"Men have always wanted to lay me down , but never wanted to pick me up. ". Wow. Says it all doesn't it. She wears her lesson on her sleeves for all of us to,learn. Brave, brave, beautiful beacon of life. She's brilliant. Posthumously, she still leads us to self, love and forgiveness. RIP. Ms kitt.
They can find the actress ..... but the essence that she fires, spit if necessary with such finesse don’t thinks so ... we are unique , but rejection and abuse turn her into a Phoenix and that’s a big task for an actress to transmit.
@@sassyintrovert Eartha from Heaven wanted us to hear these words, so we did. :) (Eartha: Come to the video. You need to hear these words. Us: ...But do we need to hear all those words exactly?)
Yeah, but she never mentioned how eager she was to lay down. Women never want to take responsibility for their part, she couldn't have gotten hurt if she wasn't willing to participate. So she's not a victim, she's a volunteer.
Eartha Kitt said: "A man has always wanted to lay me down, but never pick me up". Wow, what a lesson for guys who want to treat women better, decent and good.
"A man has always wanted to lay me down but never to pick me up. And the men that did have real love and affection for me were the ones that never touched me."
I agree! I've been thinking the same thing for years. I think maybe the actress who played Billie Holiday in the Hulu Billie Holiday movie should play her.
I've never, ever, ever, seen a celebrity do a sit down interview like his before and bare their soul. This was deep. Sad. Yet, inspiring at the same time. My heart ached for her. My soul prayed for her. My mind and own past experience, understands her. When she said men laid her down but never picked her up, I had to pause and take that in. Powerful. And when she talked about the mothers didn't want her to be with their sons, my heart went out to her again. This woman been through some things. So beautiful and so fragile. I think the greatest tragedy is to live and not know how worthy you are.
This beautiful lady always reminded me of a wild cat...her expressions her sudden change of emotion and body language was always intriguing...a unique lady.
She spoke more than 5-languages! She said she would never feel loved because she was abandoned and expects it!!! She said she'll keep learning and her diploma will be the grave! She's piwerful
Shocked.... Always thought she was cold, hard and calculated..... So damn sad... Grown ass man shedding a tear right here. Hope Eartha May found peace. Bless her.
she is so strong. she doesn't let her rough background define her future but rather convert it as powerful energy that keeps her forward. she forever will be an icon 💯
What a survivor, Miss Eartha Kitt. Hellfire pours down upon every individual who dared to mistreat this fiercely beautiful and phenomenally gifted artist. For only pure evil could hate the great physical, spiritual, intellectual, and inner beauty of this phenomenal woman. Thank God you are no longer here to suffer the cruelty of this earth, Miss Kitt. Say hi to God for me please.
@@CooWopmoochie Who is not a troubled soul upon this cruel earth? Huh? The world was excruciatingly cruel to Eartha Kitt. You would not want to trade places with her abusive childhood. It is understandable that she felt at times that she would fare better with the devil. But she came to her God-senses and rose above all the cruelty and degradation to become a fiercely talented artist and phenomenally beautiful human being. As I said, that great lady is a survivor and continue to give God a delicious lap dance while singing "Santa Baby" with her elegantly angelic voice. She even makes God blush! RIP Eartha Kitt. Say hi to God for me with a juicy kiss upon God's cheek!
"A man has always wanted to lay me down but never wanted to pick me up...." Just slap me with a ton bricks to the face!!! God! This woman! I just wish I could have given her the love she so badly needed! I adore Ms. Kitt. R.I.P.
+Sassy Green Garden Diva Eartha Mae would have been treated like a queen at my house! I know she has a great bed of feathers lifting her up all the time up in Heaven! We are so very blessed to hear her sing! She is so smart. I will try to start reading her autobiographies in the new year. Happy Holidays to you, Julie Coastal Georgia
+Sassy Green Garden Diva When she said that no one ever said Eartha Mae you're all right.....What a missed opportunity to partially mend that child;s hurt....One moment in time, forever lost. I was expecting the interviewer to say:";Eartha Mae, you;re all right, and he didn't. I loved Eartha then and to this day!
