Amazing when you listen to EWF how tight and great all the components of the band were. The vocals of course but the horns, the keyboards, the guitars and the bass all outstanding great performers all coming together jamming full blast. Even decades later this great sound of so many musicians coming together is amazing.

This song is so inspiring. It has a message in it for all of us.

While this song is clearly known for its intro riff and chorus, the interplay between bass and guitar during the verses is so tasty, so much more serious than the "You're a shining star" arrangement, really helps balance the tone of the song. Fantastic musicianship that is seemingly going out of fashion with modern sensibilities

70's were awesome. I totally loved the music. You could hear EWF, Parliament, Commodores and then Doobie Brothers, Supertramp, Led Zeppelin, and Boston. All on the same radio station. This song reminds me of Friday and Saturday night skating sessions at Ice Unlimited in Richmond Va.The 70's had it going on.

I've been listening to this song for almost 50 years and just noticed how AWESOME the intro to this song is! The way those guitars play off of each other with the faintest sound of the organ and then the bass kicks in before the whole band takes it to another level that most bands can only hope to achieve Not to mention the awe-inspiring lyrics!

I listen to E.W.F. when my kids are in the car with me. They sampled this in the new movie Minions Rise of Gru and my kids instantly starts dancin’ and jammin’ LMAO

For those who didn't have the privilege of growing up in the 70's (but have the pleasure of discovering this music now), Earth Wind and Fire were everywhere on the radio. It's fascinating to me that listening to them now as an adult and a musician, how harmonically complex their music is, and every single song that they did is like that. One cannot simply sit down with a guitar/keyboard and play the chords because there are no "chords" in their songs, in a traditional sense. The harmony is created through multiple melodic lines spread out through many instruments, some of them acting in counterpoint with each other. The fact that they could do this and still make the music funky, catchy and accessible to the general listening public is truly a testament to the immense talent of band leader Maurice White and the hard work and dedication that he and his band put into their craft.

This is real music by musicians with real talent.
