EASIEST Meatball Sub | Ground Turkey | Slow Cooker

Welcome to my kitchen! Today, I'm making a delicious and easy meatball sub using ground turkey, all cooked in the slow cooker. This sub is loaded with flavor, featuring homemade turkey meatballs, savory tomato sauce, and melted cheese, all on a hot dog bun. To make it a complete meal, I paired it with steamed broccoli seasoned with vegetable bouillon. Perfect for a quick, cost-effective, and satisfying meal for one. Ingredients (Serves 1)
*Meatballs:*
- 1/4 lb ground turkey
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/8 tsp turmeric
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp Accent (optional)
- 1 small egg, beaten
- 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
*Slow Cooker Sauce:*
- 1 cup canned tomato sauce
*Broccoli:*
- 1 cup frozen broccoli
- 1/4 cup water
-1 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp vegetable bouillon
*Sub:*
- 1 hot dog bun
- 1 slice provolone cheese
- 2-3 meatballs (from the above mixture)
- 2 tbsp tomato sauce (from the slow cooker)
- 2 tbsp shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
*Meatballs:*
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, Italian seasoning, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, turmeric, black pepper, Accent (if using), beaten egg, smoked paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
2. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1-2 inches in diameter.
3. Place the meatballs in the slow cooker and pour the tomato sauce over them.
4. Cook on low for 4-5 hours or until the meatballs are fully cooked.
*Broccoli:*
1. In a small pot, add the frozen broccoli, water, salt, pepper, butter and vegetable bouillon.
2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender.
*Sub:*
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Slice the hot dog bun open and place a slice of provolone cheese inside.
3. Add 2-3 meatballs on top of the cheese.
4. Spoon tomato sauce over the meatballs and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
5. Place the sub on a baking sheet and bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

@504belle it looked like it was too. The meatballs looked so tender. Hope to get around to making this myself real soon. How long did they simmer in the slow cooker though? 🤔

@@angelalynn9393 I allowed them to go for 4 hours on low . However , you can also do 2-3 hours on high .
