Legendary EWF performing Reasons at a concert in 1982 (I think) featuring Don Myrick on sax. Check out Philip Bailey's high note at 2:18! Uploaded this just for my cousin, Ellie.
I'm a 45 yr old white guy. I grew up listening to this as a young kid. I still remember the day my black friends discovered I knew the words, we were in school and would sing this song together, over and over. I miss those guys, real, genuine friends who always had my back. We learned a lot from each other. Amazing how music can bring people together.
I saw the original EWF band live at the then Wembly Stadium, now known as the 02 Arena, in London, UK, in 1981. What a show they put on. The place was packed with over enthusiastic fans. We were all on our feet for the whole concert. Living memory for me. I was devastated when he was shot and killed by the popo in his own apartment, with a lighter in his hand, bc the cop was afraid for his life. The same BS excuse they still use to this day. MODERN DAY LYNCHING, I SAY. 🇨🇼🇩🇲🇨🇦
My moms favorite group. She always said my generation didn't have nothing on hers. Now I'm almost 35 and can appreciate how truly amazing this song is along with tons of other 70's R&B bands. Can't see anyone being able to make thorough original music like this anymore.
today's artist's have no soul like artist's of old, i'm so glad we still have them to turn to to guide us back to how music is suppose to be, about the love of music not the love of money
This brings me so many beautiful memories of the university days. Stirs memories within me of what it meant to be young and carfree. The 70's those were the times. Thanks for sharing.
I remember when I was a kid back in the 70's. This song would come on and the lights would go down and I would picked out the girl I'd been wanting to be dancing with all night and she finally said yes. And I put my hands around her waist and ooohhh that was a good feeling. Great memories.
Ahhh yes . . . The Elements. My 1st & 2nd husband's fav band (married the same man twice) until he died from complications of cickle cell. No more doctors, no more hospitals, no more pain. Thank you for being a beautiful man & for giving me a beautiful daughter. RIP Wayne, Luv u 4eva. (P.S. Put in a good word for me up there)
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLove Earth, Wind and Fire--product of the 70's...One of the most creative, baddest musicians of our life time....LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLove them sooooooooooooooooo much. Continued success guys.....A fan from the 70''s!
I can feel the california breeze in my face as I sit in the back of daddy's cadillac @ 8 years old still trying to see past his afro, listening to him sing this! Yasssss...... EWF was the Best Band of all times right along with Tower of Power! What happened to Real Music.. ?? Music you could play at a family reunion and from the old to the young could relate to... Damn I miss those days...
this is one of the best song ever made. My mom and dad love this band.. i'm 27 and when i was young i didn't understand this kind of music but now i do ;) Thank ur heart away to that place..
EWF rocks !! They are one of my all time fav's !! I could listen to this all day, it's great. I haven't gotten to see them live yet...but, I promised myself that the next time they come to Florida, I am going !!
THE BEST BAND EVER!!! One song better than the other. I fell in love with them since I was a young kid in the 80´s . Been to several concerts in many places and once I shook hands with Philip Bailey , at the Blue Note, in New York. He was performing to a small audience there. I passed in front of the place, stopped to read the signs - and just could not believe he was there, so close, right then. I went inside and watched him perfom. Humberto Silva- Brazil.
Absolutely Incredible! I have loved these guys since I was a teenager in the mid 70's.....can't get enough of them....I could listen to this music over and over and over....THIS is music!!!
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD, just love this song forever no matter what mood i'm in it picks me up and brings back good memories of the 70's, EWF is still kickin' it live! Great Post and Thanks!
The great ole days when music represented something completely different from what we hear today. Philip Bailey who performed the original surely did a number with this song and I can clealy remeber how the young men of the time would scramble to find a female for the slow dance when this song was played at parties, matinee, jam sessions etc. This tune brings back pleasant momories when life was less complicated and all the world appeared as bliss.
