I love how the first broadcast starts with a merry but somewhat alarming tune announcing the start of the German invasion, as there is hope to achieve final victory. The second one however starts with an ominous, eerie, hopeless tune because the enemy has entered the capital and the war is practically impossible to win. Simply amazing.
just to clear things up - the second one was a regular radio callsing used in poland even in pre war period, the first one if i'm correct was also a Polskie Radio callsign - not sure about the details. I know for sure we (i'm from Poland) use the variation of the first melody to this day, and the "ominous" one, kinda fits pre war period - it was a time in poland of both quasi dictatorship, but also immense grow in fields of art and music, so that vibe would probably sit well with people back then. The recordings were actually real. I might made some mistake here, and i'm sure better informed Polish viewer might correct whatever mistakes i've made (apart from butchering english).
The fact that the voice recordings are actually real… Edit: Dayum, I posted this a year ago. And never expected to return here, just to see over a thousand likes. Thx guys :)
These types of videos really make me cry, but I really don’t wanna forget them. They are a memory of the past. The voice of this man is giving me chills. Whenever I hear it, my heart gets broken. I never wanted to be alone, so did the Polish. I always felt alone because my friends didn’t understand me that much. They just want happiness, actually who doesn’t? But I couldn’t handle the betrayal, despair and the words that try to raise the nation’s hope in this recording. Remember me even if has been years. Love from Turkey to Poland 🇹🇷❤️🇵🇱
As far as I heard, they were taking a break for a few years, probably till the war ends, sad that my country was not existing for 129 years (6 years WW1, 123 since 1795 i think)
"Halo halo? Czy nas słyszycie? To nasz ostatni komunikat. Dziś oddziały niemieckie wkroczyły do Warszawy.
Even growing up with a polish family and grandparents who were born shortly before the war, it never quite hit me how terrifying it must've been until recently. I always thought it was horrible , but the pure terror and dread, no way to escape and limited choice to fight back. Truly horrific . And yet jeszcze Polska nie zniknęła
Fun fact: That first radio alarm was recorded few days before the war, because they knew something gonna happen. Thats why hours aren't real. He said 5:40 while Germany attacked at 4:45
Poland was conqured over the years and dont forget the most important Times when we saved Europe twice or 3 Times without us it would've been either the Mongolian Empire expanding into europe, Ottoman Empire expanding into Europe or soviet Union spreading communism into Europe
First to conquer moscow, only to beat soviet union, saved europe twice from muslims and Austraia who we saved still attacked us in ww2 and the allies betrayed us, we are the strongest country without a doubt
Like fate of polish society in ww2. I recommend you animated film called "Genocide. Animated documentary movie" by Arkadiusz Olszewski or you can watch original version in polish language "Ludobójstwo. Genocide. (Eng It Fr Ger Pl subtitles)"
That distortion at the start of the second is haunting. That wasn't jamming. That was an explosion going off. And that's terrifying it was close enough the radio heard it.
I live in Warsaw, in some places I can see preserved traces of the war, such as bullet marks on the wall of the building where the inhabitants of Warsaw were shot. When I listen to this recording, I just want to cry.
As a first gen American I think its really cool my parents taught me their language. Being able to understand the words makes it that much more powerful
Ok so I've actually never heard this announcement WITH the EAS Alarm noise prior to now... Which makes this all the more scarier... Combined with the purge style alarm going off in the midst of the Polish anthem playing.
The second broadcast was so eerie…. knowing how much of my country’s history changed from that day forward. Jeszcze Polska nie zgineła … that is the first line of the Polish national anthem, spoken with such conviction
Fact: If you are looking for the exact same bird in 0:02 it's the emblem of the 'Polish Armed Forces in the west' the exact image is in a Wikipedia article.
I don't know if the creator is from the USA or a Latin country. Here is the message. The moment 0:04 gave me a tremendous chill and I was walking alone, I was scared.... Latino: El momento 0:04 me daba un escalofrío y andaba solo y me daba miedo...
