Thank you. I've been searching for information on this for years. I've loved it since I was a child.

This trumpet tune was featured on the OHS / Organ Media Foundation had thus as a framing piece leading into the video on the second organ (the Kimball) at Atlantic City. Thus hymn itself, was sung to close the OHS concentration back in 2013 Played in a Wurlitzer and using the first six of the originally composed LBW stanzas

Robert, this hymn was originally composed with 7 verses. Most hymnal include verses 1 through 6 of thr originally composed 7 stanza text. The verse Children of God, Dying and Rising is rarely sung.

The "Sing to the Lord a New Song" and "He has done Marvelous Things" lines are not only Refrain/Middle Refrain- but also we have melismatic tropes here. In the LBW as well as in other earlier LCA and LCNS hymn books; this hymn has seven canonical stanzas.

I meant LCMS. This is a new phone and some key strokes did not go when they were intt nred here.

My GF owns a 7-107 rank Schlicker and plays this hymn in the earlier LBW version and also does a lot of text painting as you mention here with the later ELW version (which is largely the same tune as the LBW hymn without the stanza "Flowers and Trees" and the Children of God dying and Rising.. She for example uses Contra Bombarde 32 in the Pedal Division for the Engines and Steel, snare strum on midi for the Loud Pounding Hammers. Her organ also has Grand Ophicleide and Ophicleide and she uses those stops for the Limestone and Beams, Loud Building workers, for Loud Boiling Test Tubs, obviously a good Contra Bourbon 32 and some Clarion Enchamade action for the Athlete and Band loud Cheering people line. For the Opening Verse " Loud Rushing Planets gets some tremulant action with glockenspiel and zimbelstern. Oh Victory, Loud Shouting Army (which ELW removed for some reason in the version you singing) she uses a combination of brass stops. For the Children of God verse (also not included in ELW, but in the LSB version of the hymn (LCMS) the full original canonized seven verse text is sung) she uses some rohrflote and waldflote action arising to full organ on the final line, Heaven and Earth, Hosts everlasting. For Flowers and Trees, Loud Rustling Dry Leaves, perhaps some Hautbois (also referenced to as "OH BOYt" and some Contra Wood Diaphone. She also uses the key elevations, starting out in the key of A Flat, then elevating to B Major for Hail Wind and Rain, B To D for Trumpet and Pipes,, D to F for Limestone and Beams, F to A for Classrooms and Labs, A to C for Knowledge and Truth, and finally on Verse 7 to from C to E major for Children of God, Dying and Rising. This she says brings out the themes of each verse. She uses piston registration 15 for this hymn with Tutti and the manual couplers on the last verse.

Of course; LCMS refers to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (whose new hymn book is the Lutheran Service Book or LSB which has the original Earth and All Stars in its unnameded canonical 7-stanza version as composed by Herb Brokering as published in LBW Hymn 558. I do not know which page in LSB this hymn correlates to.

The original LBW 558 version has the Flowers and Trees stanza (from which the Hail Wind and Rain line was drawn to complete verse 1 in the later ELW 731 variant) and verse 1 in some earlier arrangements including that of the LBW have the Oh Victory, Loud Shouting Army line in that closing phrase.

Some hymnals also have a 7th stanza that starts with CHILDREN OF GOD, DYING AND RISING. Robert, what key is ELW 731 in relative to the earlier LBW variation (LBW 558)

I learmed th8s hymn out pf a piano lesson book in B Flat (can't remember the title of that book, and who stepped down (or up) David N. johnson's tune. In the beginner version of the hymn, (and some Children's. Hymn books have altered or remixed arrangements of the original congregnal pew version. I believe B Flat is up a minor third from A Flat amd is a bit easier for a Junior Choir to sing (as there are fewer black notes).

Have you ever visited N Street Village (AKA NATIONAL LUTHERAN CHURCH) .... HOME OF THE 4-84 Mollee.

Robert; that organ looks familiar to me. I may have been there in that sanctuary. Are you at the N Street Village (14fb & N) in Washington, DC? That console looks like it is a 4 manual console with 84 ranks
