for starters, THANKS! this and your other video, HUUUGE helps. You made the process real easy. One thing to note, about copying games to a HDD Drive to store them as apposed to the NAND: - download the games to the SD card like its shown in the video - insert your card into the wii u, and have your HDD Drive plugged in when you boot up - format the drive to the wii u - go through haxchi, then go into wupGX2 installer - click on your games, updates, DLCs, hit install - install to the USB drive (HDD Drive). This will install to the drive, not the NAND (the system itself) - after install, power the system down, remove the SD Card - reinsert the SD card into your computer, delete the game from the SD Card (as its now installed on the HDD USB Drive). - Repeat the process to install all your games. You are basically using the Memory card as a transportation device between your computer, and the HDD Drive plugged into the WiiU. I was stuck on this for a long time. Read comments, tried other videos, etc, didn't get really anywhere. Hope this helps others.
You have literally saved my life today. I watched your video of how to mod our WiiU. We had one years ago but id been wanting another one for a long time. Got mine from GameStop for $100. Salesman asked why i wanted one so bad, answered, its just fun for us and our kids. Today, you helped me mod and install our first games. Without you, this would all still been a distant memory. Thank you so much!
Man thank you this video may be 4 years old but it’s still holds up and I am happy to say I can play all of my old video games I remember having when I was younger
This is crazy! Thanks. Wii U is literally the best console for Nintendo's Archive to everything before the Switch and it's cool to be able to play them on the tv or gamepad. It's the best console for Nintendo emulation.
hey man you’ve honestly saved me hours online scavenging for usb games which I found very few of, and also having to manually find and replace title keys which are even more rarer to find.. now I’m finally able to enjoy my wii u! thanks for guiding us peasants to the light with your amazing tutorial.
Just want to say a huge thanks for your videos, you've taken me from knowing nothing to being on to it and having a jailbroken Wii u in the space of couple hours. Thanks!
5:04 For those confused that don't know where to place the update and DLC files in the "install" folder: You place the files below where you put the Game data, do not place the update and DLC files inside the Game data files. I for one do not know what happens if you do put the update and DLC files inside the game files. Putting the update and DLC files below the game worked for me, if you wanna risk it and do the complete opposite then go ahead.
@@ozzyshowmid5648 So far people said that emulators and homebrew on 5.5.5 work just fine. So I think you are okay, to download the program! The 5.5.5 update states that it provides "Improvements to system stability and usability", we are unsure what else they put into this update.
@@kolbymiller603 You put the items from the eshop folder into the install folder, just like the DLC and Update items. The eshop folder is for games exclusively released on the Nintendo eshop.
I’m new to this kind of stuff, so please don’t judge me. I have a few questions. 1) Is this safe? 2) Does this have discontinued Wii U games/apps removed from the Eshop? 3) Is this for my Wii U console? 4) if so, can I run 3ds games on my Wii U? I understand some of these questions may be extremely obvious, but please help me out here. Thx :)
U did a great tutorial but u didnt tell us where to put the downloaded wiiu games /in what folder/do we make a folder that says games, dlc, updates or just drop the downloaded games in the install folder? Then install using what app ...does would be very helpful you should do a short prt2 explaining just how get the games on external hard drive once downloaded Thanks
PLEASE ANSWER PRODUCER (DREWTALKS) I'm kind of a noob. Why do you advise to unpack with Loadiine if you're dragging and dropping unpacked games into the install folder to install with WUP installer in the video? This confuses me. I'm doing this for the first time and I'm pretty literal so, though WUP installer is recommended over Loadiine online, I'm just wondering if this was a mistake?
Another great walkthrough!! I had just finished the previous video on how to hack the WiiU and at the end I was like wait but what about the games and then this video came along. So for the WiiU we just use the WUP by loading the game on the SD card and installing it to the usb we have connected. Is there a walkthrough on loading emulators and how to install them? Or does wii U USB help have those too? Awesome videos thanks again.
i have not got that far yet but id dare say try google wiiu homebrew and download emulators from there and then put in your wii app folder on usb. or download the mulators from the homebrew ch on the wii itself
So I see on the list theres also gamecube and wii games, would we be able to simply follow this same process for installing those? I feel like it cant be that easy can it?
