of the battle. I do have a question, sometimes when I get a successful full block versus a bear or even double axe/bardiche my next swing is regular and not 50% faster with the shield mastery perk. Any idea why that happens? Thanks!

Hey Blinn! Like your stuff, when are you going to use the lantern shield? I feel like there's plenty of room for skill expression and I play with it. So that advice would definitely get used.

If you stand somewhat far back in the room you're leaving as you close the door, you can prevent the person from chasing you through a door 100% of the time.
3:55 in the higher end part of the game most people don't use heater cause it's too slow and good player will alter theirweapons path and dance around the heater Instead they use buckler for its stats and maneuvering. U barely see heater in hr unless it's trios spacing is alot more effective. Imo
@YourBoyBlinn sorry didnt mean it to come across rude I have just tried it alot and even if u r a pro blocker the ms hit and bulkiness is too much. especially when everyone is 310 ms plus. Arena tho is a diffrent story. The sword and board has potential to do really well because the fights r isolated and u have a good chance at blocking all the bow shots. Did u try arena ? Ull need a long bow but I bet u would really like the fights. I learned more platin arena then I did in 1500 hrs
@@Btk780 now worries BTK, I take no offense, you are totally right about the competitive headwinds of a bulky, slow shield :) I've been living it haha.. arena seems fun (tried a few rounds) got lots of minted items too. good luck out there!
He likes the speed that the flanged mace comes out with especially with counter attack it's extremely fast swinging. Also the flanged is a very consistent 3 swing combo while the morningstar has a more weirdly paced one. He also said he didn't like that the morning star is a diagonal attack.
I always feel naked without Sprint, since move speed is SO important in solo gameplay.. so my reco is to keep Sprint if you are trying to be competitive with PvP in solos!

Yeah door closing mechanics piss me off. It seems like I can never get through the door when someone else is closing it, but when I'm closing it my opponent gets through every time. Annoying and dumb.
It's about using your body positioning to block your opponent. You literally body block them out of the area they need to be in to make it through the door. It can be risky when you are learning though, because you could lock yourself in.
