Could you explain to me the water bottle humidity thing please. I take a water bottle . I am using a Powerade bottle and filled it with water almost completely and out airstone connected to the air pump. Then took tubing and put one end in the water with nothing attached at both ends. The other end is in aquarium which is covered with Saran Wrap. I took small piece of air tubing and made a small vent like I saw in video. Is this correct? I have never been able to grow a carpet and I’m fairly new to this just started a year ago. Thank you.
Never heard of that method of dry start, good idea! The only thing that was keeping me from trying this is having to spray it every day. Question, I have the hardest time growing Monte Carlo, but I can grow hc just fine, I use ro water. Do you use tap water with that tank? I heard that Monte Carlo doesn’t like soft acidic water, is that true?
Two questions... could carpeting plants be grown dry start and then transferred to an already running tank? Are you running co2 because of the plants you chose or because of the dry start method?
meganC731 The co2 is needed after since with out water the plants have unlimited co2 in the air. Once water is introduced the co2 is gone thus the need to dose pressurized co2.
I need help! I’ve had foggy green water for about 4 months now and I’ve tried everything. From waterchanges, chemicals, restricted lighting and food, getting rid of fish, a uv sterilizer etc. Nothing has worked!!!! Any thoughts? I’m trying to use an air stone to get rid of co2 and a blackout but if this doesn’t work I’m getting rid of the tank.
BANCHEE don’t turn your lights on for like a week while running a GOOD uv sterilizer (not all are equal and make sure the bulb is on and not burnt out) do a water change every two days during this process I hope this Helps
H2O Plants I have mechanical filtration. The ug sterilizer I got is the AA aquariums 9w or something. It has good reviews and I followed the directions.
Not sure about the location of your tank, but if it is getting any amount of sunlight, which I imagine is allot based on what you are saying. With that, if you are going to keep the tank in the same location I would recommend maybe getting 1-2 freshwater clams. they will filter the green algae bloom you are experiencing and get ride of the problem. Search for some videos and you'll see what I mean. And if sunlight isn't the issue maybe it's the nutritional balance in the tank. I imagine the fish are fine, and it simply looks unsightly.
