summary of the event:
the Eagle Scouts of Iriga city launched the first "candle lit tree planting" in the world for earth hour 2011.
the earth hour 2011 theme is earth hour and beyond, so the group decided to launch the unique project "switch OFF! plant ON".
we had our assembly place at iriga city grandstand at around 7-7:20pm and campaign/walk around the city proper with the use of our flaglets,padyak on board with trees to be planted,and encouraged various establishments to switch off their signages..
we assembled then at the foot of mt. Asog at around 8:15 and had our briefing with the participants. We night trek hike and reach the site at around 8:40 pm and gloriously started the first candle lit tree planting in the world for Earth Hour. We planted 60 narra seedlings and the event was participated by around 40 representatives from
Eagle Scouts,
USANT and Zefferino arroyo HS BSP,
Anthonian scouts alumni,
Alliance os Sumagang Outdoor group-ASOG,
agik-ik scout mountaineers,
kabalikat civicom rinconada
and mt. Asog DeMolay.
we also had participants from interested locals.
May our campaigns/trees planted for an hour lasts for decades and beyond.
We extend our deep gratitude to those who participated even thou it was raining hard the whole day(it stopped minutes before we started the activity and resumed after-thanks God.)Indeed, if we are one with nature, we are one with God. :)
