I am 81 yrs old and trying to teach myself how to crochet. I have found the best way for me to learn is to watch the video tutorials and yours is the best. You explain things clearly and go slow enough for it to sink in plus it is very convenient to be able to pause the video and go back to it whenever necessary. I will explore your web site more as time allows. Thank you for all you do! I just started this blanket and am making it a little larger so it will probably take me forever to get it done but so far I am on row three and it is going pretty well.
If you ever need to slow a tutorial down you can adjyst the playback speed. I did not know if you were aware of that or not. But in case you did not know you can click on the gear in the upper right which is your settings and you will get a drop-down menu. Choose playback speed and you can increase or decrease it by certain percentages. I like it when they're showing exactly where to put your hook in a specialty Stitch but her hand blocks where the hook actually goes but if I put it in super slow motion I can see where the hook is aimed before she covers it up then I go back to normal speed. Or if she's making a chain of a lot of stitches and she's counting each one out I can speed it up. Just thought I'd let you know. Glad you are enjoying stitching
@@marciajohnson3642 on a phone the gear is on the upper right but on a lap or desktop us right at the botton of the video next to the closed captioning option. I'm 80 so close to you. I've been crocheting a long time though but learn so much from good videos like this.
As a 30 year old male I never thought I would learn to crochet but thanks to your tutorials, I have made a 120 granny square blanket for the back seat of my old car and now just finished a small baby blanket for my nephew from this tutorial. So thank you heaps!!
That's awesome, Kyle Forward! You ROCK!!!! Granny square blankets are no joke - they LOOK "easy", but they are a battle of endurance for SURE! Good for you!! 🌸👍🌺
I love the way you point out exactly where the stitch goes. When your new it’s hard to tell sometimes. You are a good teacher easy to learn from. Thanks
You are a great teacher. Wish I found you sooner. I am going to love making this blanket. I just retired and leaning how to crochet. I want to make things to donate to NICUs or to cancer patients.
What a gorgeous blanket! I whipped it up pretty quickly for the 8-weeks-early arrival of my first grandchild--a girl! She and Mom (my daughter) are doing well! I just got back to crocheting after my mother taught me as a teenager. I am finally doing something with it, after a several decade long abstention. 😉 It looks wonderful! Many thanks for an easy but wonderful pattern.
You hit it out of the park once again! I learned how to crochet from you, with The Drunken Granny Stitch. In the absolute early days of that video, & I've been positively evangelical about it. Telling strangers in craft stores about it! 😀😁 Thank you so much- forever! It's a bonus that you're such a warm, interesting, and multitalented person. P.S. I learned to crochet from you after suffering a devastating neurological condition- you have aided my recovery & given me & my family joy. ☺💖💎🏆🌷
Looks like an amazing stitch to do. I like the way you show where the stitch goes and the stitch marker idea. Beautiful and you are a great teacher love your camera and hand placement. Love the border
I love love love this stitch ! I've tried other blanket stitches but I always frog them & go back to this one ! I'm legally blind so it is soveasy for me to do ! Thanks, Christa for your wonderful tutorials !
Thank you for this fantastic tutorial. I had to reteach myself how to crochet after about 40 years. Even then all I knew how to do was a basic granny square. Thanks to you I have made several blankets/lapghan using this stitch. You are very clear in your instructions, made learning a pleasure.
I have never crocheted in my life . I watched this video and was able to make my first baby blanket. Next I’m gonna make the basket I just watched you make
I made this for my first grandchild due in a few weeks. It is a GORGEOUS stitch!! The blanket is so luxurious! He’s going to love it !😍 I wish I could attach a picture.
I love this pattern. I just finished it in 4 colors (pink, blue, green and yellow) with a white border and it is beautiful. I am starting another in a soft buttercream solid color one. Can't wait to see it done. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful patterns. I've made several of your pattern for baby afghans I donate. Again, thank you so very much.
