I Loved Earth, Wind, and Fire in 1975, and Still Love them now, in 2024! Spirit is my Favorite Album! Rest In Peace Maurice.💔💔💔🥀🥀🥀🙏🙏🙏🕊️🕊️🕊️❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
The entire band was hot, on fire and a group of professionals. Props to Larry Dunn ( keyboard) who contributed to the success of the band. He's on keyboard with the big Afro.
This is still the #1 band in the land no 1 is as funky as EW&F and the guitars and horns sections, had us in High school playing their music, they are truly the best of the best.
I love the way Maurice White and Philip Bailey work off of each other! Both of the are so awesome and complement each other so well with their different styles of vocals! I think Philip is insanely underrated as a singer!
WOW! This bass line! This is the one occasion that the best horn band ever, got put aside from a simple (just kidding i adore this instrument) four stringed guitar.
I am transcended ever time I listen to EWF. I know why I love and live soul funk. These guys are the best in the world then and now. I still go to see them perform today. Still the best. RIP Maurice
The best spiritual soul group of all time.(listen) We are people of the mighty ,mighty people of the sun,In our hearts lays all the answers and truth you cant run from...... so ahead of they time....R.I.P..Maurice
Man this song speaks to me so much! "In your heart lies all the answers to the truth you can't run from." And this is a rhythm section clinic! Fred and Ralph are just locked in! And Dino's bass line! Maurice really was a genius and he was a real hero to me.
When I see Maurice in this context, knowing that he was once a Jazz Drummer for Ramsey Lewis, it just goes to show the genius of Musicianship - a gift to music. Thanks Maurice.
My Lord that sound is timeless Maurice my brother your stage presence is second to none Best is yet to come and enjoy your Holy and Mighty Promotion to the next realm "WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR YOUR DREAMS WILL TAKE YOU VERY FAR"
I’ve heard young bass players & even older ones talk crap about Verdine...but ask them to dance & sing while holding down the groove & they can’t come close.
I think this is they 1st hit on the R & B side It blew me away and I was only 9 or 10 years old at the time PS It wasn't their 1st hit but it's the 1st one that I know of
"Groove Personified" .....Hell to the Yes. The greatest band of all time...and the thing that elevates them to that status..is not only the message behind the music, the fantastic vocals and masters of their individual instruments..but the Inter-dimensional, time warping shared experience we know and feel as "THE GROOVE"...baddest band to ever do it...Timeless
Absolutely!!!!.......the Band and the Audience too...went up and up and up...you HAD to end this with exlplosions! EWF is the baddest band of all times. XD
Thank God many of them did!…Quincy Jones, Michael Jordan, Oprah, Steve Harvey, EWF, and all our Brothers & Sisters that are successful today and not making excuses complaining!!!
The first real ditching party I was invited to played this album over and over again...you needed nothing else, not even a dance partner! Long live the funk!
Maurice says "We're talking about groove personified." Hell yes. Mr. White was a genius to pull all this together. Sorry to hear he got Parkison's disease. Does NOT deserve that.
EWF were really the first funk supergroup who inspired many including Brits - The Average White Band and Level 42. Everything was top class with two lead vocalists (Maurice and Phil - 3 if you include Ralph Johnson) any of which could have held a band, three / four decent writers, incredible horns and percussion, Verdine on bass (energy!), Johnny Graham on guitar and of course Larry Dunn on keys - pure magic.
