Our local British Pantry has so many orders for sausage rolls and beef pies this year that any additional orders cannot be filled by Christmas Eve. I am going to attempt to make sausage rolls for my Australian Mum and sausage-roll-crazy family. I helped to make these along with potato and meat pies when I was small so it's been a while. Thanks so much for this video, with it, I just might pull this off.
That's such a sweet plan. I'm sure your family will savor every bite of your homemade sausage rolls. Can't wait to hear how they turned out for you. Best wishes and happy holidays!
I have never seen bacon a sausage roll. OR is it in them and I don't know?? I am going to check the ingredients in the future (I am talking about the frozen ones at the supermarket). I remember in high school my friends always got a sausage roll from the tuckshop (canteen). Love the pastry flaking all over your school uniform haha. Yours look delish!
It's a staple in Australia and New Zealand, but I think the sausage roll is English? Australia food, Lamington dessert. In New Zealand.. pavlova. We both share Savoury Mince pie, Burgers with sliced beetroot and a fried egg.
Thank you for your comment! While sausage rolls and pork pies are indeed popular in British cuisine, they are also enjoyed in Australia as well. Both countries have their own unique culinary traditions, and it's wonderful to appreciate and enjoy the diversity of food from different cultures. Cheers!
Seriously could u get any more childish who care who made the very first sausage roll this is the Australian way of making it that’s all it meant grow up and show more love to others.
Hi @craighebert4665, Yes! while rolling the dough, you can insert a small block of cheese inside the meat, leaving enough space for cutting so that the cheese ends up in the center when baked. This way, when you bite into it, you'll experience a delightful burst of cheesy goodness! ☺
Hi @Mav_F, Please feel free to share any suggestion on how to make it better. Always open to learning 😊. It will surely help others as well. Thank you!
Thank you for your question! While both Australian and British sausage rolls may share some similarities in terms of their main ingredients (such as sausage meat wrapped in pastry), there may be some subtle differences in terms of seasoning, spices, and even the type of pastry used. Culinary traditions can vary across different regions and countries, resulting in unique flavors and textures. Exploring and appreciating these nuances can be a delightful culinary adventure! Cheers! 😀
Thank you for sharing your opinion! Food preferences can vary greatly from person to person, and it's perfectly okay to have different tastes. Sausage rolls can come in many different variations, and it's always interesting to try out different recipes to find the one that suits your liking. Appreciating culinary diversity is what makes food culture so rich and fascinating. Wishing you enjoyable culinary adventures!
