its actually not dumb at all. Try playing higher difficulty and you will find the level of cooperative play required for your survival is insane - call of duty has like what, a few dozen weapons to master? this has hundreds of VASTLY different weapons with incredibly varied play styles, reload mechanics, mobility options, its quite astounding just how far ahead of basically all shooters this game is, i cant actually think of anything that comes even close.
Yes. One thing I loved with EDF 2017 was finding out with my coop friend how we could beat a level, regarding strategy and weapon choice. There’s a reason the game kept saying: “Think long and hard which weapons you take into battle.”
EDF is great! 4.1 for PC was phenomenal.. I just wish it launch on PC the same date ... Note:If this game was visually appealing.. frames would drop hardcore with the amount of enemies and destruction on the map. This game was not design for graphical appeal.. it was design for fun and carnage with millions of weapon option to kill monsters with
the funny thing is when the frogs come out, the soldiers are all THEY ARE HUMANOID, THEY LOOK JUST LIKE US. but when the actual aliens in armor come out they are like THESE ARENT HUMANOIDS AAAAHHHHHHH
Earth Defense Forces 5 looks incredible with all the details Sandlot added to this new game! I love how the enemies now can have chunks of their inner fleshed exposed and they explode into tiny pieces. The other games mostly had them fly away in large rubber suit like fashion or in big body chunks of just again, rubber suit like. Sandlot really packed a ton of detail into this new installment! It looks amazing! I'm truly excited to purchase it with my Christmas money soon! "EDF!"
We love the EDF franchise, it's so nice to have a split screen game. It's just so much fun. I thought I was going to die when they called the wasps 'bird like creatures'
I'm sure if you told any of the devs that EDF is a dumb game in general they would smirk up and give a really nasty sounding "Mwhue hue hue" kind of laugh at you. And the proceed to swing their arms around and start singing the EDF song.
I've been playing EDF since the PS2 launch in 2005 and I'm still enjoying EDF today and it still hasn't changed, which proves pure over the top gameplay will ALWAYS be fun no matter how the graphics fare.

@@IslandBoy-808 EDF5 had nice improvements over 4.1. Every class play smoother, cool new enemies. For those who understand what EDF is about will be mostly pleased with EDF 5.
New maps, new enemies, new weapons, weather effects including a sandstorm, armor and weapons collected get distributed to all classes but favor the one you currently are, failing a mission still gives you a % of what you collected, weapons you collect again are now used to upgrade the weapon, Wing Diver now has a dash and her weapons are charged and then unleashed, she gets cores that augment how big her energy meter is as well as how much energy flight or dash or weapon charging uses, recharge rate, etc, Fencer gets similar cores for dashing and jumping, Ranger can now sprint and has a pickup radius during, Ranger can now summon select vehicles including helicopters, tanks, laser motorcycles, etc, Ranger gets support equipment that can affect walk speed, reduce enemy attack slowdown, always on or bigger pickup radius, how well you heal troops under your command, etc., also the bugs physically are visibly changed by fire vs gun shots which looks amazing. I'm satisfied so far.
EDF 2017 is on Vita too and I highly recommend it. It´s an xbox 360 port and runs smoothly (at least on my Vita), they added Wing Diver (unlocked after finishing it as a Ranger) and it´s greatly superior in quality than EDF: invaders from outer space, which was PS2 game and you battle alone, the maps are empty. In EDF 2017 you got other EDF soldiers + more enemies + escaping pedestrians, it´s just a generation ahead.
Why hate my Xbox Sony gets so many games diversity and funny this game is getting real good reviews but Xbox greed they think mp is only way it’s sad when so many biggest profits in games were from solo games

I just wish it was on a different engine with better graphics,rpg elements, and a more detailed story. I put this game in the same family as the Just Cause franchise, good dumb fun!
