Yes - in a moral world. The reality, however, is morals tend to be lacking amongst those with significant power, even more so than amongst those without much power in life. It may not be right, but power can easily bring out the worst in people - they suddenly have the opportunity to do things (and get away with things), that they couldn't before. To make matters worse, those who end up with this kind of power, are also frequently flexible with their morals anyway (when they have any morals at all, in the first place) - prior to achieving great power. Research has demonstrated that psychopaths are found more frequently amongst Chief Executives, than the prison population. To reach the top in a competitive world, it is unfortunately an advantage to be comfortable screwing everyone and anyone other, exploiting people, etc. I'm certainly not saying everyone in power is a psychopath - and some do retain healthy morals. But negative character traits/lack of morals ARE more common amongst the powerful. So it's good (and very necessary) that she's standing up to him - and trying to set boundaries (with some real energy and determination required, to do so). This scene is a very clear and explicit example (he doesn't hide it at all, in what he says, of him trying to utilise his massive power to force what he wants on her, in terms of their relationship. He also says a few things that cross the line from explicit abuse of his presidential power, to more general relationship abuse (telling her they will never be finished, as he doesn't want it - even when she's saying they are, trampling her normal boundaries to force her to see him, etc.).
He has tried to leave his wife since Olivia came back in his life but she has pretty much sent him back to his wife. He is willing to give up his presidency and wife for Olivia but she wants him to finish out his presidency and then when it's over they can be together.
Best thing about this show is the perspective from the mistress. It's amazing how many women side with her & want her to take someone's husband. That's some great writing. So when it happens in real life, don't hate the mistress ladies. It could be an Olivia/Fitz situation & you're just in the way.
@JECZ23, I think that society is generally against adultery but you're also correct in saying that there could be several Livvie and Fitz out there and ppl shouldn't hate the Mistresses, ach situation is different. Some of us wives turn our husbands away constantly and so they go out looking for love. Then, there are some husbands, it doesn't matter how much love their wives gave them, they will go looking at other women. That's just how it is.
She wasn’t taking anyone from Millie. They were never each other’s that was an arranged marriage where they both were there to gain something. Millie needed to be freed and so did Fitz.
"What do you want??" "You." "Goodbye Mr President." "OH COME ON!" "YOUU DO NOT SUMMON ME!" "YOUUUU DO NOT WALK AWAY FROM MEE!!" Idk why I burst out laughing
They are evenly matched it's crazy! You would think Fitz and Olivia were the married couple. Even in their fights you see the love the passion they have for one another
yeah he told her to wait for him to divorce his wife after he was shot and not marry her ex but then he turns around and says don't wait for him that marrying her would be political suicide so he called their relationship off because he found out about defiance that she was one of the people that rigged the election but he felt the most betrayed by her. Now he trying to win her back cause after all that he still in love with her.
I FELT EVERY LETTER OF THAT WORD "EARN" I love this scene. I come back to replay it every now and then. Then fall in love with their on and off again relationship. It's toxic, but good for them at the same time. Which a rare kind of love, but exilirating, and tiring all wrapped into one. Some people wish for such a consuming love and attraction sometimes.
Actually when they are good he can focus and get things done lol If it was always about politics would you watch the show? It would be boring. They have to show that even these people are human and make mistakes behind the curtain of power.
@@faithwatkins7811 Mine? My what? Emotional avatar? Fantasy? Tchaditch? Fluffer? Earth Angel? Punching bag? What? Make up your mind Fitz before she goes to the Jake side forever more…
She is strong, independent, intelligent, brave, courageous, and beautiful. A true 1st lady/consort. I wish I was like her EXCEPT w this unhealthy relationship (even tho I ship them)
You don't want to be like Olivia Pope. All of what you see on the outside is a facade. Inside she is a damaged girl with abandonment issues. She's in love with a man who equally loves her and willing to give up everything for her but she's scared and was raised that love is a weakness so she walks away because that's what was done to her by her parents. Olivia is damaged goods just dressed up nicely. The fixer and who saves everybody needs saving
This was the sexiest seen ever to me...they were virtually making love the entire time...especially for Fitz...she was fiesty like this when he first met her!! He been IN ever since!
These two give me heart palpitations! Olivia, girl.... enough! You are "done" damn near every episode 🤣😂. Have that man's babies, grow old together & stop the shenanigans.
It's strange because he's married and the president but they are in love with each other but can't be together publicly. Just the frustration of that. He can't have her and be president but hes willing to give up his presidency for her plenty of times and his wife but she stops him every time out of fear.
He's not being selfish he's letting her know that he is choosing once again to be with her and if that means not being president so be it. Olivia is always feeling guilty about her decision of defiance so she wants him to continue his presidency and finish it out and then they can be together but he don't want to wait and just string her along as his mistress. He wants to make her his wife and go off into the sunset together in vermont
@@asiajackson1550 no it wasn't his wife planned to leave him or least manipulate the situation and threatened to go on national television to tell the world about her husband being unfaithful . He didn't stop her, he did not flinch. What he do he called his mistress and begged her to come back to him then went to her house and earned her. If it was just about sex he wasn't gonna just give up his presidency for her. He told her he loves her more than him being president. He told Cyrus that he is in love with a woman that isn't his wife and if he needed to step down as president to be with her in public then so be it. This is a man in love that hasn't been in love or felt this way not even with his own wife before and he don't wanna lose her. Besides he's just sexy by nature without even trying to be so it comes off as a little pushy and demanding lol
Faith Watkins I understand that. I feel like he does love her but in this instance it was lust and he Was sort of being selfish. By sayin he would come to her if she didn’t Come to him, that’s controlling in a way. He almost felt like if he was in her vicinity she wouldn’t be able to resist him and he would end up gettin what he wanted. She really shouldn’t have had to tell him “earn me”. BUT to Fitz defense he has never experienced real love before like you said. It’s clear these two love each other. They both had toxic traits/flaws about each other
@@asiajackson1550 this is all after he visited her in the hospital. Remember prior he told Olivia at Verna Thornton funeral to not wait for him because he found out about her involvement in defiance. He was upset they broke up and he told her at Cyrus daughter's christening after having sex with her in the closet that just because he can't control his erections around her doesn't mean he wants her he was wrong and trying to win her back.
Fitz and Olivia have my heart. They are the greatest love story to ever exist. The way they do anything is the best. This scene is hilarious and beautiful
An Alpha Male through and through, some men can be relentless when they want...can be overwhelming and sexy at the same time especially when the attraction is mutual but for some good reasons you are holding back.
"Your beckon call Like you're the only One who's important Sitting down is not Happening so what Do you want?? You Goodbye Mr. President Oh come on You do not Summoned me.."
