Great review and approach/process of sound/music. It was beautiful. I've got the 1st version, and I'm curious, have you tried the eurorack version ? Cheers 🍀
I definitely dont lol and she ghosted my brother when she went on tour to like show off some lame Ibanez guitar in europe. thinking she was gona be famous or something but "oh look an asian girl that plays math guitar!" only gets you so far. Sure she can play a tune or two but she's got all technique and no soul and she's a terrible human being- I wish you could actually get to know her.
She has a band named Covet, they have a new album out called 'Technicolor' that is bright, complex, adventurous instrumental music. It really, really grew on me after a few listens, and I hear different interesting things each time I listen. Here's a spotify link, cheers! open.spotify.com/album/3ouZZp6tCRElZLb4Qe0KVR?si=6NIXpUc5ThmIXyHgG4JlSg
Yeah, most people that male pedal videos play generic bluesy dad rock. Which is fine if that's what people like but it really does a disservice when showing pedals to all the people who prefer other genres. Knobs and Pedal Partners are two great channels I found that have a dreamy type tone like Yvette.
Her modesty is as obvious as her talent. I discover Yvette (French sounding name no ?) and I love the way she' explains sooooo artistically her perception of this wonderful little box. I bought it too and I use it with my MoogSub37, it's great. Thank you Yvette..
Yvette Young truly understands this pedal. Great description of Version 3. I play acoustic deviations of pop songs. Makes you just drift away. Excellent review and demo. Ivette is 6 Stars ⭐️
Stacking a Boss RE-20 delay with the Afterneath can get some really spacey, atmospheric sounds. Having a tape delay with a long reverb from the Afterneath is really inspiring when writing a nice, slowed down euphoric song. I spent plenty of nights experimenting with these two pedals and am very impressed with what they can do! They have definitely earned a spot in my effects chain!
Wow can you please get Yvette to do more pedal reviews like this? Her playing is wonderful, perfectly suited to these kinds of shoegazey/ambient/prog/post-stuff pedals and her explanations are really really excellent. Reminds me of ThePedalZone but with her own style. More of this please!
Yvette‘s playing is so amazing! I always thought WTF is this pedal. Now that I have one, I absolutely love it, it‘s on my board and many new song/riff ideas were inspired by the EQD Afterneath V3.
I swear - if Yvette doesn't get a signature pedal of some kind in 2020...well, there's gonna be trouble! Come on pedal makers - it's a natural match for a wonderful musical talent and self-professed gear nerd.... :D Make it so!
Never heard or seen Yvette playing before but this is a great review and really tasteful ambient / experimental playing. More form Yvette please... Now i'm off check out her album
The pedal is cool. Myself, it's something if I bought it would be for one or two things then mostly sit in there bin I have that I keep effects that only make it on the board once in a while;filters, ring-modulators, auto-wah (like there EHX Cockfight that I got because I heard it used by someone playing "Use it or lose it," from Crue's Theater of pain, which instantly brought me back to being a 12-13 year old budding guitar player, interestingly enough I find myself using that a lot. It's easier and lighter to carry when I need to use a Wah than my old 535Q is). Earthquaker Devices definitely make really interesting pedals. They take traditional effects into really unique places. Walrus is the same, their Julia chorus/vibrato has replaced my MXR M134 stereo chorus for FAR longer than I thought it would. My first introduction to E.Quaker was the Ghost Echo spring reverb. I acquired it in a trade about 10 years ago. I had never even heard of them when I first tried it out. It's been quite a number of years since I've used it so I'm only working off memory, but I remember I found it so convincing that I knocked it with my foot waiting for the spring "KLANNNNG," which obviously never came.
I've got the V2 and it just sits on my pedal cabinet, which is where many of my pedals go to die. Cool sounds, fun to play around with from time to time, but not useful enough to take up space on my board.
Cool addition, would love to add an LFO style expression box it would probably make sounds similar to eventide blackhole or particle reverb if did. Cool demo style btw! I was looking for vocal pedal as this is not just mud and too-long real hall that would piss off FOH, it may actually be heard for shoegaze. We'll see, as i use a Zoom MS50G for reverse reverb on guitar (or 'everything') so will try both and see which is best for each instrument- and then end octaver was inspiring me too much (might be weird on vocals). It reminds me of the hidden accidental sounds in an EHX Hazarai which i have ran vocals thru a lot, except totally explored and opened up intentionally.
I bought this pedal today, and I also learned today that I’m not into regular or common reverb types. this one is sick. I hope that I can be honest enough, it’s a new toy in my hands after all. nevertheless, Yvette, you are such a talented player and I enjoyed listening to your feedback. Rare Piece. Thanks for this demo!
Dude same. Literally today. There seems to be a relatively large learning curve but I really like it so far. Can't wait to hook it up to my fuzz to see how it reacts.
I’m looking around your room, which is a give away that I am watching for reasons other than reverb, as I... oh wait... the modulator brought me back to things. Niiiiiice! Ok then... Cool video! ! ! They have one like this for Eurorack use with CV controls for everything. You might want to check that area out, cuz it’s next level trippy... bye
Personally I prefer the cave graphic on the original. To me its always look like the cave is have a lake in it. That really jived with me for the idea of a reverb pedal maybe it could have used a little more detail but I like it better than this thing where its like the wizard is tearing apart the earth.
damn, I guess I got a lemon as mine only made a long dense reverb and hardly anything else. Definitely none of these sounds. Traded it in on a Pitch fork which actually does as advertised.
i never thought yvette young would finally realize her tapping is overrated. tapping itself as a technique is overrated, and now she can actually make some interesting and original sounding tracks maybe. even she admits the dumb tap runs died in 2014
It's a complicated pedal, and it's a first look. You can tell by the comments that few are familiar with it's functions.Think she did fine for the first go.
