Great tip. It’s good to hear practical advice. Too often other self proclaimed experts want to go into too much detail. This is good solid advice, and gives the newer photogs a starting point. 👍🏼

No need for the magsphere. The flash bounced of that white ceiling. Tip to even better lighting, take the magsphere off and direct your flash 45 degrees to a wall, and get nice side softbox lighting going on.

Yes. It’s much faster than TTL. Also if you shoot in manual you know exactly what your photos are going to look like. Rather than the flash being different everytime. Also in my opinion if you put too much flash power it kills the natural light of the room which removes the feel of a reception.

I am so grateful that my friend that asked me to shoot her wedding, my first ever, was super understanding, because I could not for the life of me figure out why my Godox only worked half the time. It was pretty dark, so maybe that was the reason, or maybe I shouldn’t have had my flash pointed up toward the ceiling the whole time; but the ceilings were relatively low. Do you have a crash course on how this thing works?? 😅 Because I bought your exact setup; and the photos I got where it was working were awesome, but the ones where it wasn’t were super dark 😬

@themoody1337 Год назад
Oh, I just saw someone else asked the same question. I would still be interessted in the technical aspect of it though :)
@jbivphotography
@jbivphotography Год назад
There's kind of 2 reasons. The first is that higher ISO will pick up more of the ambiance of the room. I've NEVER been do a reception in a pitch black room so there will be some light there. Also, because from what I've seen with newer photographers the whole mentality of "always shoot ISO 100 because it's the best quality" usually hurts newer photographers. Your camera has tools that can be used, and sometimes the best option isn't always "the best quality". Also, now a days cameras do REALLY well with ISO so something like 800-1000 isn't really going to hurt your image quality if you have a decent camera.

@@artsmodelstation9396 that’s correct. If I’m really far from my subject I’ll have to turn up my flash power.
