@Josh Lundquist I've actually already made this tutorial! You can find it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0ltfUCHwevY.html Hope it is helpful to you! It doesn't have the absolute full functionality of exponential height fog, but it's a great solution for adding volume to your path traced scene!
When I try to render in pathtracing my GPU constantly crashes. But if I go in pathtracepreview mode ... there are no problems? I am really thinking of rendering each frame in preview mode and then exporting a screenshot... I know this is stupid but I have no other way to do it. Because in the renderqueue my gpu says no to things which work in the normal editor
Thanks! Tell us how you added fog, because this is a big problem when working not only with path tracing but also rtx in general, for example, in the fifth version of the engine.
Hello Thanks for your tutorials! I have a problem with this. I am using Path Tracer in the Movie render Queue settings. When I finish rendering a video file I go to the output folder and there is nothing. What will I be doing wrong? Greetings!
Hello, make sure you've set a codec for your render (.mov, .exr, .png, etc). You have to add one from the menu in the upper left corner of the render queue. That is the most likely explanation, but if you've done that and it's still not working, let me know. Thanks for watching and hope this is helpful!
Hey, thank you for this very interesting tutorila. I would like to ask you if path tracing render makes sense to me if I don't have an RTX card in my PC and therefore can't use ray tracing? Thank you very much. K
Unfortunately I don't believe this will work for you, as you have to have Ray tracing enabled in your unreal project in order to use path tracing. Thank you for watching!
I don't know of a way to render path tracing from the sequencer, so you will have to use the Movie Render Queue to set up your sequence to render the path tracer. So make sure you have all the settings for your render the way I have them set up at 7:17. If that doesn't work, it could be an issue in your project settings. Hope that is helpful!
Hi Sam this is a great tutorial. Are these settings also to create a realistic environment for a game or there are other settings? I'm trying to create a realistic desert. Tia
Hi and thanks for watching! These settings are not ideal for a game environment because you won't be able to get it to properly render in real-time. What I would recommend is using these settings to compare your in-game lighting with. So set your scene to path-tracing, observe how the lighting looks, then set the lighting back to the normal "lit" mode and try to get the lighting in your scene to match the path-traced lighting as closely as possible. Unfortunately, there is not a real-time indirect/reactive lighting solution in Unreal Engine, unless you use UE5 which is in beta. UE5 has a tool called Lumen, which does essentially the same thing as path tracing, giving you indirect and reactive lighting in real-time. I will gladly make a tutorial on Lumen if that would be helpful!
Hello... Running UE4.27. Went to the "Lit" menu, but found no "pathtracing" option. I did check on raytracing, and selected DirectX 12 as the default RHI. And yes, I restarted. Maybe my older graphics cards are the problem? I have two, a GeForce GT 740 and a GeForce GTX Titan X. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!
I love the content that you create😊😊 ,one thing to change is to buy an Autocue to read from it because reading from a paper📄 or laptop is more distracted for people ^_^
