Today I show you how I have installed many non-spring or phaser limiter required cams in every 3V I’ve done. #MakeItModular Http://www.make-it-modular.com
Awesome video! I told people about your Fusion for years haha! I wish Ford would make a cool V8 sedan but these car companies aren't what they used to be. I'm very meticulous about my car and it's good to see someone else taking their time and doing it the right way.
I've listened to several videos of 3-valves with these Detroit Rocker cams and almost regret going with my Comp Cam Stage 2 XFI NSR 127200 cams that were designed for higher peak hp and forced induction. The Detroit Rockers definitely have more chop and sound better. I own a mint condition, low mileage 2006 that I've owned since brand new with Kenne Bell 2.6L blower and my Comp Cams added 34.25bhp and 29.44tq. I've added way too many mods to include here, but I've dyno'd at 500rwhp / 453.45 rwtq, (max recommended tq on a stock 3V motor) and that's plenty of power for me. I can barely keep the power to the ground as it is even with 305/40-18 NT555RII drag radials in the rear. Thanks for the video.
This is a lot easier job than I thought. I was honestly kind of terrified taking it on. I had never worked on any ohc cars just old pushrod motors (good old windsor) but using this same method I had it done in about 2 hours. Only thing I did different is I took off the intake manifold but that was mostly because I was putting on the ford racing intake manifold. Also do longtubes at the same time. The car was a completely different machine when I was done. Threw a 150 shot on it now 3 years later and 200lbs of nitrous she’s still kicking. I bought a 2019 10 speed pp1 gt last year. Plan on giving the 3v to my son when he turns 16. But we still got 4 years till then
Thanks for the mustang content man. If you have time to answer a question I’d appreciate it. I have an 09 3 valve fuel Ltft are high. +10 to +14 no vacuum leak checked and replaced intake and hoses around the intake. Am I missing something?
Holy crap, there some mean spirited, obviously abused children out there... Whatever happened to just moving on, rather than talking smack.. Dude, I enjoy the content, and no, I don't own any of these cars or motors, except for my 2003 F150 4.6. Though I'd be proud to own either of the 3v mod stangs. So it's not a Coyote or a Windsor built to within an cubic inch of it's life... Still good looking, and decent performing rides.. Thanks 🙏 for sharing.. ☺️
They're driving around in their cars that mommy and daddy bought them. What do you expect? Just wait and laugh when they drive it into a crowd on the side of the road.
Did same thing with my 08 GT, only issue Iv had is the Howard rattler cams I got are just shy of a 1/3 of a inch shorter than stock cams. Cam sits fine just the phaser is pulling timing chain close to the firewall of the engine, I have maybe 2/10s of a inch clearance compared to almost a half inch with the stock cams..
@@EastDallasKicks From what I understand this kit was designed in conjunction with Ford to be as "factory like" as possible. That said its an Eaton blower which isn't known for making the most power. Its very stockish, even at 500hp its not a monster. It just feels like a much bigger V8. Personally if I were going to boost a 5.4 Id go with the largest whipple I could fit. They make their power down low, but the rods can only take about 500 before they bend. Im on the limit. A good tune is the saving grace.
I have a preloaded remote tune from sctflash was thinking about getting my 08 gt some ford hot rod cams, would u recommend the Detroit rocker cams with this tune or should I go somewhere and get it professionally tuned after changing the cams myself?
if i`m there i might as well do as much as possible for preventive measure, yes you could save more money that way,but i wouldnt take the chance of having to back in there myself when i was in there the first time.
How would I get the cams in a somewhat neutral position to where there isn’t much pressure on the valves? Would I just have to turn the engine over until the pin in the phaser is on the bottom? I saw FOUREYES video and he turned the engine until the phasers top dead center mark “L” was in a perpendicular plane with the head. So a roughly 2 o clock position. Or just visuallly look and see until most of the lobes aren’t touching the rocker arms.
@@brandonyass9631get the cams and a tuner, if you run no tune you run the potential of running really rough or destroying the engine when you change something like cams.
Why does the timing gear say" L" on it when it's on the Right side of the motor??? Mine has an " R " on the right side of the motor ( passenger side ) and " L " on the left..
If i install myself. Your saying i can't drive to the place to get it tuned after im done installing. Would like to do it myself and take to get tuned.
I don't have a laptop computer or planning on getting one. Wouldn't I need that also besides a remote tuner to do data logs to send him. But thanks for the reply.
@@MattSoppaI saw something that said A high-lift cam is going to put a lot more stress on valvetrain components like springs, rocker arms, pushrods, lifters, and even camshaft lobes. If not kept in check, monitored, and maintained regularly, this stress can cause catastrophic engine failures.
I'd imagine there should be a "neutral rest position" for the cams to where they aren't pushing down the valve springs. But who am I kidding? I'm not camming my 3V... I'm coyote swapping it...
i still can't understand why you or anybody else would put up with that bullshit just for the noise. at least be smart enough to figure out on how to lower the damn idle might sound better if that is all you really want. to let you all know that's why EFI sucks ass.
@@StayHydrated-wd5ic I deadass cnc ported the heads, did some massive cams (for a 3v), and did long tubes, and the fucker make 347 rwhp, so I took that out and am now godzilla swapping that same car