I hope one day they will be able to make a program to just transfer the games to an External Hard Drive. It will stop all the double copying from SD card to Ext. HDD. I know someday a programmer will figure it out.
best way is to install it through the Wup Installer in the homebrew launcher. If you haven’t set up homebrew yet, do it. It’s quite easy, most tutorials will likely recommend you download a version of wup installer too so you should be fine but if they don’t, just look up a download for it and put it in the root of your sd card. It’s automatically go in the right spot.
can you explain more about the 'unpack' you're talking about? like there's dlc, update and the game. do i have to unpack each file for breath of the wild? Or is that just the update and the base game only?
I watched the haxchi video, installed it cold boot, ive now followed this one, but how do i play the wii and gamecube games ? Do you have a video showing that ? Thanks
The best method I found to playing Wii and Gamecube games was making injects for it so I can store my Wii u games with my other system games as well. Just search up how to make Wii and Gamecube injects and the first video is an extremely clear and detailed tutorial.
@@SMGAnimations I had many issues with Wii Backup manager and USB loader on vWii. The injector I use called TeconMoon Injector has built in Nintendont so I didn't have to worry about all of the possible issues. Also with the injector it runs wii and gc games as virtual console so you can have 1 hdd with all your games no need for 2 different ones.
@@GrandeGio95 hey, didn't get a answer but the process is the same as the full game. Just put the dlc or update in the folder with the games, making sure to remove all logos and non A-Z letters. Then install it the same way, you have to run mocha each time before installing them however, hope that helps?
@@MyFootballfootball So I have been successful in installing the updates and games via WUP but when installing the DLC it says that it needs a signature patch. I followed Drew's video on how to mod but I dont remember messing with Mocha. It's on my SD card and on the Homebrew Channel but I've never used it. When I turn on my console all the installed games show up as little icons and I just click and play them; no special loading of any other software or anything because I modded my system with the Brain Age game. So could someone help and guide me on how to install the DLC and also would I have to be running any other software everytime I want to play the game WITH the DLC? Or once I install that's it and I dont have to mess with it again? Thanks.
Brofessor Al-Jaida-Salami You have to download a custom firmware app. I have mocha cfw which allows me to install dlc and play games that are only available on the eshop. Once you get mocha, all you do is run it every time before installing dlc and the download will start. Something to know is that you can only play dlc once you launch mocha cfw so every time you wanna play a game with dlc, u have to launch mocha cfw first and then once it takes you back to the home menu, then you can press on the game with dlc and it will open
Thanks for the help, this video is great and even works now! Just wondering how you would go about playing/installing CFW such as Super Paper Mario ect
good question but i didnt even put the update on my sd and my wiiu automatically downloaded the update whan i wanted to start so i dont think its necessary ouif hope my englisch is ok
Hey! I have a question. So I have jailbroken my Wii U, and I’d like to access the eShop in order to get the Botw DLC. However, I thought I heard something before about jailbroken Wii U’s being unable to access the eShop (and therefore no DLC). Is there a way that I can buy the Botw DLC with the jailbroken Wii U, or do I have to start over with an un-jailbroken console. (Which I’m willing to do, I just want to know if it’s still possible to get the dlc.) Or if you know where I can go to get that info, that would be awesome!
hey question about Wii, N64 and other games do we need to run some kind of emulator on Wii U or just copy it and run it like we would with Wii U game Thanks
I download and decrypt games off Wii U Downloader and transfer them to the install folder on my SD card but WUP Installer GX2 refuses to detect any games for installing... Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...
How do i add the the udates and dlc to the games???? Do i add the updates to the game file and replace then ...do i add the dlc files to the game file?? Please help😁😁
I can't see the large Wii tickable Box, under filters. The one below 3DS and WiiU, yet on your video it's clearly present. I wanted to try Wii games as well.
