it worked for me. i saw all kinds of other you tube videos and tried some none worked this did thank you very much. I like to keep minimal water in one so I can rotate to the other often so much dust gets in them up here in NW Texas. Now I can go back to that because of you.

Only problem is that it says directly on the can that it's not drinking water safe.

Good to know, 'cos I need to repair a tank that's used for live animals, i.e. aquatic turtles and/or koi.

Thanks for Sharing Brandi! I have had mix results with different cans. I find that sometimes one spray can will work great and then the next one won't. Maybe it is not mixing correctly. I do find that the Paint is much more consistent and works alot better for putting on a thick coat. I have actually used this to re-seal the top of our camper trailer, and it worked great!

A good friend just told me today to try J-B Weld. He said he had really good results with it

@@brandiisbell7746 Yes we actually had an old stock tank that had a big structural crack in it at my neighbors that we mixed up a big batch of JB weld and slathered on there.. It worked great and held up nicely. I think the Flex seal just works nice for smaller cracks and things that are not structural. People typically just find a leak and end up throwing away a perfectly good stock tank without trying to do an easy fix like this!

@@RoppFamilyFarm I use 300 gallon rubbermaids stock troughs for my fish in my Gardens with fountains. I sync them into the ground. I have two but I want one more. A local Rancher just told me I can have one of his accounts stepped in and broke. I intend to get it this coming week and I am going to use JB waterweld inside and out. It's been such a lifesaver for me. Thanks for your quick response

those rubbermaid stock tanks are prone to cracking. get one of the tuff stuff ones instead. they are less likely to crack.

I cleaned my tank gave it 3 Coates of flexseal letting it dry 24 hours between applications. Filled it 2 days after final spray. And it started leaking within an hour. It got progressively worse. Had to shut down thought it would burst. Mine is a 2 year old 100 gal. Rubber Made stock tank. How long did yours last?

That’s a bummer! Mine is still going. But I had smaller cracks. If you have some bigger cracks, JB Weld will do the job.

@@RoppFamilyFarm I'm considering marine epoxy or Permatex. It seems that these are stress cracks. A design flaw. Mine, yours and the ones I have seen on other videos are in the same area on the bottom center

I have tried two of the generic brands of flex seal and neither have worked. Have u tried anything other than flex seal or does the brand name the only thing that works??
@RoppFamilyFarm
@RoppFamilyFarm 2 года назад
Hey Candice great question. Personally I have only used the flex seal brand. Did you use the spray or the paint versions of the others? I know that sometimes depending on the area, the paint may work better at creating a good seal. You can also always use JB Weld if you have a big Crack as i have doe that as well when I had a bigger crack that would not seal very well. Hope that helps!

I notice you have a Rubbermaid float valve on each tank but neither was hooked up in the video. Are they working or not and not worth the money to install? I need to replace some on my tanks too.
@RoppFamilyFarm
@RoppFamilyFarm 2 года назад
Great Question! So I used to like those valves but the cattle will tend to rub on them and the plastic threads on the valve that the hose screws into, tend to strip out and not hold the hose very well. So I have actually switched to using these valves (see link below) that you install in the bung in the bottom and have a float. They work soo much better and the threads are heavy duty pipe threads that you will need to put an adapter on to go to a hose, but they work soo much better! I have had them in for about 16 months now and have had no issues. www.coastalcountry.com/search-page?q=XtraFlo
@geomundi8333
@geomundi8333 2 года назад
I love these float valve but like he said you have to be careful about how you place them; I place them with back to electric fence so they can't get near the hose and hookup; or they will knock it away.

I have the exact same issue with exact same trough and float valve. They need to make plastic less susceptible to cracking; because I have two troughs with this issue; fixing both today. Hope flex seal holds up under all that pressure. Are you in Illinois? there are probably lots of Ropp, we have cattle farm around here by that name.
