Been ignoring these "automatic redstone farm" videos, but now I really need this tutorial because for some ungodly reason, Mojang decides that coal rarer than iron now.
@@GONGSHOW.0 I have, but recent update fucked me over, I legit have 4 stacks of 64 iron ingot and less than 40 coal. I really need alternative fuel source.
@darrelarno9151 have you heard about using a bucket of lava? 1 bucket will melt like a stack of stuff basically or around that, its pretty OP. You can easily make a infinite lava source making fuel free
I built this the first time you posted it. It is unbelievably fast, so i expanded the smokers to 16 as well as the kelp storage. So fast the hoppers can't keep up . Also added composters to produce bonemeal.
FOR ANYONE CONFUSED WITH XP PART OF FARM. I’ve been following this guy for years. Once you have had the farm running for awhile and a good amount of kelp has built up, you can turn the machine off. Let it smelt for a good while ( about 40 minutes to an hour ) then turn the levers on the furnaces to stop the hopper transfer. Collect the kelp as it smelts and voilà, infinite XP.
@@WynonBryce there are glitches that still work for 1.21 which would be dupe glitches. Your best bet for infinite xp Is duping bottle o enchanting. Other than that, I haven’t found any that still work.
Still working on PS5 realm server. But it’s super sensitive about how far away you can go before it stops working. If it stops working, you need to replace the 8 pieces of sand that de-spawned. 4 sand blocks touching the sticky part of the pistons and 4 sand blocks on top of the sticky pistons’ extended arms. Super easy to fix by just jumping in the water from the top. 1:46
When you leave render distance with it turned on the sand falls through the moving pistons just a heads up that’s what breaks it. Just make sure you turn it off when you leave
Could i ask you about the particulars please, So i guess youll have to attach a hopper to the collecting chest and connect that hopper to another hopper which emptied dried kelp into the composter, or do you somehow autocraft kelp blocks?
Oh no no, I just changed out the smokers for composters to save me time and made the kelp chest a single chest instead of a double chest, it works just as fast

i am in my new world and actually have slimes finally. so now i will try to build this farm since i have access to sticky pistons. thank you for the build.
Mine is not working in survival. Did it in creative and works amazingly but can’t get it to work in survival even within the chunk. I’ve moved it multiple times
I followed the tutorial to the letter but built it on the chunk border. My mistake. Rebuilt it one block back and it working. Awesome!! One block makes a difference!!
Bro I built this thing with composters instead of furnaces to be a bonemeal farm, and i needed to increase from 4 to 8 composters just to keep the collection system from backing up with kelp. I got over half a stack of bone BLOCKS in just 10 minutes.😂
Yo guys for those who also what a bone meal farm you can put another hopper under the chest with the cooked kelp put a composter under that then another hopper under that and then a chest so you can get XP food bone meal and smelting supplies for life and if you want you can put a lever next to the hopper that is taking the cooked kelp from the first chest so you can grab the kelp to make kelp blocks
With the help of ur tutorial and silentwhisper's i just finished a gold farm design that burns all rotten flesh, smelts all golden items zombified piglins drop, and uses crafters to turn everything into ingots
@armysquirrel6451 yoy don't break it You flip the lever so it stops feeding items and take out the dried kelp that is there, which gives you a big wodge of XP that has been stored by the smelter. Then you just flip the lever again and the rest will drain out as normal, building up more XP.
You can also power the hoppers beneath the smokers to lock them which can be done with a single lever and line of redstone dust. Neato thing about smokers, if you dont have a leaver on its front it will show you how much exp it is storing with a little battery animation. When it's fully green it holds the most exp and can be continuously gotten from till that battery animation on its face depletes to empty and red.
@@ashiqahamed7740 it takes quite a few stacks of stuff being cooked through the smoker with it all taken out via hopper before it will turn green, and each thing that you can cook grants a different amount of exp. For the fastest full green battery build a huge cow/chicken/pig/sheep breeding & slaughter mill and cook meats through it, i think beef gives the highest exp of anything else. With kelp or potatoes itll take 3-4× as many stacks before the battery is green and filled. I dont have exact numbers for you, but if kelp is whatchur cooking you'll be looking at at least several double chests full before it happens. Beef itll take a little bit over a single full double chest. The battery indicates the amount of exp the smoker is storing, and it stores quite alot, but only if the product is taken out via hopper line/storage system, if its taken out by you whatever exp is stored is also taken out by you. A couple years ago there was a bug that any exp stored remained in any furnace variant and duped when you oulled things, so once anything cooked you could infinitely collect maximum exp pulls from any smoker or furnace, but they fixed that sadly, but if you take the time to let a few smokers get fully filled with exp stored by watching the battery indicators, you still get massive draws of exp, its not all drawn at once, just a bit per 1 item pulled. So when you do wanna collect the exp just take 1 item from each smoker at a time and if the smoker is fully filled of exp in only 8-12 items pulled you'll have gone from 0-50 (or fully mended all your gear)
It was working perfectly but all of a sudden the sand disappeared and it never worked again, even replacing the sand and the kelp. The kelp always disappear as soon as the mechanism starts. Can somebody help me?
