Kids listen !!! Each of these extremely talented member can switch roles in a millisecond. Maurice can play bass , drums and sax just as good. That’s how non-human they were!!!!!!!stuff legends are made of. I’ll check back in 20 years and this band would still be relevant
I saw this same concert in the Superdome in New Orleans. I was front row center. I had the best seat, or spot in the place. I remember the songs sounded exactly like the album versions. The best concert of my life!
This is EW&F !! From 77 to 81 the pinnacle of the greatest R&B group of all time and the R&B version of the Beatles. Maurice was Paul and John rolled into one! Boy do i miss him!
All of who us were the band on the yard at any HBCU in the 70’s (doesn’t matter which yard), played plenty of EWF!!! Our favorites were “In the Stone” and “Star”. #UAPB 1977-1981.
I saw this show (and MANY OTHERS) with this lineup.Reese, Philip, Verdine, Larry, Johnny, Fred, Ralph, Andrew and Al, not to mention Mr Don Myreck and the rest of the Phoenix horns! Best band in the entire WORLD (during their heyday)and it's not even CLOSE! And did you hear Verdine's mentor and teacher (trombone player), Mr Louis Shatterfield thumping that bass during Verdine's solo!
Years ago i didnt know marice had passed. They did a tribute on bet when we had cable. R. I. P. Marice. You was a good singer and Performer. All yall was. This is very good singing its beautiful the words are beautiful. You guys are awesome. I was srill in high school when we had yall alblum. Love reasons beautiful love song. ahh... the good ol' days... Maurice, the classic line-up, the music of All 'n All, Verdine on his white Jazz Bass, Doug Henning's magic, no in-ear monitors... the good ol' days... ☮️💟🌍
Phenomenal!! I was at this show in Toronto, my first time seeing Earth Wind and Fire, BLOWN AWAY, the most spectacular stage show, in my top 10 concerts of all time and I have seen a lot!
I'm saying this for the sake of, why mention drugs in the first instance, did you know these guys on a personal level, drugs or not the MUSIC WAS IS BRILLIANT
@@geminirhythmspirit2573 They admitted during a candid interview several years ago. The oldest brother, Bobby, died from a heroin overdose in the 1990’s. Not talking about a drug problem doesn’t make it go away.
Watching and considering my visual state of mind The flower’s fragrance helped reveal to me a sign A sign of love, I had confessed to live and really know A sign of love which I had failed my fellowman to show Keep your eye on Jupiter, such beauty in the sky We will wait for your return in the by and by Keep your eye on Jupiter, memories we shall fulfill Just to view a brighter day, and do a righteous will
I saw this concert in person and it was amazing coming down in those tubes and Earth 🌎 Wind and Fire 🔥 showed out could not sit down in your seat RIP Maurice White
Yes he is! He’s such a huge part of EWF sound, because even if MW is singing lead, PB is doing the backing vocals. I love PB’s backing vocals of the Chorus refrain for “You.” Absolutely transcendent!
@@oRuTRa45 Ditto. I actually like “You” more than AtLiG, but the record company wanted to push this more than “You” for radio promotion and airplay. PB’s soaring vocals are so lovely 😊!
Earth, Wind & Fire is the absolute undisputed best band of all time, in my opinion, and just knowing that Maurice White is no longer with us makes me very sad. #EWFFANFOREVER #IHEARTEWF #LOVEMAURICEWHITE
L Seymour I agree 100% and I love a lot of old school bands like Ohio Players, Kool & the Gang, Parliament Funkadelic, Kc & Sunshine Band, The Commodores, Confunkshun, Cameo, Bar Kays, Midnight Star, Brass Construction, The Blackbyrds, Heatwave, The Whispers, Lakeside, Sos Band, Brother's Johnson, Brick, Zapp, and others. I was fortunate enough to make friends with Maurice White in 2010 at MYSPACE while I was in the Army Wounded Warrior. Hard for me to see EWF without Maurice even though they sound good but not at the level of the original band which is IRREPLACEABLE!
greatest tour EVER...saw it at Madison Square Garden in NY... when the pyramid exploded i thought something had messed up real bad, and was about to run...then when the Aliens took their helmets off, and they were EW&F, i was blown away forever😎
Dam. Verdine was possessed on that bass. I've never heard get away played that way before. I love the up tempo energy . Verdine should be arrested for, banging that bass like that. Lol.
Memories! I saw them in Indianapolis, I think on this tour. The truck with their sound system slid off the road in a blizzard and they had to rent a system at the last minute. One by one all the speakers blew out until it sounded like an A.M. radio. They still gave 100%
This was the All n All tour. I saw this performance at the LA forum. One of the most spectacular things I've ever seen. I will never forget that night. The opening to the beginning. An experience
MoondogMayne So did I! I never saw so many cameras flash upon an entry before. When they were coming down, I was looking at them and at the cameras. I saw them on their last night at this concert in Oakland.
Verdine White is the true on bass guitar. How he can be so animated and play flawless bass lines is humbling. Just amazing the whole group of musicians.
