An asteroid hits the Moon, causing fissures in its crust and sends a chunk hurtling toward Earth. Even worse is the threat that larger pieces will break off which could obliterate whole cities on impact! With the Moon out of sync, strange weather and huge tidal waves are threatening the population. Scientists conclude the only solution is to set nuclear charges on the Moon to implode it and keep it whole. The man for the job is demolitions expert, John Redding. Can he succeed in placing the charges correctly before an even larger piece threatens civilization?
Stars Stephen Baldwin and Anna Silk

Not bad. Some good tension moments. Some cheesy moments. Family friendly and the usual heroic stuff. I haven’t seen Stephen Baldwin in a long while it would be good to see him more often.

I admire Stephen Baldwin immensely as a person and actor. He's a steadfast good and decent family man, unlike his unfortunate brother who suffers from hubris. I enjoyed this movie immensely. Only God knows what the future holds in store and mankind can only conjecture the possibilities.

It was a good movie that was not overdone. Not seen Stephen Baldwin act before and it was nice seeing Dirk Benedict again acting. The last time seeing him was on the TV series "Galactica and the A-Team". It was well done and not with violence but with plenty of dialogue and science covered. A family could watch this with no problem with the age of the children. It could be a movie to inspire the young to go into the sciences.

An excellent "disaster" movie, on a celestial scale ! Smart minds have a "brainstorming" on mending the broken moon and to deal with how the catastrophic events on earth could be averted. This could well materialize to be a possibility in the future, where concurrence of diversified expertise would be required, and also resolution, quick and correct decision-making. Foretells how crucial human preparedness is. One thing: The "weightlessness" that ought to be felt, during the (entire) sojourn, is not shown, which is incongruous with reality! That apart, the movie is an engaging one and keeps you glued to your seat till the end. All actors do good justice to the story-line ! Thanks, RU-vid for presenting us a wonderful movie !!!

Almost didn't watch because I'm not a Steven Baldwin fan... but I read the reviews and gave it a chance. Good fairly B disaster flick. I like my disaster flicks VERY B, more baseline unrealistic with lots of dialog you can laugh about, like entering the fissure on the moon and they say "it's going to be dark".... like - the rest of space is illuminated? And the 20 year old space ship captain. All good... worth the watch. Thanks Midnight Screening... keep em' coming. These movies keep me from thinking about the actual disasters going on in the world today.

If you ignore the way the 'shuttle' was flown, with the pilot reaching for controls at arm's length above her head whilst accelerating to escape velocity, and other impossible activities, it's a good film to waste an hour and a bit on! All that was needed to round it off was demolition man to ask scientist to marry him!

Love how they built a model of the fractured moon for demonstration in quick time. "We're not asking you to go to the moon (...yet)." "We're more comfortable if you're up there pulling the trigger." So he pushes a button. The pilot grips the joystick with both hands as the turbulence in the vaccum of moon space is terrific (and of course its got rocket engines that sound like turbines). The shuttle crew are running around, feet on the floor--its got artificial gravity! Nukes are brought into the office bldg to be signed for.... "Its the density! There must be more mass than I thought...." A meterorite is at ground level after traveling at several kmh, and the crew assistant breaks off a chunk of that COLD iron stuff with a geologist's hammer.... Don't ya just love SciFi comedies?

Also, ground telemetry isn't neccesarily the best way to steer a ship. If there are mini satellites that can drop navigational buoys on the Moon, the Moon itself would have or be a navigational marker. With increasing distance from Earth, remote telemetry becomes less reliable, but with navigational buoys on the Moon they would be much more reliable for steering and landing, since all terrain would be known, and the point on the Moon designated for landing would with that also be easily recognisable. I would suggest 6 or 10 of these buoys, for redudancy purposes. They would be much weight anyway, like 5 kg's tops for each. For each of these buoys an addition would be possible that allows for nearby terrain scanning and with that eliminate any otherwise common variables concerning any landing..

54:00 There's a reason why stormwinds prevent a launch. It's the moment when a rocket takes off, which during that time has zero control by any control surface, unless sideways thrusting engines or control jets have been mounted. The amount of sideways force on a rocket then has a maximum compensation in accordance to the counterforce by the control jets. This can be undone by either launching from below ground, where the speed gained below ground can allow for control surface correction and also already control an ascent vector, to allow for the correct take-off trajectory as a sum of all forces applied to the rocket, winds included. Also, an underground accelerator can allow for greater speed gain below ground, and with that drive the rocket fuel ratio down. It would be nice if the first say 500 kmh would be free, since that would almost double the cargo capacity. The fuel would be only lessened by maybe 5%, but all that weight can now be cargo.
@ZMacZ
@ZMacZ Год назад
In the future rockets for lifting things into space can be propelled up to 5000 kmh before needing their own fuel, and this would then allow for roughly 20 percent less fuel cost, and thus increase the cargo payload by a mutiple of 4-5 for each launch. I'd suggest using maglev for it. Comparable the Falcon Heavy can lift 68 tonnes of cargo now, but with an accelerator it can lift well in excess 350 tonnes. After orbital insertion, it can then be received by ion tugs, small remote piloted vessels with ion engines, that can divert anything in space to either geostationary orbits, transplanetary trajectories or for instance the Moon or deep space at minimal fuel cost.

Dirk Benedict, in this movie, reminds me very much of the (almost forgettable) role he played in a movie with Strother Martin, where Strother slowly turned Dirk into a human snake. Weird movie, can't remember the title, but it was okay for a one-time viewing. Benedict's facial expressions were much the same as here, at least until he lost his facial motions due to being more snake than human. I've never bothered to watch anything with Alec Baldwin in it, but this one, with Stephen, I've seen three times (with this current viewing). I don't know why, but this movie is just compelling enough for me to enjoy it every few years. No really foul language, for one thing, which I greatly appreciate. Too, Mr. Baldwin is very mellow in it, and that's nice to see in a movie genre where at least one person is totally off the wall (hello, Dirk Benedict!)

BUT......wasn't a waste of time and had almost as many nice, action, good moments as it did cringing science fails. Decent enough. As a movie as a whole 5/10. As a decent take your mind off life film 8/10 considering the junk on RU-vid.

I guess demolition guys and rigger guys (The Core) are more sexier than astronauts and nuclear scientists. That's why the film directors keep using them in disaster movies🤣🤣

Bad physics, but good fun. The Baldwin in this one wasn't bad either.

I always thought there was 3 kind of movies, A,B and C with C being BAD. I give this movie a new grade, D. Not cause I want to complain rather than to save somebody else from having to watch CRAP! Cya...

This movie is funny. I let a lot slide, but when the crate of nukes turns up, that was just too hilarious. This is the pinnacle of ironic potential cult classic daytime television sci-fi movies.

We have Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter on the moon that couldn't capture the cause of this phenomenon. How quaint...

That was actually pretty good. In reality if we ever face that kind of threat at our current level of technological development we are Royally Screwed!

Good stuff, one of the better quality Disaster movies. With all your favourite expected characters, glaring plot holes & continuity issues. Plus Dirk Benedict 👍🏼👍🏼 Thanks for the movie.

Regardless of the shuttle crew's mistakes in the lack of gravity in space and other major movie mistakes in the issue of the moon's gravity and the extent of the magnetic influence on it, and many others, the American saviors always save our planet from the great calamities that fall on it and in it!!!

Say what you will about Billy Baldwin’s acting capabilities but at least he didn’t murder anyone on set.

Surprisingly good, now I have no clue about the scientific accuracy in this movie, but from a disaster fantasy movie it was worth it.
