No seriously! Just moved into this house this winter and the lawn has more moss, weeds, and debris than grass. 😮💨 I really wanted give weeding my best shot, didn’t want to just cut it all and lose sight of the different plants but it’s growing… like weeds. Cuz it’s just a diverse forest of weeds. I’m surprised there’s even grass still. But I’m literally getting dressed to head out there right now. 🏃🏽♀️
@@briannamartinez8280 Update??? Did the rake method work for you? As far as the moss what did you do about that? Is it a permanent fix? I have a couple areas moss - I usually use hoe then put top soil on spot but seems like each year I get a bit more, dont want it to get out of control. Also mint from someone's herb garden pops up IN my grass every side of the house. Sick of hand pulling it but no other way for mint to get roots out..
Really good advice if the soil is like yours - I'm literally jealous. I WISH my soil/weed combination worked like that - lol. My clay-heavy Michigan soil would laugh at that rake action and leaving the pulled weeds to "compost in place" would create a growth explosion of biblical proportions - lol. It's amazing how well weeds can grow in soil that nothing else will grow in around here. Even my stirrup rake struggles to make a difference. The struggle is real folks - lol. Keep fighting the good fight.
Where do u live? I will invest in weed puller my hands r raw after 2 years of pulling weeds we have grass now its amazing! Idk y i never got weed puller Duhh,im so hard headed but ive made a difference & ur right the struggle is real but im coming out on top instead of the weeds!! Almst done w/ back yeard.. im soo proud i did this sh/:! Me & ne alone! I wish i could should u pic im not one to brag Lol!!
One needs a good rake just like yours. Heavy ish, short prongs, all metal. Not a flimsy thing. I weed parts of my garden just like this. It does work well.
Always enjoy Rain And after that Enjoy pulling weeds They are so easy to pull after a good rain . After that Put hand full of grass seeds mixed in soil in those weeds pulled holes
Excellent. Similar principle to using a stirrup hoe, or a dutch push pull hoe. Everyone will have to do a little extra work at times with bigger weeds, but do this type of thing every few weeks and it really makes a difference! Less time hand weeding is easier on the back!
@@MichaelBurkhalterit’s alright on a hot sunny day as they’ll dry off but the key to good weeding is damp soil and getting the roots out. Just means doing properly.
Will work on most of the weeds, but won't on horse tail ;) Also after you do that try not to step on it as they can easily grow back. Let them dry out, the best when it's done on a dry day.
Then your best course of action is layering a lot of mulch and/or garden soil and when the weed seeds germinate in that soil, it’ll come out like nothing, roots and all.
This is exactly how I do it! Only problem is, where I live, we get so much rain, the ground stays so wet, that they will re-root a lot ofnthe time, so I have to compist them.
Does this method work on a gravel driveway? It’s giving me a real headache this year, I sort of let the weed thing go out of control… I’m spraying with vinegar/salt/couple of drops of dish soap mixture, browning them, and then will try this rake method… Pray for me…🤣
That’s going to be tough. I remember a gardening friend of mine that had sort of the same issue would water everything with soap and water and then cover it with a black tarp and the hot sun would basically “cook” the weeds.
Completely untrue, but regardless every comment helps the algorithm of this video. It’s so amazing how people just don’t believe anything anymore and thank you for subscribing by the way.
That’s not very smart because you want to get the grass weeded and all the seedlings out of there you don’t want to put them in there they will come right back the rakes a good idea but you need to kick it out of the bed
@@ZaatarGardens You need to add a lot more information explaining what you’re doing to make the weeds come out so easily. Because most people need to do a lot more than that to permanently get rid of weeds.
@@Wildman-zh8lg I can see what he's doing. My point is he's misleading. You have to do a lot more to get rid of most weeds. Not everyone has weeds with shallow roots; those come out easily. And yes, you can get rid of weeds, it just takes a lot of work.
I will be doing this tomorrow. Praying it works! My back is killing me from hand-weeding today, and being 7 months pregnant is not working in my favor 🫣