RIP Donny Myrick.....”he plays so beautiful, don’t you agree” . I was lucky enough to see this awesome tour in my younger days at the Philadelphia Spectrum. Myrick was brilliant, OMG, there will never be another band like Earth Wind & Fire. They were part of my youth....years and years later...I’m going to be 68 in June 2021, yet my children bought me VIP TICKETS for their concert in Syracuse, NY... They grew up listening to me talking about EWF and how much this band has impacted my entire adult life. This 2021Syracuse concert will be my 14th, and I am so fearful when meeting the band that I’ll either be tongue tied or die of a stroke. seeing the.
Best Christmas present ever...EWF is the one band that can bring the world together like no other. Pure, brilliant talent, this band has to carry on wit the young bloods....heal this nation with their music.
Don Myrick, another Chicago native(God rest his soul) blowing away souls in this rendition. My uncle was one of his original music teachers. What a blessing to be apart of such a historical group. I saw them in concert(40 year anniversary) in September and they truly have not lost a step. Minus the great Maurice White but great just the same. Greatest concert I have EVER been too. Sang every song. Thanks big sis for sharing your music with me.
When I listened this song more than 30 years ago, for 9 year old kid that voice of PB was felt like something came out of this world. Since then I have been firmly believing that this song is written ONLY for him to sing. While I have no particular words for DeAndre, still now I believe that this song shall only belong to PB. For no one else.
The late Don Myrick was the real "reason". You see, he made hot grease on that saxophone as it were. Phillip's voice interacting with Don"s saxophone solo was a special treat at live EWF concerts. R.I.P. Don Myrick.
Happy Birthday Phillip Bailey. Thanks for the gifts you have given us with your incredible voice. Nobody today sings music like this. You guys are unique.
I came here because of Andre too, but this is such a great performance that I'll have to stop myself from commenting something about him to enjoy the beautiful music!!
I just purchased Lillo Thomas' new CD; "Come And Get It". I like the hit single "What's Not To Love?" The CD is a winner. I have it on repeat in my BMW. It's good that Lillo is back.
Oaktown Native son here, bring back the 70's please! Ok, Deandre "fans", here is how a real singer does it! RU-vid search 'Earth, Wind and Fire - Reasons (live)' and see a mature Phillip Bailey show you what a real MasterBlaster can do!
Just was lucky enough to see Earth Wind and Fire at a private showing along with Tower of Power. Atherton California. Doug's 60th birthday party. It was the SHIT. I even got to meet the whole band, THE BAND. THE ... BAND...We don't even have bands anymore these days. /cry it was amazing.................................... No one does it like EW&F GOD Bless EW&F for saving me. 10/6/12 Monte Vista Ave. Off Atherton Ave. YAY MEE
@Jack2Landa and My guy and I drove right by there and I was like, Damn! Earth Wind & Fire, SOLD OUT! How did we miss this one....Kudos, this is the REAL MUSIC, I know they Rocked It!
unbelievable song, right there in my top three love songs of all time, along with Always and Forever, Living for the Love of You!!! Deandre from Idol can't hold a candle to these vocals. Makes you want to slow dance until the place shuts down.
I love all kinds of music, I listen to dubstep rock r and b pop emo and alternative of.to day My mom raised me right, i'm 28 I grew up listening to earth wind and fire, Marvin Gaye, the stylistics and many other great and classic oldies,
It's funny when you were raised on certain music, with such soul and you might have been to young to know the band,....but 30 years later, the music is still in your soul.
I've heard this song every day for the past 5 months working at Red Lobster..every time it comes on the whole staff breaks into song and the guests have a good laugh...had no idea it was from EWF!
The love they gave and the great singers in the band wow its like i miss them so much and what has happen to them well not just them but music it so sorry these days!!!
OMG what an AMAZING Voice!!! So sadly that noone make this Kind of Music anymore. I can't hear this modern BS anymore. GOD bless the 70s and 80s. Yes Germans love Soul toooooooooo. Soultrain forever!!!
i use to hang out in black clubs where the players (pimps, 3 card monte and other hustlers hang out) how could i forget this kind of music. a big part of my hustling life back in the 70s.
