Thanks so much for this video! I typically use Fireworks for my animated gifs but since it's being phased out with the release of CC I was lost on how to create them without Fireworks. It seems so much easier in Photoshop now that I know how to create them. Big props to you for explaining the basics!
James Mascarenhas Shut up about Bieber (name not worth mentioning)... did you see the news story about how he didn't remember visiting australia? he's literally... such a dumb fuck jc
Thank you sooooooo much for this!! I have a gif file project due soon, and our professor's advice was to get some whole new software and make it in there...while we only have a few days to submit the assignment. Your tutorial saved me from a giant learning curve, thanks so much!
Hello! Thank you for the tutorial it was really helpful. But I wanted to add one different image frame to the end, and when I added the other layer, it appeared in all of them. Is there a way to make seperate visiuals in same gif?
Besides "tweening' you can also change the frame time-sequences to make the ball move faster, suspend or move ultra slow. They are set in increments of 2 seconds max all the way down to 10ths of a second or half a second. This is nice for making flashing lights, lightning bolts ... basically anything
Im pretty sure I was doing it wrong but When I made a GIF for school, I made frames per layer, meaning each layer was a frame...This just made everything so much easier! thank you!
This is for all the people who are wondering why adding a different frame in the timeline changes all the other ones. First, don't forget that this tutorial isn't made for the recent versions of photoshop. So if you are in photoshop CC, in the layer tab at the right hand side of your screen, you're gonna need to take care of creating separate layers for each different frame in your timeline. Because you're now using multiple layers, make sure that you hide with the eye symbole the ones that you don't wanna see in you're frame. In other words, click a frame to select it and then choose the layers that should be visible for that frame. Then repeat the same process for the other frames and your problem should now be solved! :D
excellent vid! However, I can't seem to find a tutorial on how to make one of those trippy/neat 'infinite gif' animations; you know, the ones where it appears that the same photo emanates forever from inside another, and another etc? I feel you might be the guy to ask...
Thanks for the vid, wanted to ask how would you rotate the ball in each frame to make it look more realistic, like the ball is rotating while bouncing?
hi IRecordIn3D. thank you very much for your tutorial! i was looking for something slightlyl different to make with PS. i stumbled upon your video and ended up learning much more than what i came in for! that's great! thank you! :-)
Okay, for the past hour I've been trying to figure out why there is no timeline on my photoshop cc and you solved my problem in like 5 seconds! Thank you so so much!
Please help! Whenever I move my object from the new frame I made, the first frame or the previous frames go along with it. The transition only works if I change the opacity. :((( I can't make my objects move even if I select the desired frame that I want to edit.
Great Video. Everyone, I recommend in those save settings, 'GIF 128 No Dither' if you're doing a high quality advert. It means more colours. Lower number, e.g. 32 = fewer colours.
+buddyroach you have to change an effect only by changing opacity, position or size of elements in the layers. Adding or removing artworks is going to reflect in all the frames.
+buddyroach I did. I was facing the same problem. I was trying to make a gif where some text appears on a white background. so I created the first frame with white background (no text). then duplicated the first frame to create the second frame and added a text layer. I found that the text appeared on the first frame as well. So I started again, added the text layer in the first frame but had its opacity turned to 0%. In the second frame i turned the opacity of the text layer to 100%. worked fine. Added tween and I could see a smooth transition of text slowly fading in on the white background. In case this is not the issue you were facing then I am sorry I misunderstood you.