+Cheryl Simser It's a very old interview and maybe we didn't think that many men would think of it. would it be right for a white British man to say? would it help? The validation isn't his to give.
Rebecca Mary Stell He may not have had the forethought to deliver those words to her but kind words can come from any human being. Not validation, just being kind and comforting can be any human beings position.
+Ellie - giftofaidan I am white and exsperiance do lot of the same ! I admire her for overcoming as I know what it takes. Back then men could molest almost any one and get by with it.
you can see the pain and suffering in her eyes, such a shame, very great and powerful woman, she has overcome so much and still became successful, people complain about nonsense today
Eartha Kitt, what a wonderful individual,, absolutely love this interview and how vulnerable she was. What hurt and stood out for me was when she said "a man has always wanted to lay me down but never wanted to pick me up" Wow
@@debbiejansen1178 you are absolutely right. As a man I feel embarrassed that us men cannot see that this is wrong. Not looking brownie points just the truth a world without women would be horrid and its about time we recognise and respect women.
The part wear she says a man .... a man has always wanted to lay me down but never wanted to pick me up dame that got me and when she says the men that do love me never would touch me my God this got me
Wow!!! This is one of the most moving and honest interviews I have ever seen!!! I had to stop at the part where she said, "A man has always wanted to lay me down, but he never wanted to pick me up." My jaw is on the floor right now!!!
To go though all of this and become the iconic legend she has become is the definition of strength, resilience, and determination. Amazing woman. Simply amazing!!!!!
Out of all the comments yours is the only one that she was a very intelligent and intellectual person. I'd like to add that she was a very sensitive person as well. That's a powerful combo.
I totally resonate with a certain portion of her life... and that is the battle of the two sides of oneSelf. The journey to self love is not one of easiness.... it is a FIGHT!! And it remains a fight daily. One that can NEVER be compromised. One ounce of betrayal or what FEELS like it and it’s “game over”..... will never be able to see life again once you’ve healed.... “if” you heal. Seems as if she never did. My heart bleeds for her. My soul cries for her. My arms I wish I could extend to her. May her next cycle be One of greatness.... exempt from the pain of constant betrayal. Ase’👁🌌✨💫🌟👑💞
Her life could have went so many ways. She pushed through and became one of the biggest stars in the world. I love her strength, and I really hope she died knowing she was loved.
Am just bawling my eyes out oh dear God may her spirit finds eternal rest from this cold n loveless world 🙏🏾 May we as humans find it in our hearts to love the unloved mend the broken love regardless of race n skin shades we as people are sometimes as vile and cruel to our own human race it baffles the mind, may we see God in the face of each human. Anyone who reads this may your heart be healed from hurt n suffering and u find peace ♥️
Seeing Eartha with such pain in her heart, having been thrown away by so many, and seeing such a strong woman break down that bit, it breaks my heart, and I feel so much of what she says when she’s running away from rejection and when a man may want to lay you down but not pick you up. She’s such an inspiration
Ive seen some hateful and rude comments towards Eartha and i just gotta say that its crazy that some people don't respect people or serious situations. Some people have alot to learn. U can learn from Eartha
I once saw her on the Broadway stage, and her performance was unforgettable. There was both pain and joy in my heart, listening to her, watching her expressions, in this interview. Her pain may have always been there, but she managed to carry on despite it, and managed to find joy too - you can see it her smile, in her laughter. May her beautiful soul rest in peace, let her be an inspiration to all of you who need a bit of inspiration. She is an inspiration to me.
I had the opportunity to meet Eartha Kitt back in 1978-79 I believe. She was touring with Timbuktu the theatrical production. Which I had the opportunity to see . She autographed a Life magazine cover story of herself which I still have today.
