Missed the Nintendo DSiWare version. It had some really fun exclusive features, like an extra difficulty level and face mimicking mini game that used the DSi's camera. There's also an EWJ game for the Famicom, but It's an unofficial bootleg, and it's rather crap. Despite the game being released on a multitude of formats, the Mega CD version, is, and will always be, the ultimate version for me.
Wow como me gustaba este juego yo jugué la versión del snes y la versión HD que salió en play Station 3. Que lastima que en la actualidad ya no saquen juegos de esta gran lombriz con traje espacial.

I prefer the Genny and Sega CD versions. The PC (DOS & Windows) does look impressive. I like the look of the newest remake's but the amount of "hand holding" throughout is sad. They might as well play the game for you.
Earthworm Jim didn’t even try to make any drastic changes when porting to other platforms. This is cool, because quite often ports to SNES and other platforms try to stand out in some way.
0:20 Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis (SMD/GEN) 37:00 Sega Master System/Sega Mark III (SMS/MK3) 24:32 Sega CD/Sega Mega-CD (SC/SMC) 14:20 Sega Game Gear (GG)
The SNES version looks great, especially the colours and shine in the background. I also like the little sprites in the Gameboy and Game Gear ones too but the lives, health and ammo counters look horrible.
Version tier list: S: Windows 95, Sega Cd A: DSi Download, Genesis (Same as Wii "Version"), HD (Both ps3 and x360), MS Dos, iPhone B: Snes, OG GameBoy, Steam, J2ME C: Master System, Game gear, Game boy advance
It's amazing how the GBA could run Yoshi's Island, another 16 bit game, like butter, but this and Sonic 1 run like rotten crap. Was the Game Gear version really worse than Game Boy? I mean it's obviously in color, and quite honestly the sprites look somewhat better but that could just be my eyes. The Master System runs fine, but there's too much of the screen exposed than need be. And 1996? Don't know why they would bother making a SMS game that late.
for some reason, retrosutra didn't even bother to place the worm emoji on the video title but placing the caterpillar emoji edit: for some reason, retrosutra didn't even bother to place the worm emoji on the video title but rather placing the caterpillar emoji
My Opinion 1: SNES/Super Nintendo/Super Famicom 2: Master System/Sega Mark III 3: Sega CD/Mega CD 4: Sega Genesis/Sega Mega Drive 5: Sega Game Gear 6: PS3/PlayStation 3,Xbox 360/X360 Xbox One HD Game 7: PC-DOS/MS-DOS 8: Windows 95 9: J2ME/Java Mobile 10: Game Boy Advance/GBA 11: Game Boy
It really depends man. Some games Snes sounds like absolute shit. Like Pac Man 2. Sometimes it pulled off real instruments well, sometimes it was filtered to hell with reverb on top. But Genesis had that awesome techno synth sound BUT that style didn’t work for everything haha
how about Sega cd version? it´s have a extra level and extended levels, more voices and new weapon, sadly they don´t add that stuff in the ps3/xbox live versions
@@robjackson4050 According to Wikipedia, the DS version was released but isn't sold anymore, same with the PS3 and XBox 360 and Java versions, and also a Wii version. Also all of these are digital-only releases.
It’s so unfortunate how bad the GBA port is. The whole screen is way too zoomed in, so you can’t see anything that’s like… 2 meters in front of you. The textures on the ground and walls look weird and glitched. The character’s animation look really janky even though they use the original sprites. And THE SOUND, it’s so compressed it hurts my ears.
in reality the sprites on the GBA version were not so good, that is to say unlike the snes and genesis versions they have a stupid, fun and fluid movement like "cool spots" but in that version some sprites are missing in the animation that made the character move fluidly which made it fun! and furthermore the sounds aren't as great as in the other versions, and then in the sprite when Jim stands still he moves left and right and doesn't stay still on the same point of the sprite (it's as if they had a hard time gluing him to the same point), and the pixels are a little cut and a small part eliminated😑😑😑, but I liked the music🥰🥰🥰
this a rare case where all versions except the game boy which i didn't even know existed till now look exactly the same also this maybe be hard to believe but this isn't even close to the last master system game they were making new ones as recent as 2013 and surprisingly a good majority of them were licensed though not usually made by the people who made other ports of the game also unpopular opinion i never liked this game but then again i didn't like the 2d metroid games for the same reason i don't like the combination of shooter and platformer
OG Sega game - "you can come where you want, find out how to fight midboss and level boss on you own" PS/Xb and the rest of that zoomer generation shit remake- "here's direction arrow so you don't get lost, also here's thorough description of how and where to attack those enemies". I'm surprised they didn't slap on aim assist and "press X button to let the game play on it's own" Did people really get THAT MUCH dumb throughout last 20 years?
Even though I still enjoy toilet humor from time-to-time, most of the specific gags in here, I've grown out of; just feels too much like "ha ha random" than a thought-through joke. Still fun to play, though. Just wish it didn't turn out that like half the main dudes behind it were terrible human beings.
most gba ports were sadly some make you wonder why they even bothered like with sonic 1's gba port i mean the java ports were better and it was less powerful hardware
Semi-unrelated comment here. Such a shame that the creator of this classic game, Doug TenNappel, is such a transphobic asshole...and in a really ungroovy move, he insulted James Dahlbender, one of my online friends and developer of a fan-made Puffy AmiYumi reboot. Let's just hope you do a versions comparison of it's sequel.
The last 2 are shameless, thieving bastardized cash grabs with half-assed, traced-over spritework, stolen assets, and horrible impressions. Because to call that phoned-in, one-take dreck "voice acting", even in quotes, would be a sin against the very art. Interplay prostituted Doug TeNapel's creation to developers who had no idea what they were doing just to make them hastily crank out these crap coated copycats in time for the worm's 15th anniversary. 👏...👏...👏 What a special hurrah. Sorry for the rant. No videos on this. Nobody talks about it. Finally found a place it could be relevant. The 12 year itch has finally been scratched... holy shit, hallelujah, where's the tylenol?
