Very helpful video. I had to remove seats from a Transit that had a cargo wall right behind the seats. The zip tie/ screw drive technique solved the problem, even while having to do it from the front of the seats. Thanks!!

Hey guys, just wanted to say thank you. The use of cable ties to remove the seats worked perfectly. We had an extra loose strap in the glove compartment which I then reinstalled to one of the rear seats, the other one is still gone (Previous owners lost it I guess), have to first get the seat up to reinstall the strap. Good tip on the cable ties for the belts as well and I already have that done. Just need to run to the store for a 55 Torx bit and I can remove the other two seats in the back and we'll have the cargo room that we need. Again, much appreciated. I'll give you a big thumbs up. Good luck on your adventures.

Great video. I removed the fourth row from my Transit years ago, but found this video when looking for help with something else. Entirely frustrating that it's so difficult to remove seats, especially the fourth row single seats due to seatbelts. Regarding the third row seats, there's typically a cover over that "wall bolt". It's not entirely intuitive on how to remove it and there is risk of damage, of course. Since I removed my fourth row with no intention of putting it back in until the vehicle is sold, I actually slid black laminate (2 plies) behind the sidewall to close out the gaping hole created by removing the seat belt retractor. I didn't want to put the massive closeout back in place because they just get in the way during loading/unloading. Maybe there's a flat closeout you can purchase from Ford since, I'm anticipating, they use the same interior sidewall panels for a 12 passenger configuration of the long wheelbase van? When removed, you still have to deal with the lugs that are above the flooring, making it difficult to just slide materials in the van without risk of damage to the material (thanks, Ford).

Ok at 03:35. Screwdrivers are lodged in place, hubby is at the ready and She says 'the 2nd row is the heaviest, you may want to get help with this bxxch'. I'm like YeeHaw speak the truth! I've been cleaning out my house and painting and am all yucky, she was talking to me! (62yr old woman) ....but she does say 'bench'. You may want to get help. with this bench'. Time for a glass of wine. And then a shower.

One thing to watch for. On some of those transit vans the rear brakes go out prematurely. We get some at the shop less than 20k miles on them and the rear brakes went out and some the calipers destroyed themselves. I think its somewhere like the 17-19 model years but I think they fixed it in the 2020 model year.
@SL_BA
@SL_BA 3 года назад
Thanks for the heads up. We bought Big Tow from a fleet dealer, and it already had right at 100,000 miles on it. Hopefully it will hold up for a while for us. We will pay a little more attention if the rear brakes start to act up :)

I’m new to this - just picked up our 2017 long wheelbase wagon and removed the seats. I noticed it looks like you have a factory vinyl floor in a wagon model which I thought was interesting. Was that a standard option? I’d definitely purchase that from the dealer to replace this carpet but keep the vent and seat location cutouts.

@SL_BA
@SL_BA 2 месяца назад
So sorry to be this late! I have been out exploring in Missouri, and my TMobile service was pretty much non-existent :D This build was so much fun for us. We listed the seats on FB marketplace and they sat there for a long time. I can't remember our original asking price, but it wasn't totally unreasonable. These seats were in really good condition. But we eventually sold them for $250 to a couple changing a campervan back to a passenger van. Lol We both got tired of looking at them stored on our porch. Good luck with your build, and getting rid of your seats :D

You may not have the answer to this, but this is the van I am looking to buy and I was wondering if you could take that (3) seat row out (behind driver) and replace it with one of the double seats you pulled out from somewhere else? I have kids and need seats left in but don't want that long 3 seat bench as it just takes space.

Hello Janis! Thanks for joining us :) We stored the seats at our house after we removed them. They sat on FB marketplace long enough that I had given up on them selling. They were in perfect condition. A buyer finally found us and we let them go for $300. Worth more? Probably. But getting them sold and out of my way was worth more to us. I am wishing you better luck at selling yours quicker than we did :)

@SL_BA
@SL_BA 4 года назад
Hello, new friend! Scotty and I both still work full time jobs. We started getting serious about retirement about 10 years ago. Living a more simple life and saving money where we could. You will see, our conversion is going to be simple, but functional. We have only bought 2x4s, 4x4s, and plywood for the platform bed so far. That was a quick trip to Home Depot because it is all we have in our hometown :) But yesterday we had a friend tell us about an RV 'graveyard' in a town close by. Kind of a pick and pull parts deal for RVs or conversions. So we are excited to go see what treasures we can get there. We will keep you updated :)
