I had a co-worker whose mother passed away. She then told all of us she was going to have a garage sale and she was going to let all of us get first choice to come to the garage sale. Her mother was a quilter. Had stacks and stacks of quilting magazines. Some were dated 1971, QuiltersNewletter magazine.. my biggest surprise was when she said I could have them for a nickles a piece. OMG I thought I'd gone to heaven with him. I felt like " this fell into the right hands", I love the art o quilting. And I think her mother appreciated this. Her magazines went to someone who holds on to dear life for something they truly love. Ti this day I have a smile on my face

This looks fairly easy and so it looks like I'm finally going to be able to do my first quilt. Am just curious about the reverse side. So do I have to use a separate cloth for the back or will this do? The question might sound silly but I really have not yet embarked on any quilt projects before that's why I'm wondering. Thank you so much for sharing.

To to let you know: those ads that everyone is complaining about paid for the production of the episode. Nobody does it for free. Not even Missouri Star. You can skip to the part you want by holding down the button. Mary has a heart for the beginner, lots of teachers would step away because we are whiney and needy. She didn't. The best part about RU-vid is you can go on and take what you need. And for those that don't know, Quilty is now all reruns. You can complain, but maybe we should all be thankful someone is willing to try and teach us for free. My two cents....

The "ads" are the sponsors. She is using their supplies so she needs to give them a mention. These girls (Mary and mom) have a quilting empire with tons of great tools, supplies, patterns, etc. Their things are expensive too but very useful. They do videos for free to sell their and their sponsors goods, not to teach a class. These vids used to be tv shows so maybe they just didnt change them up for internet. Imo, most presenters on you tube just come on and blather, I dont think they have a clue about trying to be professional. Dont worry, eventually they will wash out. I do have one Of Fons and Porter's easy quilt magazines and it is outstanding. It was my first attempts at quilting and I made coasters, mug rugs, table runners and wall hangings out of that one mag. But then I'm a visual learner, a picture might be worth a thousand words but I'd rather have info spelled out. Good luck to everyone and remember it is all about having fun, so play.

Allow me to help you clarify with 2 industry terms that you can use in your explanations, dear girl: "Ironing" is strroking the fabric with your hot appliance or wiggling the iron in a small area - which can stretch or distort some fabrics, btw, and "Pressing" which is exactly that - putting your hot appliance down and pressing in place, not moving it across the fabric.
