absolutely lovely sopranos. usually in this song the sopranos ALWAYS overpower (bc sopranos are sopranos, we all know this) but YOU GUYS. wow. just gorgeous. your balance is fantastic.
Sing, Be, Live, See This dark stormy hour The wind, it stirs The scorched Earth cries out in vain Oh war and power, you blind and blur The torn heart cries out in pain But music and singing have been my refuge And music and singing shall be my light A light of song, shining strong Hallelujah, Hallelujah Through darkness and pain and strife I'll sing, I'll be, live, see Peace
When my choir sang this song in high school, we were all so excited to perform it at our concert (because it's one of the most amazing songs we had ever done). But toward the beginning of the performance, our conductor's pants fell down and the audience laughed through the rest of the piece, and none of them remember the actual song at all. :(
I’m pretty sure it was amazing. Not the conductors pants, the song. I sang the same song at a school concert. I was in the soprano section (highest part) and I was bullied for it because apparently I was the lowest natural-voiced girl :-( but I still magaged to prove all them wrong when I did my solo performance... anyways, I wish I saw it. Love this song
I got to sing this my senior year. It is a truly unforgettable piece of music. My choir sang it with such mastery and grace that at our last performance of this song my director cried and we all did too. This song stands for all the things that music is.
omg this song. At the senior year of my high school years my varsity choir class sang all of our favorite songs during the year. This was also the last year my teacher was going to me teaching (so that he could pursue his doctorate), so right before we sang this song he said: "class, follow me" and took us to the stairway of our school. We all sang our hearts out, the stairway resonating our voices, and some tears shed. Right after the song we chanted our choir chant one last time. "Who's house? SMALL'S HOUSE!!" (Darren Smalls, if you somehow come across this, I thank you for being such a great teacher) ~Justin O.
For any moon valley kid in Phoenix, this was the most beautiful song and one of our last songs before quarantine. My favorite song to sing. This holds so many memories
we’re doing this this year in choir, it really hits different during corona. it’s unfortunate we can’t all sing together, but i think the message is made that more powerful due to the circumstances
My high school music program is having our choir and our Symphonic Wind Symphony (the highest level of band) play this together and it is one of my favorite pieces ever.
this is one of the last “powerful” pieces my choir director did before she passed a 13 year battle with lung cancer when we did all state with other kids and a different director no one could understand why we were all in tears, she was so sick and lost that battle only 5 years later RIP “mom” 💜
So i have a... complicated relation with this song. I absolutely long it, but in a choir once, we were going to sing it. We had SATB, so easy... we sing this SATB version, but nope. They changed it to a SSAA song and had us sing in falsetto. I have vivid memories of just having days where i couldn't sing it at all, including the concert. Still love the song, but it brings back those memories...
Hi can I repost this on instagram? I'll download it then post the video with the credits from you and the songwriter (which I believe is on the song title's itself). The title and the choir and the calm tune themeselves reminds me of what happen todays about Corona. Maybe it will help. Tell me if you would like to decline my answer on reply. With best regard, the song is serene and peace, giving a tranquil hearts to ones worriness.
