You're the only person I've ever heard that plays the 0:07 lick when they cover this! That lick super quiet in the original, but it's super cool how it passes between the instruments. You did a great job covering this song!❤
I'm a small Asian woman and the bass always fascinated me, but I never saw anyone like me playing it before. Now I feel more inspired to try it after seeing you play it with such joy and skill
Absolutely try it! If you're worried about playing with small hands, short-scale basses are a thing. Same tone, much easier to stretch your hands across. Would recommend trying out basses in a shop just to see what feels good in your hand
be sure to try it out somewhere with a proper amp speaker. Like at a guitar store or at a practice studio or something. Bass really shines with a proper speaker. It's addicting power.
Oh my god your little ghost notes and embellishments and flourishes sound INCREDIBLE Not to mention that I'm in love with that bass tone, it's so big and clear
@@earlbee3196 ghost notes are when you play a note without it being clear,, often muted or quietly, as you're keeping time while playing, though they can be used for percussive effect
I couldn't help but smile from start to finish. Your joy playing bass is so contagious. Btw I'm 57 and happy to see a youngster like yourself keeping older music alive.
@@dbohnenberger in the original recording, the bass line is like that. probably a mistake during the recording but the majority decided to follow that mistake on purpose as respect or smth to the original
This was a song my wife said she didn't remember from the 70's even though I remembered it and she was older than me - I guess she didn't listen to the popular radio stations back then. I watched this video quite often after she passed away. I don't know why and I don't know if I can say it comforted me because I don't think I have yet to find anything that comforts me to this day but I did watch it often. Thank you.
Beautifully done young lady!!! So glad to see youth keeping old-school funk/R&B alive!!! You brought back great memories too!!! I still love to listen to EW@F....all the best to you!!!
Awww, I love this!!! Great playing!!! Such a fun and uplifting video. I love to see people doing what they love and enjoying it!!! Excellent bass playin sis!!😍🎸🎶
Have watched this video 5x and it has brought some Christmas joy! 🎄 I'm a keyboard man myself, but find myself thumping a base in my mind when I listen to certain songs. Thanks for an awesome performance...
Still my favorite "go to" that brightens my day every time I watch....thanks...is a magical vid you have here and love the song...I saw EWF play live and remember how awesome that was and you are maybe even better...more fun to watch
I don’t know what I enjoyed more about this video… The incredible playing or her reaction while playing, getting all into the song..Great video nonetheless.👍🏻👍🏻
If anyone has any doubt about the dedication it takes to perform this an other songs, just check out how warn away the paint is under her picking arm...This gal practices plenty...Bravo!
You can buy guitars & basses with paint worn away in certain spots. They call it "road worn". Her fretboard wear doesn't match the body wear. Could be she has had the neck replaced but i'm leaning towards the road worn look.
Amazing! Congratulations on your dedication to the wonderful instrument that is the bass guitar. Without it, music is dull, weightless! You won a fan in Brazil.
I wonder if making the "bad timing" in that one place in intro of September (like on the recorded version) has become an inside joke of bassists and if other people realize that it's there purposefully lmao I love your take on it!
enjoying this time after time, thank you for sharing your awesome gift. Love the micro facial expressions...is when you give hints its about to get funky....fun to watch for sure
@@NicolasJohnElder. I guess "timing error" isn't the right way to phrase it, but what I meant is that, instead of "fixing" that part, they leave it as it is on the record, which I think is really neat.
@@TotoDG I bet that was actually intentional to add some diversity and spice to the rhythm people have gone much much crazier to the point that it sounds "wrong" if you aren't used to the rhythms, but then it grows on you
@@jalsol dude it's really (and obviously) wrong there is no "secret aprecciation" or "growing on you" stuff it's wrong, maybe the guys noticed too late and leave it there or maybe there is another explanation for that... you make it sound like Earth wind and fire were made by music gods instead of normal humans like you and me... the band is awesome, the music is legendary and this minor mistake is what it is a minor mistake.
it's not a timing error, it's a rhythmic mechanic called "displacement". Drummers often do it with snares in funk style drumming to change the feel. Given that this is a disco song, the drums are straight, but that lick is a holdover from funk.