I think this is one of the easiest blanket patterns I have ever seen. Perfect for when you want to concentrate on a programme and just crochet away all relaxed. Tfs. Take care everyone and stay safe 😘😊🤗
Hi from South Africa 🇿🇦 this is an amazingly easy pattern. I'm crocheting plarn sleeping mats for the homeless and this works up fast and easy to remember. I also crocheted the drunken granny pattern for my nephew in a nice bulky wool. It worked up so fast. Love them 🥇🎖🏆 thanks for sharing. God bless
FINALLY! A blanket I feel comfortable attempting- a blanket I can get my crochet hook through all the loops and still have an elegant looking blanket. You are such a wonderful teacher. I am so glad I found your channel. I look forward to seeing other videos you have made. I am such a beginner. I hadn't held a crochet hook since I was in middle school some 45 years ago until I was diagnosed with Breast cancer recently and wanted to make knitted knockers since I had a mastectomy. I find the craft quite enjoyable when I can find patterns for newbies... with a wonderful teacher as yourself. You are the best I have found to date. Thanks again for sharing.
I made this pattern several years ago I lost it and have looked high and low for it. When I saw it on your podcast I jumped up and down. Woohoo thanks so much for doing this. Love it. Love the border.
I've been crocheting for over 48 years, and C2C is one of my most used patterns. So easy to do, and so easily customized! I've made only one straight-row box stitch shell afghan in all that time, mostly because I like C2C so much, I just don't do the other version. I love so many different stitch patterns, especially the post stitches, both front and back, that I should probably make a blanket/afghan out of squares of each stitch pattern. It'd certainly be large enough for a king size bed (though my bed is much, much smaller)!
Made my second blanket from this pattern. This was made for my dad to use in his chair. It ended up being wider than he needed for his chair, so he is using it with vertical stripes. The size ended up being perfect for his need. My dad is aging and asked for a camo blanket after I made the first one. It was alot of fun to crochet.
Excellent tutorial of where to put hook, plus showing us in detail how to do a border, I've never done a proper blanket border, always been unsure, so this is great. Thank you.
I thank you because it’s hard when I’m trying to make a blanket when I get to the end of a row to turn it starts to be uneven so I thank you. I also paid for the printed copy and it reads like you talk very easy to follow.
Just started back up crocheting after several years of just working. I absolutely love this and I’m going to make it for my great grandson. I’m so glad I found your channel. Your videos and tutorials are wonderful. Thank you so much.
Hello Christa, I just found your site tonight. And I love this sticth it's easy to follow with your great instructions. I love the fact that I can pause the video, do each step that you explained. And then continue, this is the first stitch of this type where the ends of the rows come out straight. I've tried this sticth before on other sites. And I didn't like how each row ended. But I love how these's rows end nice and even. Thank you for this tutorial.
Thank you for showing me in a very basic way how to crochet. I am just about to retire and want to crochet baby blankets for a woman’s refuge. Love your teaching style along with your fabulous personality.
Oh thank you so much for JOINING the FAMILY, Lynette Phillips! Send me an email to christa@secretyarnery.com with your mobile number and I can add you to the WhatsApp groups! YAY!! 🌺🌻🌸
I made this blanket a few weeks ago for my first grandchild. It is absolutely beautiful and so easy to follow. You are a fantastic teacher and I watch a lot of your tutorials learning new stitches. Thank you so much for your clear instructions and patience❤
I just finished this for a newborn, all white, and thanks to your excellent way of instructing, there wasn’t 1 flaw! 😊 I’m a beginner/intermediate and haven’t crocheted in decades, thanks to you I’m hooked and on a roll. Thank you so much! Please keep them coming. 🤗👍😊
This was probably one of my favourite blankets to make. Loved how easy the rows were once you got started. I will definitely make more of these! Thank you so much for the tutorial!
Hi I know you have done this while back I just want to say thank you I couldn't have made this beautiful blanket for my granddaughter with out you beautiful teaching thank you 💖
I'm so excited to try my hand at this. My youngest sister is due sometime in December and I want to make this for her daughter. I'm so anxious, but SO EXCITED!!
