I remember seeing this earth wind and fire concert with Sonny Emory at the Providence Civic center in 1988 . He was doing this drum solo to let's groove. I was 16 when I went to this concert.
I’ve followed him for 15 or 20 years but he just put out a new Yamaha video on RU-vid and it’s definitely some of the best drumming as far as technique on planet earth right now. Why was Fred not in the band at this point?
You know Earth Wind and Fire are going to have the best of everything.. I’ve never heard of this guy .. I remember some of the original musicians but as the years progressed they have added some new musicians .. But it this young man is can hold his own. LB August 2022

I've been catching a lot of drum solos from pure jazz from 40s to present day, and now this. I'll take a drum solo by a great rock/fusion band over a pure jazz combo, any day. I don't want to stay on my feet and keep dancing to a Buddy Rich solo. Let me put it that way. But the rock drummers keep you wrapped up in the beat a lot better. They take you somewhere and then bring you back. The jazz guys, it's usually a lot more dry, boring and confusing. "Gee, you're fast. *yawn*"
This guy may be good at playing drums. But he sounds a little bit monotone. Prefer from far Maurice White (rip) or Ralph Johnson on drums. EW&F's BEST drummer.
You have to learn more about music. “Monotone is not a term that can be used to refer to drumming. Mono - means one. Tone - refers to pitch and frequency. The only way you can be “monotone” as a drummer is if you only hit one single drum the entire time. That’s not what he does/did.
. @@atlnla4112 . Sorry, I feel monotony hearing this drummer, coldness is much more my feeling. I don't talk about the quality or the capacity of the drummer. For sure, he is good at playing.Undeniably, I don't know anything about music. But, it's not really a problem. I feel the music. In fact it suits me, I don't want learned feeling, or have to learn drumming to feel the music. This will be the end of poetry. Sorry, a drummer or a musicien by and large can sounds monotone, let alone your naïve explanation. But, I can talk with you about drumming if you want. Enough feeling coming with the listening of different drummers less monotone for sure.
A hater is monotonous that’s for sure. The same trollin BullCrap producing nothing of value themselves. It never fails . They can’t resist the urge to say something stupid against a show of excellence.