You can Use Teconmoons Wii vc injector it allows you to put the Wii game as a forwarder then you can just open it (with cfw) even with some games you can use the gamepad to play www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=gbatemp.net/threads/release-wiivc-injector-script-gc-wii-homebrew-support.483577/&ved=2ahUKEwij1ome9YTpAhXFknIEHQJzD_gQFjABegQIAxAJ&usg=AOvVaw1aPTGHUayo8R0iaVkWKuv6&cshid=1587863942444 The compatibility list wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/WiiU_VC_Wii_inject_compatibility_list And a guide ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8TuK4-ZzeSw.html Answers to some questions you may have 1:Yes you can do modded games 2:Yes you can make your own icons 3:You can run it from the hardrive 4:Yes you can use the same hardrive as your wii u games so you only need one There is no chance of bricking i have. Alot of games and modded ones on my hardrive they all run perfectly I can provide proof 5:You can even do gamecube games all on your system menu 6:You can even do modded channels too 7:you can play GameCube games with the gamepad
Is there any way to put it directly onto the USB? I want to install smash 4 but my SD card is only 8gb and smash is around 12gb. So is there anyway to install it directly onto the USB?
Download to your desktop. Format usb to fat32. Add install folder to your usb. Put the game into the install folder on your usb. Run hombrew launcher. Run mocha usb. Press a. Go to wupgx2 and it should be there for you to install. Once done, delete from usb. Now put the dlc file in the install folder on your usb. Run hombrew launcher. Run mocha usb. Press a. Go to wupgx2 and it should be there for you to install. Once done, delete from usb. Put the update file in the install folder on your usb. Run homebrew launcher. Run mocha usb. Press a. Run wupgx2. Install it
Hey, so I'm trying to use this same process, but with an ESHOP game (being Pokemon Rumble U) and it keeps stopping at 15.3%, then fails. I was wondering if you have any info onto this problem.
I modded Wii u a few years ago but i lost the Sd card, so is there anyway i can get the files back for a new Sd card again to allow me to play my wii ubackup from the USB again, i can still see the HDD thing on the wii u games menu but it does not see anything on usb.
Does anyone know if you have to format your flash drive to the wii u to install the games there? Was hoping I could use the same fat32 one that has my wii and gamecube roms, thanks
I am so happy that I can now get games on my Wii U I think the easiest thing as a Nintendo system to home brew is the Wii U cause all you gotta do is add files to sd card and then do a exploit wow
Hey Drew!!!!! Have u done a vid on installing WiiWare games on your vWii/WiiU? Because I've done it but there was a region error msg after installing the wads. So I dunno be pretty cool to have it. But then I think hey most or all of these games u can use in Retroarch. I suppose its cool say having the tile and official release on there. Castlevania rondo of blood and Contra arcade? Where some of the standouts I've heard but yeh I've seen its possible to do, just b nice to know exactly what to do. Like if the region thing was my problem then maybe I just need the euro ones? I dunno, its region free with Hackchi so I dunno....cheers anyway
Quick question after installing the game on sd card and going to install it using homebrew they ask usb or sd i don't have a USB but my sd card does have over 100gb so is it possible to just press the other option ?
Does this work with Tiramisu? I know WUP Installer works with it as I've used it for older games but not sure if it works with WiiU titles specifically.
Hi, new super mario + luigi U is nearly 14gb. The fat32 sd card I put hbc hatchi can only install folder games up to 4gb. Should I just create 'install' folder on a different sd card that is big enough and normal / not formatted to fat32? Thanks
I made the folder called install on my SD cards root, but i didnt know if the hbc folder you had in there was also needed? i already have the homebrew channel when i launch thru the mii app
okay dumb question alert, but i have my 32gb sd card in my computer and i did the new folder thing inside of it to have the games i downloaded end up in there, but at the bottom it says “Disk usage: 0.001 Kb” when i have literally nothing in that directory but the jailbreak. so how do i free up more space so the game actually downloads?
I downloaded BOTW and unpacked and am unsure what to do with the files now / how to install them? Do I add the new folder to the installs folder or to the folder created from downloading?
On the 3DS, if the game is out of date, it will update automatically. Is that the same case here? Or will I have to manually update it myself. Also, does online work? Thanks in advance.
@@Lilog007 Some people make it look clean I dont know how but when I download with the helper it Always buries the files. they dont just go in the root of the directory. Mine goes Data Folder then USA Folder then Games Folder and they are in the games folder.
