EDF games have to be hard to critically review, since, the games arent meant to be drop dead amazing. But when you're facing down 50+ bugs at once with high powered weapons, you tend not to care about the shortcomings
''Each of the characters were fleshed out enough to feel invested in them''. I must be playing a different game then because the game i'm playing never gives you any reason to care about the characters or story.
The cash deduction for items sounds like a genuinely bad idea. Everything else is solid in concept for sure, execution notwithstanding, but that aspect just sounds counterproductive.
Unknown Common Man Unlike other EDF games you don’t pick up crates during missions to unlock weapons. In Iron Rain you unlock a set of new weapons items and outfit pieces as you complete a mission though you still need to buy them after they unlock. It’s basically recipes. Also there are hidden collectibles in mission maps where if you find them all you earn a secret item. I haven’t found them all yet to say if it’s a weapon or clothing item but I like Easter eggs.
hey im thinking about getting this game on ps4. ive always loved edf, especially 2017 but im not sure if i should get IR. do you think it’s worth the price?
EDF 5. This is just another crappy Western version of EDF.. They didn't learn from Insect Armageddon nor from the mainline titles. They just pumped it out without trying to learn what made EDF good.
Giving this a 7 is too generous.. At best it's a 4 when it's using the EDF brand. It's just a Western version of EDF, out of touch, doesn't know what made the EDF brand good. Tries to appeal to everyone, even though the end result will end up as poorly like the previous crappy Western version Insect Armageddon.
Can tell you're not part of its usual crowd, I'd recommended picking up one of the previous ones and trying it out for yourself. Videos never do the series justice as it's just so fun to play but not watch