i was having the same problem, i realized that i was only replacing the four sand that the kelp were on top of, but you have to replace the ones in front of the sticky pistons too and it should work again
Mine just randomly broke, all redstone & blocks are in place, it moves the pistons but for some reason it is removing the water each time & when I turn it off, the water is back in place? it worked for weeks & suddenly stopped. Tried redoing the water but it's still all janky
@@Yoda-177 I wish I was. I’m just desperate to make this and no matter how many times I build it and follow it exactly it doesn’t work. I’ve tried other variants by other RU-vidrs and they also didn’t work.
@@MrSmeggysmeg i used jc playz farm(same concept tho) try that one and chunk align it. Edit: I did the one that was posted 1 year ago with only 2 chests
Let the farm autosmelt for a good hour before you flick the levers on the furnaces. Then start collecting the dried kelp as it smelts and you’ll start gaining a bunch of xp per piece
Flip the lever and collect the kelp from the smoker, the xp builds up I the smoker from all the kelp being smelted, once you’ve collected it be sure to flip the lever back
I did this and had it working great for a time but all the sudden I can get it to work and the kelp keep being destroyed off the source block. Was there an update or something that stopped this?
The smokers store xp. All yoy need to do to collect xp is take a dried kelp out of the smoker before it moves to the hoppers when you're ready to collect
check if the farm is within the chunk borders. there is a chance there was some miscalculations and maybe the farm broke the boundary. hope this helps!
Highly doubt chunk borders are the reason for this. I built mine for sure inside a chunk border and it does this still. It's something to do with the piston. Whenever a kelp breaks for me the piston usually is glitching. Like whenever the piston goes in and out it should be water logged but when it glitches you can see the piston when its fully extended outwards. This is how I tell if I gotta replant a kelp. Also gotta shut the farm off so it resets the pistons.
@@Ariston- most definitely I have an area specifically dedicated to farms that's getting quite full not really like laggy too much but some things like the kelp farm does get laggy and sometimes my honey farm does some weird things but that's about it. I'm planning on going at least 6 chunks away and making another farm dedicated area. I planned ahead for this and used a nether highway to get back and forth.
ive been letting the machine run for a good while until the chest storage has almost full unsmelted kelp in it. i then turn the machine off and let the kelp smelt for a while but when i go to turn the levers off, i grab the kelp out of all the smokers and i don’t get even half a level. i’m only level 20 odd so i’m wondering if anyone knows why i don’t get any xp? i’m on bedrock.
Just go and build the xp farm I mainly prefer guardian xp farm it gives tons of xpi have built the older version of of that of silentwhisperer and it gives ton of xp and yeah i play on mobile with 4gb ram..
it depends on what the issue is... usually its just the sand falling through the piston arm down below, otherwise it may be a kelp piece that went missing... id just enter the farm via the trapdoors after removing the water and fix the sand, kelp can just be replaced after stopping the machine These are the two issues ive faced so far with the farm... hope it helps
Built it in creative bc im dumb and knew id need to fiddle with the redstone a bit. I placed the torches wrong but after i realized and fixed it, this thing worked amazingly. Having trapdoor sounds by my house might be eh but the xp and kelp are gonna be amazing in my survival world
Place a lever on the front of the furnace. Flipping it down will lock the furnace from moving blocks in or out of it. When you want XP, just flip it down and wait for a cooked item to collect, then collect that item to get any XP stored in the furnace. Flip the lever back up to get things moving again.
I'm not collecting any experience, with the levers on the smokers on or off. What am I doing wrong? I've triple checked the build. It's working great as far as fuel goes.
You cant leave the chunk without turning it off. If you leave it end its not rendered it will break. He says that. If it breaks after some time, them probably due to a recent update.
Trying to make this, i finished it but now every time I turn it in, it breaks all the sand in the system. I have it built the same way, and i believe its within a border. Is there anything im doing wrong here?
Ok fixed the sand breaking issue, but now the water disappears when i turn it on, preventing the kelp from zero ticking. I redid the farm and followed this step by step. Any possible fix?
It is working for me for the most part the only problem im having is the kelp keep breaking. Just the kelp. I think it has to do with the water being blocked. Anyone know how to fix?
Ok ok so I just built mine BUT it only produces 1 or 2 pieces of kelp right when I click the lever. Afterwards, the pistons move and everything but no more kelp is produced. IF I continuously flick the lever on and off (like nonstop), it works though. And help with this?
Doesnt really work, kelp grow much slower than shown in the vid and I have to have a block under the sand as well. And yes its in chunk, followed the vid exactly disappointing and not worth the effort, EDIT; When testing the same as 3:50 ish the sand just falls straight through, dont bother....