Verdine White is a great bass player. Anyway.. at @4:10 there must be other bass player than him in the band, no? The bass sound is sliding up but his hand in the video is not. Of course, except, if the video has been edited to be not really simultaneous with the audio, which seem is not... Anyway, like I say, Verdine White is a truly great bass player
The baddest band that ever graced radio, the stage, television, our hearts...and l am eternally greatful for the opportunity to be in the moment the era, the mindset to enjoy it, with no distractions from music like today when they hit the scene...love this band forever and always!
That's my favorite era. When both Ralph and Freddie were on drums. Freddie could hold down that rock steady big foot groove while Ralph could do the slick stuff.
I saw them at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, January 3, 1978, I was 11 years old..My best friends brother took us. Ill never forget when verdine levitated, we went crazy!
Absolutamente la mejor banda de todos los tiempos, están en su mejor tiempo ...... Una locura....!!!! Todos con una energía increíble.... Ojala tengan más registros de este recital.....!!!!! Gracias por subirlo........................
Maurice on Timbales, Philip making those skins sing, Verdine,Al and Johnny high kickin'...the horns...Lord have mercy. Why would anyone dare eliminate band from a curriculum....... I'll wait.
The mighty mighty Earth Wind And Fire so so bad as I said in another post I was there at that show 37 years ago. The magic of this band you just can,t understand unless you have been blessed to have seen them live in concert, play on Earth Wind and Fire play on.
Johnny was a great utility man, there's another video of EWF where Johnny is playing trumpet. On this one he puts his guitar down and goes to play percussion!
and how does he play those amazing basslines while bouncing, and bobbing and weaving and stomping and kicking and levitating???...he definitely is the greatest LIVE bass player EVER..
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏I’m neither black nor white but their music inspired me so much. Their music is a soundtrack to my life And I was born in 1986-- my parents were the best. We listened to EWF Chaka Anita George Benson Pattie Aretha Whitney etc
RIP MAURICE WHITE 💔💔💔 🎺🎺🎷🎷🎷🎸🎸🥁🥁🎶🎶 RIP MAWRICE WHITE 💔
Caught them live in 1979 at The Spectrum in Philadelphia at the height of their fame! Got a chance to meet Maurice White backstage after the show. What a fantastic show and humbling experience. The best in Black music. Band/EW&F, Group/Temptations. Case Closed, End Of Story! 🎶🎤🎸
Verdine @ 12.30 - I had forgotten just how manic he used to get on stage - must have a third kidney or something. Can you imagine keeping this up every night on tour? Still the boys sure did know how to put on a show.
This is what I play in my house. Just so my sons will know what music is. I'm just not feeling the so called talent that's being played on the radio today. It feels fake...A lot of wanna be's on the Radio
I showed my son EW&F videos on youtube so he would know what real music is. I am a 56 year old white man and my son is 11 and my only child...... It was important to me that he knows that the beauty of spirituality knows no color......
I tried like heck to do the same for my son when he was younger (at the time of this comment). I didn't think that he was listening until he came home from his freshman year of college and brought up my up a stack up my Lps from the basement and started playing Spirit! Brought tears to my eyes.
I just had to get some EW&F this morning. I remember them back in the day. Glad to see they're still at it today. All their music was soulful and downright funky. I hope the sound guys were fired after this show. Too much cocaine maybe.
Hey daddysmooth, I don’t know how to explain how much I appreciate you posting my all time favorites the Elements performing 1978 with the original cast. Well not actually the original original but these are the cat’s when they were at pinnacle between ‘74 through 90. The thing about is I’m still attending their concerts annually and here it is 2022. That just goes to you the group is still sustaining excellence. Is there a part 2 since this is title part 1? Thanks,
Somebody tell me what speed is Verdine playing at? Even I can't do that i can twice as fast than everyone and stay at regular time but he seem at 10x 10 faster like he's on another planet!
VERDINE WHITE Is playing at the Speed of Spiritual Funk.Thats the part of The Music We Dance To.Even after seeing EW&F Live in Concert several times My question has always been and still is,How in the World do VERDINE Run up and down the stage Playing a Bass Guitar and never miss a Beat as Well as Background Vocals.Do not try that at Home You could actually hurt Your Hands if not Guided by The SPIRIT.Love&Peace
What a great show! Verdine is one of my all time favorite bass players! So much energy and you can tell he is giving his all on every song. Awesome. Hey, during his killer bass solo, at one point you can hear the bass being played but he's not playing anything. 13:19 on the video. Does anyone know what's going here?
At points like this in the shows, many times Louis Satterfield who played with the Phenix horns and actually taught Verdine bass would take over on bass. I saw this and several EWF tours
This is the freaking concert I saw at the Garden - when they came down outta the sky in the tubes…oh my God. I’ve been to hundreds and hundreds of concerts as a New York City chick but this one here is definitely top two.❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️
I can tell ya right now, music will never be this good again...but I will always wonder why when millions of people want it...cause all I hear is a lot of crap being played today...I nned to find the doctor and barrow his tardis to go back in time...
It’s funny that you mention the Doctor and his Tardis, because the opening sequence took me back to that era’s version of the tv show (4th doctor). I was a very little kid - EWF and sci fi were all the rage in my household
