In most systems earth is connected to the neutral at the main panel. This provides high enough fault current that the breaker will trip even if there is no RCD. On TT system common in the continental Europe earth is provided only locally and an RCD is needed to reliably cut the power. An RCD protects also without earth but it may sting.
what if we connect the green wire to the black neutral wire so that the current on the toaster body due to leaking would go back to the power supplier?
Sir! I got a question. When multi meter measure.. Earth and Neutral testing probe. There are continuities. Can I say Neutral equal to Earth wire? Assuming it is, can we directly Live to source return to Earth instead of neutral? And if not rmb wrongly. Live without neutral are 400V right? With neutral then will be 230V. Can explain why? Also can do an experiment for Live to source to Earth instead of neutral pls. Thank you.
What happens to the breaker before a person touches the hotplate? will the breaker only trip when somebody touches the hotplate or will it automatically trip when it senses current in earth wire?
The current in the positive and negative balances each other inside the breaker using a coil (Faraday law, magnetic field balance), and if there is a mismatch between the two, it generates a current on a third wire (Faraday law) inside the breaker that is around the same coil, which will trip the switch.
Is that one an ELCB or an RCCB? ELCB required earthing wire to be passed through it and RCCB works on the circuit which is above mentioned. Please specify. I think you are wrong
ah, so bassiclly. the earth wire is a safty ground wire pulling potential positive current away from a person using a lower resistance conductivity that what the resistance of the human body is. i.e giving the positive current a easier/faster path to get home rather than using your body as a taxi.
But the current does never flow into earth, It always returns back to its source, so for the boy to get electric shock, the current should have a path to flow back to the substation after flowing through the boy