I am just on the border of this blanket. Even though I am a left hander I was able to follow this easy as. I'm hoping the family I gift this to is as happy as I am to make it. Thanks ever so much for the tutorial.
Thank you for your tutorials. You make it easy to follow you. The black background shows off all your colors of yarn, even white. I am making a lap blanket as a service project for MLK Day of service this year.😉👍💗
Thank you so much. This pattern is simple but has a fancy look which i love. Also as others have stated you are a great teacher! I always have a hard time finding the beginning and last stitch of the rows and you make it so much easier.
I’m new-ish to crocheting. Thanks to clear and concise tutorials like this, I’m becoming more confident in my abilities. Right now I’m working on blanket, which will be a Christmas gift. I can’t wait to get started on this new project. Thank you so much! 🧶💜😁
Such a beautiful baby blanket! I love the simplicity of it. I guess I will be buying Softly Baby yarn for my next baby project. Looks really soft, and the pastels are true. Thanks for this excellent tutorial. As always, when I use one of your tutorials, I always buy the pattern. You deserve that for all your effort.
Beautiful!!! I make 20" by 25" preemie coverlets for our local NICU. The nurses just LOVE the sets I make for the preemies. I'm ALWAYS looking for new patterns to change up the blankies for the babies.
Teresa, I’ve been wanting to do this. Do you launder them before you take them to the hospital? Any other tips would be appreciated! Thank you in advance! ❤️
@@Vee-qq1pn no, I do use Lion brand Pound of Love and I put each set into a gallon size ziplock bag as I finish it. I knit hats and booties, the nurses prefer them because they stretch nicely.
I’ve been wanting to make small size blankets for wheelchair patients at veterans home. This looks like it would be really nice pattern, easy to follow and work while listening to tv or music! Does anyone have recommended size for wheelchair blankets?
Yes, that's a great idea. When chaining such a long chain it's easy to get the count wrong. It also makes it easier to find the correct stitch to stitch into. Absolutely worth the extra seconds to use the stitch markers. Thanks!
Thank you so much. Half way through doing this blanket, it looks beautiful. I am making a baby blanket, using white and different shades of blue. This will be my go to stitch for baby blankets. Beautiful and so easy.
This is a beautiful blanket. I was able to follow easily your step-by-step instructions and since have made two of these blankets for baby shower gifts. I just love the pattern and the way you guide through making it. Thank you
Wonderful tutorials. Very clear and easier for novices to follow which stitch is which. Bravo and thank you for all of your hard work producing these helpful videos.
Thank you Christa for all your wonderful tutorials. I made a blanket with the drunken granny and I wanted to make one with the sober granny. I’m working on it and it’s beautiful. It’s hard to choose a favorite because all your work it’s beautiful. Sending you lots of blessings to all your family.
Thank you so so much for the tutorial on this blanket. I have been trying to figure out what this stitch is and how to replicate it. My grandmother used to crochet and I unfortunately only picked it up once she was no longer with us. This was one of her go to blanket looks.
I just finished the Sober Granny for a friend's 16-month-old. It took me about a week with all my starts and stops. 😊 I'd like to show it to you, but I'm not sure how.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, your explanation is very helpful and detailed, I love this blanket i made it in cotton yarn ,and it came out beautifully, and I'm just a beginner, I'm so happy with it ❤❤
I would like to thank you for the pattern. I enjoyed making it! I used mandala ombre and loved the self striping effect. Made a nice gift for a new baby boy. 💯
I don't have any babies in the family right now, but I'm going to try to make this in white. It's a beautiful stitch that's also easy. You're an excellent teacher; so many leave out the details but you explain everything. Thanks so much, liked and subscribed.
I absolutely love this pattern. This is the first blanket I made, I started crocheting in October and I made this blanket in December. Such an easy to follow tutorial. I would miss d making this again
