This is on point, I started learning to program at 16 and I'm 21 now and making over $20k a month from the same hustle that I started at 16 just by scaling and improving over time. The best way to do it is instead of using your skill to work for somebody, find a way to create your own product or service to sell on your own. That way only sky is the limit for how much money you can earn 😉
Congrats! Is it feasible or worthwhile for someone with only a spare 15 hours a week to pursue if their understanding of programming is zero? Or would this be more of a career decision versus start from scratch side hustle?
@@joshuathinkingoutloud I think it’s worth a try and if you find yourself enjoying coding and develop a passion for it then you can surely achieve great things. It takes a lot of commitment and it’s a pretty steep learning cruve which never ends. What I do is develop and sell cheats for video games (see my channel) so when I started I had a really specific goal, I was doing it purely for for fun and for myself and nothing could stop me LOL. Realizing people wanted to buy my project came by accident as I showed it off and it was just a nice bonus which I realized I can turn into a fun hustle which somehow turned into a full blown business career which is crazy!
@@animalover1 1-3hr usually. It’s mostly just passive income, but sometimes I spend more time on updates and improvements and sometimes I add new stuff to the project which can take upwards of a dozen hours and more

I recommend going into analysis ideally if you have a passion for it of course there a few free courses available online. But I would target Excel intermediate to advance , Python , R (optional) , SQL and Tableu and possibly a GSI mapping program. Starting salary as a outside IR35 contractor would be around £300 per day generally speaking on a 6 months contract as a junior analyst. But within I would say 2-3 years you could be on £500 plus a day on a years contract for a project . If you’re lucky myself you can go through limited company which means you a small about of tax compared to PAYE perm staff so you’d retain something like 75-81 % of your salary.

@@jw200 I can only speak on my experience I didn’t need that much experience in fact I didn’t have any tbh I started in another role as a researcher with a government body then had abit of analysing to the job but I learnt it on the job aswell as doing some courses as mentioned above. It really depends on the industry you looking to go into . (Found jr roles on indeed, total jobs, LinkedIn, Reed, hays recruitment )

Agreed, an Agency is the way to go. I used to freelance and recently launched my Agency- Trident Labs. Things have improved and i just hire people now. We do Shopify and SEO so i think more people should consider Ecommerce when freelancing
It is also a good idea to get someone who already has the skills in the niche that you need and pay them instead while you do all the sales call. Saves you a lot of time and usually doesn't come at a massive price if your contractor is from a country where 500 dollars (per client) is life changing money. It's called contractor arbitrage if anyone wants to do more research for themselves

hey oliur, what are your thoughts on investing in yourself (if you're a content creator) vs helping others grow their business, especially if it's service-based and time consuming like video editing.
Not oliur, but why not do both? Treat yourself like your first client, you’ll learn a lot about what skills you need to develop for client work but also develop as an independent creator. Also, personal projects and freelance/ agency work will help you improve in tandem; I think you’ll find it incredibly beneficial to learn on your own in conjunction with working with clients who will give you more critical feedback. Good luck!
@@JoyceKao Working on your own personal projects and taking on client works is very time consuming. My advice would be to focus more on your personal project, and maybe handle very few client jobs each month, because you'll need the money to stay afloat in the early days of your personal projects. Video editing is not easy, it takes both mental and physical strength. Also, you could work on your projects and sell some of your videos as templates on marketplaces that does that, doing it this way would drastically reduce the pressure on you. You're just stating the obvious. Like everyone who studied and went to college does that. Student choose which program to enroll, get better at it and graduate. However, one of the most difficult part is finding the right niche to focus on at the right time. if you choose the wrong skill set and market to focus on especially in a saturated market, simply being good will not be enough. You need to be the best but it is difficult to be the best and earn enough adequate to your skills and effort. A scarcity of skilled workers, creates high demand which results high salary with less effort.
